This happy boi is celebrating today.

Today marks something huge for me—my 400th wedding. Fark.

I honestly can’t believe I’ve been lucky enough to stand up there 400 times, in front of 400 different couples, telling their stories and helping them celebrate one of the biggest moments of their lives. It’s hard to put into words what that means to me.

Each couple I’ve married has their own unique incred story, their own journey (vom, hate that word but look at me using it, growing) that’s led them to that moment, and it never gets old. I’m just as excited for wedding number 400 as I was for my very first one, my brother’s wedding (well, I’m probably sh****ng my pants a tad less). It still blows my mind that I get to do this as my job.

It’s pretty sick.

And all the adventures in between - hosting a podcast and now our own little space

It’s wild to think that what started as a random question —“Hey, you wanna be our celebrant?”—and little 22 year old me like “yeah, go on”, having no idea what I as getting myself into. 399 couples later. . Every wedding feels like a reminder of why I do this—because I absolutely adore learning people’s stories and being trusted to tell them in front of their closest family and friends. It’s an honour I don’t take lightly. And yeah, it’s super fun. It’s ridiculously fun. I may have too much fun sometimes.

That’s a lot of cake, a lot of McFlurrys and a lot of car videos with way too many zooms up my nose.

And today is gonna be a vibe. Vibe of a couple. Vibe of a team.

Pew pew 400. I can’t wait to see what the next 400 look like.

Sometimes the warmth and energy from the guests, vendors and couple just hits right.

Sarah and Huw had just that perfect mix of the most glorious crew to make this the biggest hug of a day ever.

Throw in the most beautiful wet weather ceremony spot and c’mon. It’s was just all perfect.

This story starts with the ring. Luke goes on a daring trip to procure the ring without Pat knowing. And I am talking risk taking behaviour here.

Pat goes to work one day and Luke secretly takes the day off. To catch A FLIGHT to Queensland, get the ring and then fly back in the same day without her noticing.

BOLD. I’m assuming he didn’t fly Jetstar.

Just 2 days later, they are flying to Bali, They arrive at the aeroporto, he’s got the sparkly boy in his carry on luggage and begins to panic through the security screening. He gives the security guard a subtle wink. He winks back. He mostly thought Luke was cute, that’s why.

Carry on. Our Luke had been so chill this whole process and this is when he has panic moment. Whilst waiting for their flight in the Qantas lounge, Luke is over there buying ring insurance for them to go away with.

We all get there, in one piece. We get some Bali belly and then our lovebirds go off to Nusa Penida for a little trip. Nothing like a bit of Bali belly to set the stage for a romantic proposal.

They go for an epic hike up the mountain overlooking Diamond Beach. When they get to the top, Luke knows it’s now or never. You can do this buddy, he’s mentally psyching himself up.

They get to the top of this glorious mountain. He’s gone a little quiet, he’s acting weird, a bit sweaty.

And that’s when Luke finally get’s down to business. He get’s down on one knee…

And Pat comes out with a quick “no, don’t”

Time stands still, don’t panic Luke. She has an acute fear of PDA, so we’re all good here.

Luke said some lovely things. He cried, Pat cried, I cried the other day just thinking about it. Luke says how much he loves her and asks whether she would like to continue spending the rest of their lives together.

This is when Pat is sure that she blacked out. As she didn’t answer.

Luke is just there, down on one knee, like, “hey can you say something”.

And of course, it was a hell yeah!!!

And then they got hitched at the glorious by yours truly.

There is nothing more humbling than being booked for a fellow vendors wedding. And then they write a review like this…

“It’s literally impossible to give sufficient praise for this guy.

I’ve worked in the wedding industry as a musician & singer for near 20 years; I’ve seen Adam in action maybe a dozen times. Because I’d hung out with him in various green rooms & elbowed him aside at several canape buffets to get access to the good cheese, I had a good idea about the guy he is and the type of ceremony he conducts - which is why he was top of the list for my own wedding. And oh MAN was he the right choice.

Our ceremony was beset - literally the exact second my wife walked up the aisle - by the biggest, most hilariously evil thunderstorm any of the many wedding industry pros in attendance had ever seen. Howling sideways winds, driving rain, earth-shaking cracks of thunder, umbrellas tumbling across the landscape. More than enough to fluster a lesser celebrant... but not Adam! He was cool & calm as the storied cucumber, asking how we’d like to proceed then immediately taking charge when we shrugged and asked him what he suggested. Several necessary pauses were masterfully inserted whilst Armageddon unfolded around us, then Adam got us back on track beautifully.

The ceremony itself was just perfection. Adam has that rare blend of charisma & humour, without being over the top or obnoxious. Having performed at literally hundreds of ceremonies over the years, I’ve seen the full spectrum from Hey Hey It’s The Celebrant Show to robotic cut-&-dried low-talker blandness; in my opinion, Adam strikes the exact right balance between bland and over-the-top. He facilitates the ceremony perfectly and hits the right heartfelt and funny notes without making it about him, like other lesser celebrants occasionally do. The ceremony was 100% about us, beautifully written and perfectly executed, even under the most absurdly trying circumstances.

Thank you mate. Thank you so very much for being part of our day, we were absolutely thrilled to have you and will forever be singing your praises to anyone and everyone planning a wedding.”

One of my absolute favourite weddings of last year gracing the fine pages of Hello May.

These two absolute legends did things their way. From an epic feast , trivia during their ceremony to walking back down the aisle hitched with RuPaul blasting. It was awesome. I was a lucky enough boi to be able to do the ceremony thangs and the MC thangs. 🤤 (that emoji is wild by the way (that’s because the food was good (I digress)))

THE PRE-CEREMONY HYPE CHAT

My favourite part. And, in my opinion, the most important part.

The part where I have a chat with all your guests and get them totally pumped for what is about to happen. Two extraordinary humans that they adore are about to get married. HUGE. So we need to warm up.

All the guests get a bit of a vibe of me and what the ceremony is going to sound like. And, between you and me, I get to vibe out your guests and see what they are going to be like.

I tell everyone that they can clap, cheer and just have a good time. This isn’t a boring ol’ stale ceremony. THIS IS THE BEST CEREMONY EVER.

“Oh boy - what a treat it was to work with Adam for our wedding. While my husband and I were looking for celebrants, he stuck out like a bright shining beacon: his website promised a fun experience, tailored to fit the couples he was marrying and he did not disappoint.

We snagged his last booking of 2023 and counted our lucky stars - once we had made our booking, he sent both of us through an individual questionnaire asking about ourselves, our memories, our pet peeves for each other - it was like wedding homework and it was dope. Our meeting to sign our Notice of Intended Marriage was the first time meeting in person and we were thrilled and confident that we had made the right decision. Adam instantly felt like an old friend and we felt well looked after. He tailored our ceremony so that we could include all the things we wanted: special shout outs to our folks, drawing our witnesses names out of a hat, shooting our guests with a NERF gun. Normal wedding stuff.

On the day of, Adam made the whole thing run smoothly. People thought he was our mate - he began our ceremony with a personal Acknowledgement of Country, made jokes with us and at our expense, he shot our groomsmen with the NERF gun, he made us laugh uproariously and then made us cry with a special message from our most dear ones (our dog and cat). As an added bonus, you get to listen to your relatives asking all day “Where DO I know this guy from?” and you can gleefully inform them that, yes, he does in fact do weddings for Married at First Sight.

Your celebrant (+MC if you have them for your reception too!) is an investment - they hear your love story and get to know all the intimate details you have to share when you’re getting married. Adam was such an integral part of our day and we truly loved him. Couldn’t recommend enough.”
