Flower of the Month
May 2025: 🧶Knitted Roses🧶
This year the month of May has been a waiting game for me and honestly I haven't been outside much since the arrival of the wee blossom that is my daughter.
I've chosen the knitted roses I make for this month for a couple of reasons, one being the fact that our garden is fairly bare at the moment and two, to show that these knitted roses are quite fitting for the transition into Winter by being a cosy addition to any posy and will last forever.
I think as far as symbolism goes they will hold the same meaning as garden roses which can be many different things depending on their colour, I'd also like them to hold the meaning of everlasting and unconditional love which is something that I'm currently understanding on a different level.

💘 Romantic💘

Romance will look different for everyone so feel free to let me know what you think and share what your romantic style looks like.
For me a romantic style bouquet will include warm and rich tones of colour, flowers and foliage I use will be a mix of classic and unique varieties with a softer structure that has a touch of movement, all of these qualities tied neatly together to represent the fun and flair of a budding romance.

Foliage of the Month
April 2025: ☘️Ivy☘️
Ivy has a very rich and vast amount of history and symbolic meanings especially in Greek mythology which I could do endless research on however i will just share my thoughts and feelings on it as a florist.
Firstly and unfortunately Ivy is quite invasive if it's not kept at bay, its tendency to creep can do damage to buildings and smother existing plants or trees.
However it's use in floristry is very much appreciated, being a hardy evergreen that lasts and hardly wilts, it creates whimsical designs such as trailing bouquets and head pieces. Its structure is also incredible for wiring work in corsages and buttonholes. I've also noticed that in a bouquet Ivy has a mind of its own, after a day or two it naturally reaches towards the light which adds a bit of magic to the arrangement. I especially love the variegated variety.
Ivy is a desired choice for weddings because it holds the symbolism of eternity, fidelity, celebration or achievement.

Notice: it's mother's Day in 2 weeks and as much as I would love to I won't be taking Mother's Day orders this year as I will be entering motherhood myself around this time 💖 I will continue to be as active with my business as I can after the initial newborn navigation phase and will ideally be back in action with an added assistant by springtime ✨🌸🌿

Back in February I had the wonderful opportunity to create wedding florals for a wonderful couple 💙 thank you for trusting me and allowing me to share some photos from your special day, it makes my heart so warm to see my work in action 😊
Carrie Dobbs captured the day beautifully 📸 💐
Flowers were supplied by my own garden as well as from gardens of family, friends and neighbors of the bride which makes it even more special. Also I especially loved working with the 3D printed foxes and turning them into really unique and personalized buttonholes 🦊
This was the biggest wedding I'd ever done flowers for and want to extend my thanks to everyone involved who helped me cart flowers around and set them up 💓

This months pick from the creation beret

💚Green💚

I've always thought that the colour green makes everything look better in the way it adds a touch of freshness to a design.
Today I made a green bouquet, celebrating the greenery that so often enhances and frames my floral arrangements
A greenery bouquet is a perfect choice in the winter months when flowers can be scarce and also for those who prefer the lushness of foliage more than a posy of flowers.

Flower of the Month
March 2025: ❤️Leucadendron❤️
Firstly thankyou to all who supported our Multiple Myeloma Awareness fundraiser on Saturday, it went really well and funds raised will be donated to Myeloma New Zealand and Ranui House this week.
The Leucadendron (specifically Safari Sunset) was a fitting choice to have in the bouquets as it matches the burgundy ribbon which represents multiple myeloma in the month of March 🎗️
Symbolizing resilience, simple beauty and admiration as well as often being used to honor loved ones.
Leucadendrons seem both simple and unique at the same time to me being a nice choice for any occasion.

I made this wreath as a tribute to a wonderful and warm soul 🌻

Going back to my florist studies I learnt a lot about design principles and how to utilize them to make a visually pleasing floral arrangement, I don't always get it right and I definitely stick to some more than others but that is the joy of learning and practicing new ideas.
I had form, balance and colour in mind while making this arrangement.

March is Multiple Myeloma awareness month! 🌹🎗️
This is the 3rd year I've held a fundraiser to raise awareness as well as donating money raised to 2 incredible organizations;
Myeloma New Zealand who work towards providing information, finding new research and supporting those living with Multiple Myeloma,
And
Ranui House who provide a home away from home for patients and their loved ones or support people who are receiving treatment for various different conditions.

Every year I like to do something different which is a family friendly experience along with bouquets and cupcakes as always. Details on this coming soon ❤️

Flower of the Month
February 2025: 🌈Zinnia🌈
Zinnias are such a fun flower to grow, they are always bright, long lasting and full of colour, plus you always get a surprise when wandering around the garden. This season they seem to be stronger than ever with a mixture of colours, our crop of Zinnias has been self seeding for the past 7 years so each year they come up a little different which is always a nice way to welcome Autumn.
Zinnias have many different meanings especially since they come in such an array of colours but for me personally they symbolize cheerfulness by being so colourful and also a sense of pride within myself as I am feeling more and more confident and proud of my work
