As the lights dim and the stage goes dark, the Bulilit Congress 2024 comes to an end.

Montano Hall may have gone quiet, but the cheers and shouts of our Bulilits and Teens will forever echo throughout the gymnasium.

To the 14 medical societies that stood their ground yesterday, we cannot thank you enough. For making it there with us through all the setbacks and hurdles. Your persistence and dedication has not gone unnoticed.

May the medals you won, the insights you gained, and the experiences we all shared strengthen your passion to further Doc Bennie and Dra. Fe's vision. Here's hoping we'll meet each other again in the next Congress and beyond.

To the doctors, teachers, parents, alumni, and the countless other volunteers of the Organizing Committee, thank you for going above and beyond. We could not have pulled off this year's Congress without each and every one of you.

To the parents and guardians that took the time to cheer on their kids yesterday, from all component societies, thank you. Your support is the backbone of us Bulilit and Teen Health Workers.

Lastly, to all our Bulilits and Teens. Through thick and thin, you proved your worth and rose to the occasion. To the Quiz Bee contestants, the Sabayang Bigkas delegates, the Peer Educator representatives, the Zumba performers, and even those who cheered on from the bleachers. Thank you for being there.

On behalf of Dr. Carol Enriquez and Dr. Vanessa Icasiano of the Cavite Bulilit and Teen Health Workers, thank you for making the Bulilit Congress 2024 a day to remember.

🏝️THE historic Corregidor Island is part of the province of Cavite (Cavite City)!

It was during the American 🇺🇸 colonial period that Corregidor was declared (officially) to be part of Cavite. This is rooted in the deep connection between Cavite City and the Island of Corregidor during the galleon trade voyage.⛵

Corregidor stands tall not only as a tourism site of Cavite City, but also as a symbol of friendship, nationalism, and strength of the Filipinos in totality!🇵🇭

Chavacano is the native language of Cavite City

⛵Bienvenido!

With the last galleon from Mexico 🇲🇽 sailing towards the former Cavite Puerto (now part of the unified Cavite City), Chavacano, a creole that emerged from the Spanish language and native Tagalog language played a crucial role in the communication of the locals and foreign traders.

For the luminous trade years, Chavacano is the passport of Caviteños to the world, the universe rather. Now a threat of declining Chavacano speakers is present in the locality, but the fight is not over yet!

Hear Chavacano once again in the effort of reviving it one word at a time! 🗓️ March 3 at the 🟩 12TH BULILIT CONGRESS 🟩!

❇️ FOUR ❇️ days left, Bulilits and Teens!

ALAM NIYO BA?

On the 🌱 grounds of this Cavite City gymnasium once stood.. the 🫡 FORMER CAPITAL OF CAVITE 🫡!

✒️ History time!

Its role in the 🚢 Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade 🚢 made Cavite City - then known as "Puerto de Cavite" - important to the colonial Spanish government.

For a while, it was the 💸 CENTER OF TRADE and a 🚩 SIGNIFICANT AREA OF INFLUENCE in colonial Philippines.

With the arrival of the 🇺🇸 Americans in 1901, they recognized the city's strategic location and kept it as /their/ government's 🚩 provincial capital.

It was only in 1954 when the title of Provincial Capital was ↔️ moved to (the closer and much larger) Trece Martires City. In 1977, it was again ↔️ moved - this time permanently - to the municipality of Imus. The capitol building, however, remains in Trece Martires to this day.

Before that, though, the provincial capital of the Cavite Province stood tall in Cavite City. 😎

Its once towering capiz windows and "bahay kubo"-esque architecture was bulldozed and flattened following the transfer of the Provincial Capital. 😔

The very ground where it once stood would be 🔨 repurposed and 🧱 rebuilt. Today, on the foundations of its province's former capital, a new landmark has taken its place.

❇️ FIVE ❇️ days left, Bulilits & Teens!

ALAM NIYO BA?

Cavite City is home to the oldest painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Philippines! ✝️

At 💫 357 years old 💫, the Nuestra Señora de la Soledad de Porta Vaga ("Our Lady of Solitude of Porta Vaga") is the earliest recorded Marian painting in the country.

It depicts Mary - the Patroness of Cavite, both our city and the province - kneeling and praying in front of the nails and thorny crown used in Christ's crucifixion.

Since 2018, the image has been recognized as a 🏵️ NATIONAL CULTURAL TREASURE 🏵️ by the National Museum. In the very same year, it was given a 🕯️ CANONICAL CORONATION 🕯️ by Pope Francis himself.

It currently resides at the Diocesan Shrine of the ⛪ San Roque Parish in Cavite City.

Nuestra Señora de la Soledad de Porta Vaga is a reflection of us Caviteños' devotion to the one and only "Reina de Cavite y Luz de Filipinas" (TL: Reyna ng Cavite at Ilaw ng Pilipinas).

This Lenten season, when you drop by our city, take the time to pause, visit, and reflect on the image.

For in the San Roque Parish resides a ✨ cultural and religious national icon ✨ - one that hightlights the unwavering faith of many Caviteños. Viva de Porta Vaga! 📿

In Cavite City, if you're patient enough, you'll catch a breathtaking view of the 🌅 sunset 🌅... overlooking 3 bays!

As a peninsula, the Ciudad de Cavite is surrounded by bodies of water on all sides:

To the northeast, the 🐟 CAÑACAO BAY;
To the southeast, the 🐚 BACOOR BAY,
and to the southwest, 🌊 the MANILA BAY.

Our city's 📸 picture-perfect evenings also reveal its unique geography, cementing our standing as 🌟 "The Historic City by the Bay" 🌟- or three.
