This week our team lost one of the original matriarchs of Special Occasions. Lorrie Blake Sage spent more than 15 years of her life pursuing the aesthetic visions of her clients. She took a post-career dream, shared with her sister Penny, and crafted it into a reality. Creating together, experiences that transcended the colors of linens that covered tables or the style of chairs set around them. For Lorrie, the event world was a passion. She cared about the look and the feel of a room set with intention for some of life's most important days. A wedding, a shower, an engagement, holiday or gala - were all brought to life with her discerning eye and compassionate care. Yet, for all of her attention to the events themselves, her concern for them paled in comparison to her deep love for the people. It was the relationships that mattered most to Lorrie. As we started this new era of Special Occasions in 2019, Lorrie has been a relentless cheerleader, coach and mentor to our team. Finding the day to day of retirement to be less entertaining than she imagined, she gracefully rejoined the SO team. Not by retaking a leadership role, but by rolling up her sleeves and putting on her slippers to stand at the heartbeat of the business, pressing the freshly washed linens to make them event ready. Her presence around the team these past few years, not only brought a steadiness to the laundry room, but her wisdom, insight, and care will be missed most of all. We extend our deepest sympathies to Lorrie's family and friends. We will continue in her absence, working each day to grow her dream and honor her memory.
