This is quite a bit different than what we usually post. However, this was a highlight of my career as a photographer and it deserves to be shared here.

We have officially been in business for 13 years as of this month, but I (Abby) shot my first "show" in 2004, 20+ years ago, in a now-closed cafe in our sleepy hometown in rural Michigan. Ever since then, it's been a dream of mine to get a photo pit pass and properly attempt concert photography.

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph some friends of mine, who also happen to make up my favorite band, Mae. It was a top of the bucket list, core memory kind of moment that I always dreamed of but never expected would happen. Thank you to Mae for the honor and privilege of capturing the show.

Sunrise in Zion National Park is already magical, but when Ben contacted us about visiting from Wisconsin and proposing to Courtney at sunrise at Canyon Overlook, we couldn't say yes fast enough. These two are truly incredible people and we are so thrilled to have been part of such a special moment in their lives. Congratulations, you two!

When you get to photograph a good friend from high school marrying the love of her life, on the most gorgeous September day, and also get to work with a bunch of your favorite vendors in the process? I couldn't think of a more perfect wedding for Sarah and Trenton. So many fun and perfect little details of their love story were incorporated into the day!

Due to some big and exciting things happening in our personal lives, we are making the decision to not take on any sessions after September 30, 2023 for a yet-to-be-determined period of time.

We’ve been in business, non-stop, since October 2011. So in many ways, this break is long overdue and much needed.

We had the immense privilege of being with Jason's family as he arrived home from a ten month deployment. There were more than a few happy tears shed at the airport. And even though his flight was delayed and he ended up getting into town later than originally planned, they had lots of family and friends show up to give their love and support. There was even a police es**rt! It was beautiful to see the community rally around one of it's heroes.

You may recognize Ryan and Tacy as we've had the privilege of photographing them several times through the years. We've also had the honor of assisting in their adoption journey. Their intent to adopt announcement photos were done with us, we did a video of them for the adoption agency profile for prospective birth mothers, and we even did some graphic design for their fundraisers.

But what you don't know is that back in May 2022, they asked us to photograph their newborn baby girl. Ella was surrendered by her birth mother shortly after she was born, and Ryan and Tacy got the call to take her home. We captured these photos a few days later, optimistically hopeful that the adoption process would go smoothly. Yesterday, we heard the news that the judge signed the paperwork - making her officially a Davis!!

Over the last seven months, we've had a front row seat for these two becoming the most incredible parents. Their faith never wavered, no matter what obstacles were thrown their way. They knew their baby was out there and they'd find their way to each other. And when she came into their lives in a whirlwind, they stepped up and stepped into their new roles. Somehow, they even made it look easy.

Ella is SO loved. And she's also an absolute joy! We are thankful to be able to share these photos of her with you all now.

Congratulations to the Davises, and welcome to your forever family, Ella!

I'm not saying David and Lauren are a good luck charm, but the Red Wings are 1-0 in games when these two are wearing their jerseys for an engagement shoot, so... you can decide for yourself. Congratulations to my friends on their recent engagement! We had a blast hanging with them on this absolutely gorgeous November day.

When your closest friend in the entire world gets engaged and wants to do an intimate elopement 1500 miles from home -- you hike Zion National Park in a bridesmaid dress and marry them inside a cave.

The best part is, we brought our cameras along only for funsies. We were able to be in the moment with our friends on their big day, and were able to trust their incredible photographers to guide and capture every moment. Luckily, they were cool and more than happy to let us snap a few photos when the moment was right. Be sure to hire The Wild Within Us if you ever need photographers in the Zion area because they're truly the best.

Today was the wedding reception back home in Michigan. Kristina and Zac asked us to grab a couple family photos, but I had to sneak a few extras of them and the delicious donuts they had.

I'm so happy for these two. Truly, two people who were made for each other

Jon and Kaley set a high bar for all future weddings. They have surrounded themselves with so many incredible people that radiate love and support. All the love made for a beautiful wedding day, and as the sun went down, a party for the ages at Old Grove Barn. A few of the highlights include: Tearful first looks, Lord of the Rings references in the ceremony, a shot of fireball as a symbol of unity, a reading of the vows on the lawn surrounded by loved ones, the most epic of playlists, and so much FUN. And we've barely scratched the surface! Congratulations, Jon and Kaley!
