I’m a planner and so it’s safe to say, I love planning! It’s in my blood. Fortunately, and sometimes unfortunately 🤣, for my husband, our life is always planned in one way or another. Thankfully, he is also a planner so it works out. 🤣

My favorite part of planning an event is by far the logistics and operations. I am task oriented. It’s how my brain works. So I thrive off of To Do lists and getting.things.done.

Coordinating vendors, hashing out details, finalizing contracts. My jam.

Diving into a timeline and planning out a wedding day through 10-15 increments, sometimes even 5 minutes! Totally up my alley.

Creating diagrams, rearranging, and rearranging tables again. Will do it for days.

Get me past the sales part of owning this business and I’ll plan the heck out of your day! I love it. It’s my favorite part of planning. Fortunately for my clients, it’s their least favorite part of planning. 🤣

I’ve found that clients favorite part of planning is designing the wedding!

Think about it, you’re recently engaged. What’s the first thing you do? Pinterest!

You start looking for the color scheme, what the wedding party will wear, what the tables will look like. It’s almost always the first thing couples do!

This year I joined a networking group here in Nashville (Heels and Handshakes, woot woot!) and one thing Shannen, the president, preaches is unapologetically sharing our wins. She started an initiative called a STRUT (•share•teach•recognize•uplight•toot).

So I’m taking the few minutes of quiet I have in my day now to share a STRUT!

It’s super late here in Middle Tennessee and the algorithm will probably screw me over because of it but mama only has so much free time to post, so it’s now or never, ha!

I was recently featured in my Alma Maters Fall magazine! For those that are new around here and might not know too much about where I grew up, I attended a private high school in Vermont, one of the leading prep schools in the country with a graduating class of over 300. It’s a massive school and one that previous generations of my family have graduated from also. So you can imagine why it’s such an honor to be in their Alumni Spotlight for the Fall edition.

I’m so excited to announce that my blog is LIVE!

After rebranding and completely switching everything over to a new platform and learning Wordpress (something I avoided for YEARS), I’m so glad it’s finally up and running!

I have no idea why I didn’t do this. Honestly, no clue.

I’m a part of so many groups now and if I had known there was support groups out there for brides going through the same struggles as me, I think it would have made my life a hek of a lot easier.

The hardest part of planning a wedding is making decisions.

You have all of these wonderful ideas and you want to do them all. But at the end of the day, you have to choose.

The color scheme.

The guest list.

The location.

The decor.

If you can budget for that extra element because you really love it.

Decision making is the hardest part of planning your wedding.

If I can give you O N E tip to help in your decision making process, it’s this…

**Create a priority list**

Sit down together and talk through elements that are important to each of you. Build this list with #1 being the most important. Take into consideration the cost for each element, the effect the element will have on your day as a whole, logistics to make it happen, etc.

Once you’ve built the list, determine how many elements from this list you can coordinate now. And put the remaining elements on a (what I like to call) *play list*.

The play list will be used as reference for you to go back to and grab additional elements if your budget allows.

We always have SO many ideas. It’s so important to prioritize and write everything out. It’s an easy way to alleviate some stress during the planning process too!

I became a wedding planner because I wanted to give couples the experience I missed out on for my wedding.

Now that isn’t to say I didn’t love my wedding, because I totally did. But I was also stressed to the max. I’m going to get R E A L with you…

I took on every little detail of our wedding day. It stressed me out so much I lost weight and even got stress rashes that I needed treatment for in order to minimize them for my wedding day. I mean this is N O T the experience you want for your wedding, am I right?

I also declined to hire a wedding manager because we were trying to “save money”. I figured I could handle it all…only I couldn’t and in the end, the brunt of it fell on others the day-of which also made their day stressful as well. In the end, everyone had a fantastic time but they were also glad it was over…and that is not how you want people feeling as they depart from your wedding.

In this case, spending more money would have been for convenience - to give us our T I M E back, to give us the gift of a S T R E S S F R E E wedding day; the ability to E N J O Y our wedding day. If I were to go back, I would have invested in a planner. At the very least, a wedding day manager. **The cost would have been worth it!**

I started my career in the industry planning corporate events. This experience triggered the transition from corporate to social planning and I wouldn’t change a thing.

I’d love to give you your time back and gift you a stress free wedding experience. One that I didn’t have. ✨

Fun fact!

I used to get in trouble for my laugh when I was younger, ha!

For those that have been around here for awhile, you know I have an identical twin. When we were in grade school, our parents would get called in for Parent/Teacher conferences and the only complaint was, wait for it...

our laughs!

As a parent now, I totally understand why my parents reaction was this...

"If that's your only complaint, then there really is no issue here at all."

I like to have a good time, what can I say! And that's exactly what it's like when you work with me.

When it comes to details, you can't leave out the shoes!

Some brides choose a pump styled heel. Some brides choose a wedge. While other choose a block heel.

Personally, I go for the block heel every time. They are more comfortable which means you'll last longer in them and you won't be miserable on your wedding day.

First looks are extremely underrated moments on a wedding day. I wish more couples would take advantage of them.

For me, I was SO glad we had a first look. We took that time to say our personal vows just the two of us. It also gave us alone time during what can be a very busy day. You'd be surprised how little time you get for just the two of you on YOUR day.

So if your wedding day is approaching, I highly recommend just taking some time to think about adding this special moment to your day.

I get asked this question a lot…

“I’m only a few weeks away from our wedding. What are some last minute things I’m missing?”

The pressure and stress really builds up when you’re only a few weeks away from the big day and it can all seem even more overwhelming than it already has been the past 12 months of planning your wedding.

Here are some tips I’ve got for you leading up to your big day:

#1 don’t stress and definitely don’t panic! In the end, everything always works out.

#2 assign tasks to your ladies! They’ll be in charge of making sure you’re hydrated and well nourished on the big day because let’s be honest, the last thing you think about during all of the crazy is eating and drinking and you absolutely need that to get through your day.

#3 start a box or a bag of essentials and little items you can’t forget to bring like your Emergency Kit, jewelry, etc.

#4 assign someone to be the point of contact and decision maker for your coordinator. Some couples like being in contact with their coordinator day-of, others don’t. If you don’t think you will, assign someone else to do that so you don’t have to deal with all of the changes and adjustments that are bound to happen on your day. Let someone else handle it for you so you can enjoy your day, stress free.
