(Please share...) 35 years ago this month, August 1989, I began a new endeavor, opening my flower shop on Haddon Ave. across from the township building in Westmont. I placed a beautiful chest of drawers in the front window, opening the top drawer just enough to house a row of flowering African violets. Then, opening the next drawer a little wider, even more African Violets. Finally, the bottom largest drawer received the lions share of the beautiful houseplants. I lit a simple halogen lamp atop highlighting the display. When I came in to work the next day, I had several inquiries regarding the new business on the Avenue. And so it began.
In celebration of this 35 year milestone for the month of August I am offering a 20% discount on any pre-paid arrangement (start $75 + local delivery + tax). This is why we never work out of any "book with pictures." This isn't in a book as choice "G-17" for mass production purposes because what you see here, the tall wands of lavender Gentian from Holland, are rare and difficult to procure as are the lavender Clematis. We shop - literally - the world markets to bring in what best fits the need and we're so grateful our clients trust us to do so. Patrons will ask "What will be in the arrangement?" I reply, "We're not sure yet, we have to check availability." But when asked, "What will it look like," the one thing I can assure them is that it will be beautiful... ❤VEMYJOB

Zoom in on the ribbon to see how I wrote “Mom-Mom.” Third photo is from her granddaughter who instructed me to use a riot of color, something I am never shy about when instructed. Third photo is from her cat waffles, who worked with us, however in the end we decided to use artificial cat toys rather than the real mouse waffles caught. 🐭

Threadleaf/Laceleaf Japanese Maple… Here, seemingly three varieties of Acer palmatum dissectum meet when, actually, the orange foliage display is growing on the green plant, an anomaly at this time of year. The green threadleaf always defaults to this striking color in the autumn. So why now? The twig these leaves are attached to may have incurred a small tear when a bird landed there, or the wind may have caused a similar injury. The flow of nutrients has been decreased and the autumn color appears, even as we experience hot weather.

The phone rings… Our 5th trip over the past few months to a recipient that is blind. We shop specifically to create these gifts to include (at her nieces request) color, scent and texture… almost medicinal. No two are ever identical, nor can they ever be. But the accolades we consistently garner are just what any florist would want to hear!
