The Notorious B.I.G. appears on the cover of a new limited edition variant Marvel comic, celebrating the release of Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII #3. The comic itself does not feature The Notorious B.I.G., only the variant cover, drawn by artist Salvador Larrocca, which features B.I.G. coming between the Marvel icons beneath the the Brooklyn Bridge.

Cool As Ice (1991). Sure it’s a star-milking vehicle, but Vanilla Ice (aka Robert Matthew Van Winkle) goes to town with his best bathroom-mirror-Brando in this funky-fresh 90's rap-infused dramedy. An erstwhile critical punching bag and box office flop, it's now a darling of 'So Bad it's Good" movie lists. For my rental dollar, it’s a rad day-glo time capsule of that special twilight between the 80's and the 90's.

In his debut Drink Champs interview, which aired on Saturday, August 10, with host N.O.R.E and DJ EFN, Buju Banton criticized Afrobeats as uninspiring and failing to uplift people across Africa.

“Tell me one Afrobeats song that can uplift us,” he said. “Kenya is suffering; young men in Kenya are revolting. South Africa, Sudan, South Sudan—everywhere is struggling. But which of these Afrobeats songs can relate to me for a peace of mind, to tell me that we are in the struggle, and even though it’s hard, we will overcome? Tell me.”

Several people online, including podcaster Jai Frai, have suggested that Burna Boy’s “Common Person” is a song made to uplift. However, the biggest Afrobeats hits often blend pop and R&B sensibilities. Notably, “One Dance,” a dancehall-infused collaboration between Drake and Nigerian star Wizkid, stands out as the biggest song in both Afrobeats and Dancehall.
