Our shop has around 50 years history and over 3,000 costumers who are Japanese and non-Japanese. For those who you would like to buy Kimonos,

All these items are at our main shop out side of TOKYO. So please e-mail blue text info, if you are interested in buying Kimono. Our main shop will sent your items to Harajyuku therefor we ask at least 2 days before notice. When your info is not clear (

like " budget : not expensive") , we may not answer it. These info we need "what you like to have and what for it (For wearing, let me know your measurements: height&hip with cm) with budget "

After this info, I will sent our map ( location is different from Kimono rental place). Since a famous Japanese politician live same mansion as our home, security is very high . If I can not see your email with socialized behavior, we may reject your coming.

She bought this Kimono over our online in advanced and her daughter did Kimono plan so we escorted the Meiji-shrine. If you like to have photo help from us with in own Kimono, please buy the Kimono over our online in advanced like her. ( Size is limited) We can not offer outside photo help on the day you buy Kimono at our shop in parson since we don't arrange photo helper. Also Kimono needs many items to dress like her. If you just buy Kimono, we can not dress! Recently many tourists seem believe Japanese wear kimono without any tool. It is no secret magic, we need many items to dress Kimono properly. We can rent other items if you buy Kimono from us (around 12,000yen inc dressing help)

These celebrities are poplar in the shrine! Some visitors would like have photos with the girl. The antique Kimono has deeper color and fit her well. It is cold day, so we offer the shawls as complimentary. They also got the hair up by professional even after our plan, they would like to go the nail salon, so I arranged my friend salon for them. Yes seems they are really celebrities travel style!

Cut the sleeves! My black Kimono, I used to use for more parties since it is very fancy pattern, and I asked sewing lady to make it longer sleeves. Not so long as Furisode but I thought it looks more gorgeous so I could dress at parties. I dressed at many gathering and got flattering! One party was only for African origin guests at the US navy in Japan so I could not forget how they were friendly to me and I leaned how people feel if we are minority so I feel this Kimono brought me many encounter and awareness. But fo long I had no chance to dress them. These long sleeves I can still dress even after married however I feel not so confidence to dress anymore so I decided to cut the sleeves and make the same length of normal Kimono and use as my working Kimono. My team members said looks nice on me! Thanks to them so I feel more confidence to wear it. Cutting sleeves bit "mottainai" (Japanese philosophy, too good to waste) but if I don't use it, more mottainai. So nice decision!

We offer o-toso in January for all guests. It is pity yesterday we had European guests but they are sick so could not try. o-toso, is spiced medicinal sake traditionally drunk during Japanese New Year celebrations. Nowadays it is typically made from Japanese pepper, asiasari radix, apiaceae, cinnamon, dried ginger, atractylodes Japonica, Chinese bellflower and rhubarb, amongst others.Three sizes of cup, called sakazuki (盃) (see last picture), are used starting with the smallest and passed round with each family member or guest taking a sip. Drinking rituals differ by region, but in formal situations would proceed from youngest to eldest. This tradition originated in China in hope for children to grow faster whereas their elders to age slower. However, in Japan, around the beginning of the Meiji or Shōwa periods, custom changed and the head of the household usually takes the first drink.by wiki

Cool beaty! This Yukata is like visiting Kimono style. Patterns are on the certain positions looks outstanding! In January, we offer special sake try. Have you ever tried "toso"? Only new year seasons we drink but seems Weston people like the taste because of cinnamon, I suppose. This is kind of good luck for long life so I wish all guests' health and good life!

Cold? We rent such Kimono shawls as complimentary, and men's kimono come with Haori jacket. New year season's shrines have many decorations. Nice to visit for praying your good year 2025 in Kimono!

Sakaeya Kimono shop biggest supporter as well as my husband Martin enjoyed his tailer made kimono for new year gathering with our neighbors. Men's kimono is very comfortable therefor he cooked in this! New year it is time for dressing in Kimono not only for ladies but also for gentlemen too. If you have a tailer made kimono and under kimono, you just need to close kimono and under kimono then naturally good looking. Only need to learn how to tie obi but much easier then women's style! We love one movie which name Otoko wa Tsurai yo (男はつらいよ, It's Tough Being a Man) is a Japanese film series until 50th! We could see Showa era original citizens culture. New year many dressed in Kimono Including men so Martin was motivated to dress kimono. Yes he should! Otherwise I will sell his kimono!!

Welcome our first guest in 2025! He made all correct culture. He arrived in Japan last day after came to our shop on the same day then bought a Kimono set. Keep wearing then visited the Meiji-shrine. Visiting in the shrine at the new year and his first day in Japan. Visiting shrine needs good wear and so he dressed in Kimono and new year, it nice to be in new dress. He just bought brand new Kimono. Perfect! He said coming to Japan was his dream so I am so glad I could do something for guests who dreamed our country. Good start 2025!

Happy new year 2025! On behalf of Sakaeya Kimono Shop, me Ehime cat CEO want to take a moment to express gratitude for your support and trust! May your this year will be wonderful!
In Japan, New year is very important. We offer such a Mochi for new year god. I Kahori make these mochi every year and it is fun! Ehime CEO's new year is Ne Shougatsu which means lazy new year season but me Kahori works! Help our international guests to visit the shrine in Kimono. I feel honer and such nice feeling. Many non Japanese like to try Japanese culture. When I was small, how can you imagine? Our kimono shop was difficult situation since Japan became too westernaize which means for Japanese rich and wealthy. Me Kahori 2025 target is I more work for Japanese as well. We Japanese should more value own culture which means real wealth I believe!

Last guests in 2024! New shopping style. Yukata plan and dressing then get the tea ceremony. In wintertime, our Yukata is too cold to go outside but many still wish to do Yukata plan so we offer the tea ceremony in the Yukata which you got from us. And do a few photos taken for memory at the shop. They said after the tea ceremony; they feel these Yukata are more for themselves so nice to hear it. When I was preparing the sweets (the tea ceremony always come with sweets), the sweets figures are snowman and winter flowers. The tea ceremony values seasonality so sweets appearance changes by seasons. I thought it might be very funny to offer such winter appearance sweets to summer Yukata ladies. But seems they enjoyed the tea ceremony a lot!

Also mama-san dressed in our upgrade formal Kimono. She like 2 colors style which is very　gorgeous! 6people dressed in Kimono and went the shrine (second photo). Our photo helper said many said to them "beautiful or kirei!" yes they are! We thanks to them for becoming our guests and sharing time. Hope we can host many guests in 2025 too, not only rental but also selling too. Our shop is not rental shop but real Kimono shop which has rental services. We know what is authentic therefor we can rent such high-grade Kimono!

Another beautiful flower in the Meiji-shrine. The lady is in our upgrade kimono formal style and got a professional hair up. So pretty and thanks to her. She took care of her friend's kids nicely which help me a lot. Escorting the Meiji-shrine where will be very crowded from new year and need to make a long line but end of year less people. We open on end and new year! If you would like to wear Kimono for visiting the shrine, we can help you. We know less people shrine near our shop!

Soooo Kawaii! Sisters in Kimono. Little one loves this Kimono but it was too big which means very heavy for her body. We padded her and she even tried the Kimono real shoes and went to the Meiji-shrine. Well done! Elder sister's Kimono is new for rental. Got professional hair up. I think 2 flowers visited the Meiji-shrine and make there colorful.

Merry Christmas from Tokyo! Photos from our Hokkaido trip. There are uncountable Christmas trees there beside of Ainu museum yes they are kind of animism not Christian. Hokkaido especially Niseko where is very famous international ski resort, I can say Japanese are minolity. If I speak to hotel staffs or ski staffs in Japanese, they are surprised. I feel Niseko is not Japan any more. Price are very expensive and food are more for non Japanese. At Japanese ski place, there should be Oshiruko which is sweet beans soup with mochi but at Niseko hot chocolate all places not Oshiruko. I can understand food must be expensive at ski area but Niseko is more than expected and not testy for Japanese... Thats way no Japanese?! I suppose local Japanese go to smaller ski place by own drive. Niseko is very very comfortable for non Japanese tourists. You can get anything if you pay and ski area for all level from begginer to upper with real powder snow as well as beautiful views. I am sure you will fall in love if you do ski. What I want to say is next over tourism solutions is separat between local and non Japanese tourists. Like Gion in Kyoto, besides of local we can not enter some streets. Niseko is naturally separated. Local don't come but tourists come. I feel these tourist locations will be increasing.Like the famous market in Kyoto is not local market anymore but tourists market. Furthermore, Niseko get many non Japanese citizens but in Kyoto city many Japanese leave the city. Once I got an interview about over tourism from AFP. Here is my next prediction of over tourism.

Back to my loved shop! Welcome guests from San Diego! It was funny I visited the zoon in San Diego but they visited the ueno zoo in Japan! Right side lady in visiting kimono style Yukata. Pattern are certain positions as you see. Look forward to welcoming our guests more after vacation, I am so motivated!!

not shop but cultural salon we are

If you like to have only nice photos in Kimono, our shop may be not best for you. But if you like culture, our salon would love to have you. Tea ceremony is always come with our kimono rental. Also shopping, we have deep knowledge of how to wear Kimono properly and which occasion and sash is much however if you can not be socialized behavior, our salon can not open to the parson. For example, try so many things and make salon messy or dose not share real Information of your demand( size, budged) . Our salon’s goal is not making money but help people who like to know real Japanese cultuer and both of us appreciate each other.

Culture needs humanistic life so we don’t work like economic animal so please always book us in advanced if you would like to come to us. Let’s have cultural moment together
