REDEEMING THE TIME FOR THE DAYS ARE EVIL.
By Comr. Akanimo Ifiokobong, CONC.
His Excellency,
Comr. Ernest Thomas,
President and Commander of the Armless Battalion of Eket Students Association Worldwide.
National Secretariat, Block 2 Room 12 Eket Local Government Council, Eket.
Compliment of the season Sir,
I am obliged to make this an open letter to you for few reasons that concerns the Student Community we passionately fought to keep the flag flying.
i. The current state of the Union.
ii. Your Transition plans and consequent possible outcome before night falls, and possibly alert you on some danger that may be lurking in the
corner for you to bridge the constitutional order of Eksa Worldwide.
iii. Some sect of power drunk politicians Undermining the Office of the President of Eksa Worldwide.
iv. The case of the Suspended Vice President, Eksa Worldwide and the way forward.
v. Some people close to you, if
not yourself, have been asking this same question, what does Comr. Akanimo Ifiokobong want after bowing out of Eksa Worldwide some days ago ?
vi. As a matter of exigency, everything must be done to guard, protect and defend ournoble leadership institution call Eksa Worldwide, nourish it and prevent it from depreciating.
vii. we should desists from
advertently or inadvertently dividing the Association and it leadership through cheap propaganda of Fraud, Sexual Harassment, Bullying and gender-based violence amongst our fellow Comrades.
viii. Some of the student leaders across the state and nation who depends on Eksa Worldwide as a perfect Leadership model for Local Government Student Community in terms ofyouth capacity development and Academic excellent are genuinely worried about the negative signs and signals that is gradually radiating from Eksa Worldwide.
ix Eksa Worldwide should be in a position to take advantage of the present favourableGovernorship election of Pst. Umo Bassey Eno as Akwa Ibom State Governor elect to invest majorly in education which is encapsulated in his 5 point ARISE AGENDA, an opportunity that will not be open for too long.
x. I am much concerned about your legacy which you alone can be the best
manager, as your administration is fast approaching completion.
Mr. President, I believe you are on the know that it was only God through the instrumentality of some student leaders who gave you their Mandate to elevated your status to the 001 of Eksa Worldwide despite the challenging situation that surrounds your election.
I'm always grateful each time you acknowledged the role God enabled me to
play in your ascension to power. Indeed, if names of men that have impacted positively in your life will be call, I'm certain I could make the front row after God and your parents. I have always retorted that God only put you where
you are and those that could be regarded as having played a role were only instruments of God
to achieve God’s purpose in your life.
For me, I believe as a Comrade that your Emergence was for the best
interest of Eket Students in general, because it is unbelievable that a student of University of Calabar, a minority Constituency in Eksa Worldwide won the likes of University of Uyo, Aksu, Akwa poly, College of Education and Heritage Polytechnic to ascend the
highest pinnacle in Eket Students Association leadership.
If Comr. Eshiet Ekong could get there,
Comr. Akanimo Ifiokobong could get there,
Comr. Uduak Peter could get there, and
Comr. Ernest Thomas can get there, trust me, any Eket Students irrespective of their institution nor gender can.
It was not a matter of the turn of any geopolitical Zone, Ward norinstitution but the best interest of the entire Eket Students.
Thank God It has been proved that no individual or
group of person has the monopoly of power to solely make anyone the Supreme Leader of Eksa Worldwide. I have always told you that God has graciously been
kind, generous, merciful and compassionate to me and He has done more than I could have
ever hoped for since I left Eksa Worldwide platform to macro political arena.
I want nothing from you personally except that you run the affairs of
Association as its enshrine in the Eksa Worldwide Consolidation Constitution and transit as soon as your tenure elapses as you promise the entire Student community during your acceptance speech on your inauguration day. In so doing, you will majestically move to the advisory council as an elder state-man, this is the only way you could make Eksa great and the founding fathers proud.
Mr. President, please kindly be very wary of some of your aides, collaborators and people who look for enemies for
you. I have seen them with you and some were around me when I was in your position. They are more dangerous than identified adversaries. May God save our
leaders from sycophants. They know what you want to hear and they feed you with it essentially for their own selfish interest. Where were they when God used others to achieve His will in your life. They
possess you now for their personal interest, But always remember this fact that No interest should be higher or more important to you now than the overall
interest of Eket Students.
You have already made history and please do nothing to mar the history. I supported
you as I supported Comr. Uduak Peter because we have just one Eksa Worldwide to protect.
Permit me to put it clear to you some fact I gathered while engaging with comrades I couldn't want to mention names, as talks loose and serious abound about possible abuse and misuse of some student leaders as student apparatus to tumble your administration the very day your tenure elapsesfor unwholesome personal interest to the
detriment of the honour and dignity of these honourable Association .
I sincerely urge the authorities and parties involved not to embark on such destructive path for an important
element of our national make-up. The roles in Comradeship and leadership should be held
sacrosanct in the best interest of the Eket Students. Again, let not history repeat itself here.
Sir, it is your primary responsibility as the captain of the ship to prevent the ship from wrecking. For anybody close to you saying that if the worst happens,
he or she would not be involved is idle and loose talk. If we leave God to do His will and we don’t
rely only on our own efforts, plans and wisdom, God will always do His best.
Each time I step out of our community to other constituency, I always
come across some intelligent Eket Students with first-class, doing well where they
are and who are passionate to do better for Eksa Worldwide. My hope for this Noble Association rest on their shoulder.
As time passes by, I just hope that we all will come to the realization of the very fact that we are the Raw Gold of inestimable value to Eksa Worldwide and Eket LGA as a whole. wherever we may be and not those who arrogate to themselves eternal for ephemeral.
To my greatest embarrassment at times, I learned more about what is going on in the Media space as the Suspended Vice President of Eksa Worldwide who appeal to the Eksa Worldwide Parliament for his suspension to be given a due consideration, while the process was on motion, she ignorantly tendered a resignation letter to the association and now is still seen parading around student function seeking for cheap recognition as the Vice President Eksa Worldwide. Trying to verify the veracity
of these information, I found some of them not only to be true but more horrifying than they were
presented to me.
I was even more surprised that the Supervisor for Education Mr. Ama Michael Ukpong, who by design was to act as a bridge between the student and the government is the one fueling internal fight in the student Community which we have over time built a system were peace and justice reigns.
Indeed it is a national shame to the founding fathers of Eksa as Other student leaders who constantly look up to Eksa Worldwide for leadership advice see their hope lost as the current crisis keep eating deep into the association root. Failure on the
part of The leaders to resolve this crisis will create a schism that will be bad for not just Eket Students, but the entire Student community who sees Eksa Worldwide as their last source of Hope.
Knowing what happens around you, most of which you know of and condone or deny, this letter
will provoke cacophony from hired and un-hired attackers, but I will maintain my serenity because by
this letter, I am convince that I have done my duty as a father and state-man to you as I have always done, to other student leader that seek for my advice.
Trust me I will not support what I
believe is not in the best interest of Eket Students no matter who is putting it forward or who is behind
it.
Mr. President, you know that i have passed the stage of being flattered by words, intimidated by people, threatened by some cheap blackmail,
frightened, induced or bought by money. I am never afraid to agree or disagree but it will always be on principles of leadership that will benefit the entire Eket Students Association.
My last piece of advice to you Mr. President, is that you should learn the lesson by history and
please do not take Eket Students for granted. Move away from culture of denials, coverups and proxies and deal honesty, sincerely and transparently with student to regain their trust
and confidence. Eket Students are no fools, they can see, they can hear, they can talk among
themselves, they can think, they can compare and they can act in the interest of the entire Student community.
They carefully watch all actions and deeds that are associated with the current situation of things, I know you have the power to save Eksa Worldwide from this perils, I beg you to have the courage and the will to Call for GENERAL CONGRESS and address the Student Community on the current Happening and the way forward.
Please conscientiously uphold some form of Eksa Worldwide core values.
I sincerely appeal to all
Eksite, particularly all members of the Elders and Stakeholders council to respect and dignify the Office of the Worldwide President, and be conscious of the fact that individuals will come and go but the Office will remain.
Please don't forget that time is of great essence.
Finally, your later-day conversion with the current issues on ground is fraught with danger of disunity,
confusion and chaos if not well handled. I believe in debate and dialogue but it must be
purposeful, directed and managed well without ulterior motives. The ovation has not died out
yet and there is always life after a decent descent.
Mr. President, Kindly accept the assurances of my highest consideration.
His. Excellency,
Comr. Akanimo Ifiokobong (CONC) FMR EKSA WORLDWIDE PRESIDENT 2017
1st May, 2023.
