The Saint Louis Art Museum building overlooks the Grand Basin area of what was once the site of the 1904 World's Fair. Adjusted for inflation the state and federal funds used for the world's fair would be north of $500 million today. While many of the  styled buildings were dismantled the art museum and water feature of the grand basin as well as others remain and are open to the public. A personal favorite of mine is the wording above the entrance to the museum where it reads, "DEDICATED TO ART AND FREE TO ALL" and those words still hold true as the museum is still free to the public.

If I had known what the inside of this building looked like I would have walked around to the other side where the doors are still open! I didn't know inside was a beautiful rounded marble staircase! The city hall was originally built in 1903 as home for the publishing of Women's Magazine. And had (possibly has) the largest carbon arc searchlight installed in the dome and was used to help kick off the or Later the owner and three times mayor Edward Gardner Lewis, would lose much of his financial empire and the building was empty for a time until being dedicated as the new in 1930 and the searchlight was lit again for the dedication. So much beauty and in one building.
