Just got the kind of feedback that makes my heart absolutely soar. ✨

After their engagement session—starting cozy at home with their pets and then exploring one of their favorite spots, Decatur Square—the couple shared this with me:

"Tommy isn’t big on pictures, but he really loved how natural everything felt. He said this was much more comfortable for him than posing and felt more authentic."

THIS. This is exactly why I do what I do. My goal is always to create an experience that feels real, easy, and true to you. Documentary-style photography isn’t just my approach—it’s my way of helping couples feel seen, comfortable, and connected, especially during engagement sessions.

Because photos should feel like you. ❤️

Blessed Yule, all! The Solstice is almost here, and I couldn’t be more excited to welcome the return of the light! 🌟✨

This time of year always feels so magical—a chance to reflect on what’s passed, honor the cycles of nature, and set intentions for the growing days ahead. Whether it’s lighting candles, cozying up with loved ones, or spending some time outdoors to soak in the quiet beauty of winter, Yule is all about embracing warmth, connection, and renewal.

May your holiday season and new year be filled with light, love, and a touch of magic. 💫

PS Have any favorite traditions this time of year? {Yule or otherwise!} Drop them in the comments—I’d love to hear them!

In case you’re new here, hello!

My name is Raven and I’m a documentary photographer in Atlanta {well, just north anyway}, working with nontraditional couples and people who want to feel genuinely themselves in photos.

You’ll usually find me photographing weddings, couples sessions, and branding for small businesses, but really, my heart is all about helping people feel like themselves in photos.

I’m thrilled you’re here and I’m excited to welcome you into my world! Let’s be our honest-to-goodness selves.

If you’re waiting for someday to take photos, hear me out:

You’re absolutely good enough to be remembered now.
You’re more than good enough to be celebrated now.
You’re everything to the people who love you—just as you are, right now.

Your family, your kids, your partner(s)—they love you. Not some “ideal” version of you from the past or the future. You in this exact moment.

Photos aren’t about perfection. They’re about love, connection, and the life you’re living today. And I promise, the version of you right now? It’s exactly the one they’ll want to remember forever. 🖤

A First Look Doesn’t Have to Be Staged

So here’s a hot take: you don’t need a choreographed ‘first look.’ 😲 Yeah, I said it! Forget the perfectly timed moment where your partner spins around at just the right angle for the camera. Real moments are way more powerful than anything staged.

Imagine this—you’re getting ready, doing your thing, and bam, your partner walks in when the moment is totally right for the two of you. Pure, raw, emotion. Not planned, no directions—just real life unfolding in front of you. 😍

The best photos happen when you’re not even thinking about the camera. So if it feels weird to manufacture that moment, skip it! Instead, focus on being present and soaking in the day as it happens.

✨ Why I LOVE Engagement Sessions ✨

Engagement sessions are like the ultimate warm-up before the big day. No pressure, no timelines, just the two of you, being you. It’s where I get to see how you interact—how you laugh together, the way your partner looks at you when you’re not paying attention, and all the little things that make your love story one-of-a-kind.

It’s also the perfect chance for us to get comfortable together. Maybe you’re a little camera shy (totally normal!) or feel awkward in front of the lens (I’ve got you). These sessions are where we toss all that out the window. Imagine it’s like a super fun date day that I’m tagging along to document.

Plus, engagement sessions are SO versatile. Want to hang out at your favorite coffee shop, explore a hiking trail, or do something meaningful to your relationship? I’m all in. It’s not just about pretty photos—it’s about capturing you in this moment of your journey together.

So, if you’re wondering if an engagement session is worth it: YES. A million times yes. Let’s make magic together. ✨

Have an idea for your dream session? DM me, and let’s make it happen! 🖤

Mason Mill Park is a place that’s always meant a lot to Nadia & Alex; they even had some of their wedding festivities there last year! So around their first anniversary, we met back up for a family session there to explore and show their daughter Lily the brightly colored graffiti, and ended with a little outdoor dinner for the three of them, including a post-wedding cake exchange for Nadia & Alex.

Every bit of this was led by the family, which is my favorite way to photograph families. The session itself is a memory they’ve created together and as a family.

Towards the end of the session, Nadia chuckled to herself and said family photos sure were different when she was a kid, which is so true! And I’m grateful for finding myself, my style, and my people, to give them these one-of-a-kind experiences.

Thrilled to see Nicole & Alex {and their newest addition!} for their newborn session this month. I worked with them on their cat, plant, Target-run vibe engagement session, then again for their elopement on the Beltline, and now the band’s getting back together for newborn photos. I’m so excited to capture a little slice of what life looks like for them now!

✨ PSA to anyone planning their wedding: Your day doesn’t need to feel like one giant photoshoot. ✨

I just sent out an email to one of my Fall 2024 couples, helping them craft a timeline that lets them actually experience their wedding day without getting whisked away for hours of staged photos.

Here’s why

There’s NO rule saying you have to disappear from your guests to get epic wedding photos. 🤷‍♀️ Your wedding is about celebrating with the people you love, soaking in all the little moments, and being fully present with your partner—not about performing for the camera.

My job? It’s simple: I’m here to document what’s actually happening. Those stolen glances, the bursts of laughter, the hands being held, and the happy chaos as it all unfolds. 📸 I capture the moments that matter—the REAL ones—while you enjoy the party and the people who came to celebrate you.

✨ Year three with this amazing family! ✨

{Swipe to go back in time!}

There’s something so special about getting to photograph a family year after year, especially during the holidays. Watching their little ones grow, capturing new memories, and seeing how their love for each other evolves—it’s honestly the best.

Every session feels like catching up with old friends, and I love that they’ve made this a holiday tradition. It’s such a beautiful way to preserve these moments and reflect on the past year together.

I can’t wait to see what magic we create this time! 🖤

"We are part of this universe; we are in this universe, but perhaps more important than both of those facts, is that the universe is in us." - Neil deGrasse Tyson

When I recently came across this quote, I felt peace wash over me, as I tend to when I think about being a tiny soul on a floating blue marble.

It’s one of the reasons I love my job so much; I love seeing and documenting connection between people, in the space between the secular and the divine.

So, you just got your photos back—congratulations! 🎉 Now, let’s make the most of those memories.

It’s so easy to download your images and leave them floating around in the cloud or lost in your camera roll. But here’s the thing: photos really come to life when they’re printed.

Whether it's a wall display or an album, your memories deserve to be printed!

Fiona & Tiger’s Chinese/Vietnamese fusion wedding day had two parts:

Part one was at Fiona’s parents home and started with a presentation of gifts from Tiger, his side, and his family. The bridesmaids had challenges and games for Tiger and his side as they proved his “worthiness.” There was a ton of silliness and laughter and a house chock full of people. Then they had a traditional tea ceremony where the couple served tea to all the married people in their families and they, in turn, passed on a little advice to each of them. This was followed by a lunch in the backyard, where the families intermingled, chatted, and took some naps on the couches.

Then Tiger changed his tie, Fiona changed her outfit, and part two was held at a beautiful Chinese restaurant where family & friends decorated and set out a glorious desserts table! Their ceremony was up on stage and was filled with more jokes and sentimental moments, followed by a slide deck presentation from the couple that included the answers to questions they’d asked of their guests. Things like “who do you think is the better driver,” “who is more likely to forget to feed a pet,” and “who is the better cook?”

This day was chock full of life and the most glorious chaos, the kind that I absolutely live for on a wedding day!

My latest favorite holiday traditions is watching through some of the worst of the worst holiday films during Nov & Dec and giving little ratings in my stories. I’ve found some new holiday staples and some REALLY terrible watches in stride, and I love it!

Join me in my stories starting SOON {I likely won’t be able to make it long before jumping in}!

Emily & Joseph’s plans have seen their fair share of pivoting, but the pieces fell into place amazingly so I get to head to Asheville and see them again this weekend for their double-day wedding!

Throwing back to their engagement session, where we started at their house to include the furry ones, then headed for a walk in a nearby park that holds special meaning to Emily.

It’s Renn Faire season!

This fall brings both Carolina Renn Faire AND A new Georgia Fall Faire, and I couldn’t be more excited.

While I always look forward to things like the fall colors, carving pumpkins, hot drinks and hearty soups, one of the things that REALLY says fall to me is RENN FAIRE time!

What really says fall to you?

Cat & David had a tiny wedding at Wahoo! Grill, one of my favorite venues in Atlanta, and I loved their set up with ceremony and dinner in the same spot. The whole event felt intentional, with tons of together time included in the plans, everything casual and relaxed. These two are big adventurers, which reflected in their cake topper, and after a maraca send-off, we headed to a nearby park for some time for just the two of them. In a few months, they’ll have some big receptions in various places across the globe to continue the celebrations with more loved ones!

Wedding & Portrait Photography

I'M RAVEN, AND I RUN THIS JOINT.

I’m a wedding and portrait photographer based in Georgia but obsessed with traveling, emotion, and meeting badass people.

I didn’t get my start in photography in the traditional way. I got my start in photography at Medieval Times. Yep. My story began at a place where people eat with their hands, watch knights on horseback, and wear paper crowns. I didn’t go in looking for photography, and I sure didn’t expect to fall in love with photography while I was there, but that’s how love works, isn't it? You see something or someone from across the room, and you fall mad, you fall hard, and you don’t rely on anything but your gut. It’s wild and liberating, and you wouldn’t have it any other way.

I certainly feel that way about taking photographs, but I bet you know that feeling, too. I bet there have been times when you’ve trusted your heart cells as much as your brain cells. I bet you know a little something about instinct, about being true to your nature, and about falling in gorgeous, primal, unapologetic love. I bet you also fight the idea of being “put in a box” the same way a cat fights a cat carrier.
