Today is World Ocean Day. I am lucky enough to have woken up in Mauritius with the Indian Ocean 10 meters from my room and on top of to at, I also got to dive for the first time in too long, surrounded by beautiful fish and the sounds you only hear when you’re 15m underwater.

I honestly couldn’t imagine a world without clean oceans that are filled with such incredible life! It’ll take time, but hopefully we’ll get back to how it was years ago 🐟🐬🤿

I wanted to share the stunning photos my friend Mila from took of me (hair & makeup by the talented .dewing_mua) and share a personal story that gives them more meaning

I'm Louise, the owner of Runaway Romance & the marriage officer behind Runaway Romance Marriage Officers. I often get asked whether I am married, since I'm in the business of love & happily ever after. But, I am happily divorced. I took the huge step to ask for a divorce exactly 2 years ago. Yes, a divorced wedding planner and marriage officer. I was married for just over 3 years & now I’m happily not. The thing is that I still 100% believe in love, forever & marriage, to the right person. I have seen real, true, deep, soul defining love time & again, so I know it exists.

One of the things that weighed on my mind during my marriage & eventually helped me make the decision to ask for a divorce was the amazing couples I work with. I know, when you get married, you are inherently happy & on cloud 9, in the proverbial Honeymoon phase. But, it was more than that, it was the way people were with each other & the way you could see they loved & respected each other & would go to the ends of the Earth and back to make sure the other was happy & safe. I would look at that & think “Wow! That’s what I want!”

Deciding to put yourself, your happiness & mental health first is a huge step! It's an incredibly brave thing to do - to walk away from a commitment you made, to go against all the expectations of family, friends & society & to choose YOU. It isn't an easy thing to do either. I second guessed myself often but I stuck by my decision... to choose ME.

The first few months were so tough but I was lucky to have the most amazing support from my family and friends.

While I was in Knysna for our annual December holiday, I was driving to meet my parents at the beach with the windows down and music turned up & it hit me! I was going to be ok. No, I was going to be AWESOME & I was going to be ME again!

Moral of the story... Choose happiness, in whichever form!

Cherise & Owen decided to include a sand ritual... they chose sand colours that spoke to them and blended them together in a bottle engraved with their names and wedding date. Nicholas & Aidan, Doug's boys wanted to do a first look with their new mom-to-be Haylee. How sweet hey!? They waited patiently (as patient as young boys can be 😂) for Haylee to show them how gorgeous she looked and they weren't disappointed. They were in awe of how stunning she looked... such a touching and emotional moment (yes, I did get a bit teary) 🥹⁠

Adriana & Andrew's gorgeous safari elopement blog post is live!

They flew to SA from Hawaii, to tick a safari off their bucket list and get married at the same time.

They met at a party when they were both staying in Guam and Andrew's persistence and guitar playing finally paid off. They are each other's best friends and the yin to the other's yang.

And although they both travel a lot for work, sometimes going weeks without being able to talk, they keep their bond and love strong, keep showing up for each other and celebrating the little things in life. 💗

April has been a nice chilled month. It’s started with my granny’s 100th birthday and then my Chazzy girls 3rd birthday. There were a few marriages, all filled with so much love. Some great times with friends. A shoot for myself and ended off the month with a styled shoot. And autumn is here! 🍁🍂 May is going to be crazy busy, so the change of pace has been welcome. 😁

Yesterday, we officiated a wedding ceremony on a boat in the middle of this river. We had hippos watching from a few meters away and a storm brewing in the background. By far the most original wedding so far!
