Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop is family owned and operated. Todd and Carley Abell moved their family to Abernathy to purchase the funeral home in 1991 and in 1997, they purchased the Hale Center location. Carley's interest in the floral business led her to open Abell Flower Shop in May of 2001. The Abell's owned and operated both funeral homes and the flower shop until they sold their Hale Ce

nter location in April of 2016. Todd and Carley continue to own and operate their Abernathy location and Abell Flower Shop. The Abell's and their staff provide dignified, personal service. The facilities are tastefully decorated in a comfortable home style fashion, and are equipped with the state of the art technology. With this technology, we can record services and offer live streaming. Our website provides articles on grief, the ability to make funeral arrangements, our pricing is listed along with the services and merchandise we can provide. Also listed are obituaries for those we are honored to serve, allowing comments and condolences to be left online. "Our goal is to make the most difficult time in a family's life easier. A family has only one chance for this funeral service to meet their needs, and it is our purpose to fulfill those needs"

Feelings of grief intensify during holidays and birthdays, but also can hit when least expected. To help, we’re sharing 5 uncommon grief triggers:
1. A song with significance comes on the sound system, say, while getting a haircut.
2. Spotting someone who looks like a loved one in a crowd.
3. Updating contact information for a subscription, and see a loved one’s email or cell number.
4. Meeting someone with the same name, age or job as a loved one.
5. A restaurant or store frequented with a loved one has just closed permanently.
It’s important to remember that grief triggers are a reflection of the love and importance of a loved one’s life in yours. Let us know of other uncommon, unexpected grief triggers
