I survived Summer!!
My 6th Summer & one of my most enjoyable ones yet. 3 years dealing with the constant aftermath of La Ninia & we finally get a break

Summer Pickings!!
With a second La Nina event for the year underway im just enjoying these while I can.
We are at that stage where we are playing russian roulette with severe storms on a daily basis.
And the forecast for the next 3 months is a a possible
800+ mm on top of the 270mm we have already had in the past 3 weeks.
My mantra this time around is I'm just gunna "wing it" & what will be, will be. I can't change the weather so I'm just going to have to accept the card I'm delt & deal with it the best i can.
Thinking of all the other farmers on the east coast who are also trying to make ends meet in these challenging times. #congarinni_bush_gems
Managed to scrape together enough flowers for my beautiful Mother in Law on her birthday.
End of Summer reality!!
What people envision to be a beautiful flower filled garden is actually a weed infested nightmare.
Our little piece of paradise has had over 600mm of rain in just over 2 months & its definitely taking its toll on everything. Paddock grasses seem to grow a foot overnight. So many losses this season just to bloody weeds. And then there's the flower rot that follows when you have back to back flooding rain.
We have pretty much been in semi drought since we started 4 years ago & looking back it has been much easier growing when you can control the amount of water the plants get (as long as you have water, that is)
Accepting the things I can't change & venting my frustration by taking to beds with the brush cutter last week. Another 400mm forecast for the next 3 months so unfortunately it feels like we're not out of the woods yet.
Loving the fact that Autumn is here & the days will eventually start to cool down. Time to reflect on this hot season and take note of any changes that need to be made for next Summer.
Definately taking on next Summer with a work smarter not harder approach.
