Last day of Hokkaido, our vacation last day, Visited the Ainu museum. Tried fake thier costumes. Without first photo, other are real one. I found I love folk costumes not fashion. Can you imagine they dressed in such wear on snow? Beautiful! You may not know Ainu (we neither) Ainu are an indigenous ethnic group who reside in northern Japan and southeastern Russia. Had own culture and philosophy but old Japanese government banded them, for assimilation policies. I learn many things at the museum and found our history texts books are optimized bit. Knowing real history and culture help human and futures. I thought Edo era was peaceful but seems many small wars, Ainu was fighting against Japanese colonization. Also other minority too. And I found kimono was used assimilation policies! It is so sad to distinguish other folk costumes.each folk costumes have own beauty. With limited materials, for example, Ainu could not make cotton silk but other plans and animal skins, using such materials with own idea (Ainu embroidery has meaning) and fits nature not only cold but also Beatiful contrast with nature and own body) all folk costumes are developed for long. Kimono is beautiful but I don't deny other folk costumes beaty!
