Rental Kimono&sell Yukata, second hand, authentic Kimono. A small family run over 60years shop The shop for selling Kimono is also my home in Harajyuku.

Our shop has around 50 years history and over 3,000 costumers who are Japanese and non-Japanese. For those who you would like to buy Kimonos,

All these items are at our main shop out side of TOKYO. So please e-mail blue text info, if you are interested in buying Kimono. Our main shop will sent your items to Harajyuku therefor we ask at least 2 days before notice. When your info is not clear (

like " budget : not expensive") , we may not answer it. These info we need "what you like to have and what for it (For wearing, let me know your measurements: height&hip with cm) with budget "

After this info, I will sent our map ( location is different from Kimono rental place). Since a famous Japanese politician live same mansion as our home, security is very high . If I can not see your email with socialized behavior, we may reject your coming.

In Oct, suddenly Sakaeya Kimono shop became busy which is good because in this year, I took 2 times longer holidays so need to work more. Ehime CEO cat helps me to fix our homepage and check emails together with me. She said "look Facebook cover photo still summer Kimono guests. It is Oct not summer anymore!" right, so need to find a photo to fit. Also, I must go to eyeglass shop. I cannot see closer because of aged eyes!

Pretty and cheerful ladies in Kimono with hijab! Nice color coordinate! Flowers on hijab is cute, isn't it? We had very happy time with them. We learn about hijab from them! Thanks for sharing your culture!

Yukata for out going shopping guests can add hair up. Please select the mark on the booking form when you submit. She wanted to have make up as well but impossible. I am not the hair and make up parson. We need to arrange a professional. Our friends hair salon offer only hair up not make up. Luckily this lady could get hair up on the day but chance is low!

I love fireworks or hanabi. And after getting know hanabi was "pray for the soul of the dead" in edo era in japan. I more love it. I hope my papa in law also enjoys it with us. Hanabi used to be in summer culture in Japan but nowadays, because of heat, some of them change the season. Last weekend, I enjoyed one hanabi in Tokyo. Seems many hanabi are coming autumn and winter (not in Tokyo) so hope you have chance to see them and pray for the dead.

A beautiful visiting kimono or homongi was sold. Soft color and gold orange obi is authentic. Kimono makes women more feminine, I feel. She is so beautiful in the kimono! She got everything including zori shoes as well. Watch out! She may be at your party in USA!

The secret Yukata shopping! The gentleman did not know but they dressed up in Yukata. Our neighbors have pretty maple trees so helped their photos as complimentary. She got hair up by professional! Hope she ordered us in advanced then we can offer make up as well! Please let us know in advance if you like to have hair and make up. It is miracle we could last minute book hair up on Sunday!

She has Japanese origine and these families past away sadly so kimono is Hommage for them. It was busy day but I want to share time with her bit more when I saw her tears. Honest is beautiful!

Still many like to dress in Yukata. Kimono needs many items so Yukata is simpler! It is October but still in Tokyo over 25 degrees daytime. But food become autumn test!

To look for tailer made kimono for one non Japanese customer, visited our business partner. They showed me paper stencil visiting kimono homongi. Homongi need to have pattern on certain place so used to be all hand free painting but nowadays using pc supports, they can make with stencil. Of course it is made in japan Kyoto and still with human made. Looks sewn but not. To show pattern they make temporary sewing. Once they take out all threads and steam then make really sewing which will take around one month. Price is not so expensive than what I expected since it is not hand painted but paper stencil painted. Which do you like?

This pretty plus size Yukata was sent to one small island in Australia! Can't imagine how our guest will dress there at her beautiful small island where is famous for penguin. Our shop will send our items to your home outside of Japan if it is possible. Now USA we cannot use Japan post but still we can use UPS. At the end of this year, Japan post will end the small packets which is inexpensive tracking air delivery (maximum 2kg)! It is so pity. Delivery price will be very up. For example, to Europe, Canada, Oceania, Middle east 2kg, the small packet 4390yen but next year will be 6700yen by EMS! Harry up if you like to have something from us! One set of Yukata for outgoing is still under 2kg!

We will not see such closed gate at the Meiji-shrine since we can only visit there when they open. Moreover, you can't visit the shrine after dark. Shinto shrines open from sunrise until sunset as Amaterasu Ōmikami is the goddess of the sun. I am a member of the Meiji-shrine and so I got such invitation to formal worship the Meiji-shrine at nighttime and got honor to learn the purified invocation (which is really rare to know!) and many cultural manors and philosophy. Very inspiring! Shintoism does not have written dogma as well as Shintoism priests connect ordinally people with Kami(god) so we don't need to know invocations etc.. But many ideas they kindly shared with us. Also, priests suggested us to feel nature there (center of Harajuku) which is really animism! Actually, singing of insects are too big so nearly noisy! I hear trees rustling and swaying in the wind even next to Harajyuku station. Trees make real dark even we can feel night sky has light. Comparison is so beatiful and one star is shining between tress. I hope our shop can share many wisdoms of Shintoism when you are here. I have not known so much Shintoism so I was afraid to say myself "I am Shintoism" but now I can say my heart is part of Shiitism. ( sorry I am not in Kimono since they recomend us to wear long sleeved white shirt with casual shoes. When you visit shrines, you also dress in long sleeves items do not show your skins too much) #明治神宮

They are coming back to us! Our shop loves repeaters, so we offer upgraded Kimono! Please return to us. We love to know how you are doing and communicate more. Actually, Kimono shop is really long relationship with customers. My late uncle who was one of founder of Sakaeya Kimono shop said he knew all customers family members including their pets as well. Because Kimono will be past to next generation and sometime they need to change the Kimono sizes or get order new kimono for their daughters to get married etc.. Even Japanese don't know the cultural rules, so we often give some ideas of Kimono. Which family crest they should use or non crests, formal or non formal. It is very deep relationship to know customer's circumstances.

not shop but cultural salon we are

If you like to have only nice photos in Kimono, our shop may be not best for you. But if you like culture, our salon would love to have you. Tea ceremony is always come with our kimono rental. Also shopping, we have deep knowledge of how to wear Kimono properly and which occasion and sash is much however if you can not be socialized behavior, our salon can not open to the parson. For example, try so many things and make salon messy or dose not share real Information of your demand( size, budged) . Our salon’s goal is not making money but help people who like to know real Japanese cultuer and both of us appreciate each other.

Culture needs humanistic life so we don’t work like economic animal so please always book us in advanced if you would like to come to us. Let’s have cultural moment together
