ARTIST APPRECIATION:
💙🦋💙 words from the artist:
"The most beautiful flowers are picked for the vase. Once they’re in it, they are admired, adored, and given water without needing to wait for the rain. Their colors shine brighter and brighter.
But as time passes, and they lose their beauty, they’re thrown out like they’re worth nothing. Even when they try their best to hold on, it’s inevitable. They have to accept the fall and embrace it. But it might take time because when all you’ve known is the comfort of the vase, the wildness of nature can feel scary.
Then there are the wild roses… They never liked the vase to begin with. It was too restrictive, too boring. They were never willing to cut their thorns to make it easier for others to touch them or get closer to their beauty. They love nature, even with the insect bites and the unpredictable weather. It’s their home.
This is not about flowers.
For the first time, I’m experimenting with mixing two of my arts: hair sculpting and painting. This is an idea I’ve had for a while, and this residency is the perfect moment to start! Some people love my hair art, while others prefer my paintings. now I’m reconciling everyone, lol! I plan to create an entire series using this technique: sculpting with hair, printing it, and painting over it with acrylic to tell a story. This image is my first test. What do you think of the idea?"
