I get to raise $2400 by Tuesday at 8pm CST for the Austin Child Guidance Center. A non profit on a mission to make mental health services accessible for all kiddos and families!

As someone who’s struggled with their own mental health challenges, I’m super passionate about the work this organization is doing to make therapy and other psychological services accessible for all children and teens, regardless of ability to pay.

2023 Wedding Trend Alert: full wedding weekend itinerary!

So many new couples we’ve chatted with lately have told us about their vision for a whole weekend experience with their guests, and we’re here with some first hand guidance. We know how much your people mean to you and we know they’ve traveled far and wide to celebrate. Why have just one celebration when you can have a few? Personally, we love the idea of maximizing the weekend to get the most time with your people.

We worked closely with M+B to curate a weekend full of fun events. The night before the wedding involved an intimate dinner with VIP friends/family, followed by a welcome party with all guests . And the day after the wedding all guests were invited for a farewell celebration .

There were pros to both events.

Seeing everyone the night before meant the wedding day could be more than small talk and pleasantries, having gotten a lot of those excited “hey, how are you?! Thanks for coming!” jitters out of the way.

And the event the next day was totally easy and stress-free. No major photos or super timed events, it was leisure and effortless, allowing people to chat and catch up in a way that a wedding day doesn’t always allow with different moving parts, announcements and a schedule to maintain.

This weekend we’ll be making wedding dreams happen and it has us reflecting back on this Alice in Wonderland spring soiree 🥹
This weekends wedding design is totally different than what you see pictured, but in every way just as much unique and exceptional. It’s truly a dream to work with such amazing brides and couples, and to plan such sensational love parties for them and their loved ones. Pinch me, this is my life!!??

Are you stopping to smell the roses?

Think of all the progress you’ve made. The decisions that are behind you. The vendor team you’ve secured. The milestones you’ve hit. How are you celebrating your accomplishments?

It’s easy for one decision to roll into the next. For one week to pass into another. For it to turn into tasks on a to-do list. For it to be be about “getting there” rather than pausing to marinate in the excitement of your milestones.

So what’s worthy of celebration? Anything. Everything… That you hired your wedding florist who’s going to bring your floral dreams to life. That you have a concrete timeline of your wedding day and you can see how it flows from start to finish (eek!!). Or, that you’re doing something you’ve never done before, with your life partner by your side (how cool is that?), and it’s a really big feat to plan a wedding in these post-pandemic, inflation days!

If you’re like me and guilty of letting the moments pass you by, consider this my challenge to you… Pause + Reflect. Even better? Do it with your partner and bond over how awesome you both are and how you make such a great team.

Reflection questions to consider when it comes to wedding planning…
✨ What are you really proud of from the past few weeks/months?
✨ What decisions have you made that you’re most excited for?
✨ What have you learned about yourself or your partner in this process?
✨ How do you want to feel as you move forward in these next decisions ahead? What needs to happen in order for you to feel that way?
✨ How has your partner supported you in the process?
✨ What are you grateful for?

I find when I take moments to reflect, I’m actually able to appreciate myself, my efforts, and have admiration for the efforts of the people around me, which makes everything feel a little bit sweeter and more special.

Rules? There are no rules when it comes to your wedding. Or any wedding for that matter. There’s no right or wrong way to have a wedding. And there’s no good or bad way to do it either. And there certainly are no wedding police (hehe imagine if that were a thing? 😝)

As someone who’s been wedding planning for 8 years now, I’ve unpacked this realization, asking what are some of my own “rules” I’ve come to believe over the years?…

That a wedding design should feel balanced with the season one is getting married… Or not and let’s throw a tropical themed celebration in the middle of December (lol, the opposite of Christmas in July).

That we should have assigned seats for table groupings larger than 12… Or not and people will figure it out and it will be okay.

That toasts should be at the end of dinner when people are finished eating and not in the middle of dinner when forks and knives clanking. Actually, I still vote for toasts at the end of dinner out of respect for the toaster, but you know what, there are no rules. Of course, you can still count on me to give my two cents, and I’ll still support you in the end. Ultimately, it’s your wedding, and I believe it should be what you want it to be.

So, when our bride came to us and said she wanted a drag queen performance because she and her hubby love drag shows and frequent them often, I was there for it - full send 🙌 We found this incredible duo and implemented their set into the timeline in a way that flowed. Their performance was polished off with a community toast of glitter jello fireball shots, cause when our couple told me they loved fireball, I was like wait, I’ve got an idea 💡Truly, anything to make your day more personal and more like YOU, I’m here for. Full send.
