Hey ya'll! I'm so excited to be making my first official post for the 1861 Market! My name is Rhonda Boswell. My husband (my very best friend) and I are blessed enough to live on the most beautiful old farm in NC. We have an old two-story brick house at the entrance of our property that is on the Alamance County Historical Register. Do you love history? Boy, we do. It’s called the Benjamin F. Roney Estate. It was built in 1861. The brick is just amazing. It was all made by hand and you can actually see fingerprints and thumbprints in them. Historians tell us that it was the social hot spot back in the day. It has been a stage coach stop and a tavern. The original cobblestone path that led to the live spring at the back of the property is still there. My father-in-law remembers when you could still see the hitch posts where they tied the horses while they gathered water. We have four gorgeous ponds, beautiful fields, two barns and several neat old outbuildings. I’m not saying any of this to brag. We didn’t make it, we’re just blessed enough to be able to live here. I truly believe God spent some extra time out here. We have always felt this was the perfect place for a venue. We had our first wedding in the Green Barn back in December of 2015. It will forever and always hold a special place in my heart. That was the beginning. Since, we’ve had two more amazing weddings, a graduation party, and umpteen dozen themed birthday parties. We absolutely love having these. I never want to stop having events at our Green Barn. But it’s time to take it to the next level. We are planning to host our first ever Vintage Market for the spring of 2020. Whew! One year and a couple of months basically from today. We have so much work to get it ready. I want it to be absolutely perfect. I do so hope that you’ll join us in this journey. I am beyond excited!!
