🎶⭐️⭐️⭐️Wow! Thankyou to each and every one of you who came along to the first Ceilidh Culture event this weekend. I am so inspired by the enthusiasm and energy you brought with you. We had brilliant workshops through Friday and Saturday with young people embracing all that Sophie, Grant and I shared with them. Not forgetting a popular adult dance workshop too! 👌 Our ceilidh on Friday night was packed and the floor full for every dance with fantastic music from Shore Road Ceilidh Band. It was so lovely to see everyone from babes in arms to Grandparents (and everybody in between) enjoying music, song and dance together as a community. Thankyou to Wallace Hall Academy String Group for performing brilliantly while we had a break from dancing and to those of you who helped stack chairs and tidy up at the end of the night (much appreciated). Special thanks to my fellow tutors Sophie Stephenson and Grant Dinwoodie for their fantastic expertise and talents which were everything I imagined (and more!) when I first dreamed up this idea. Thankyou also to Creative Scotland and the Tasgadh (traditional arts small grant) fund for their support in helping facilitate the workshops. ❤️ More coming soon! Emily😊⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🎶

Still time to book into our workshops on Friday 5th & Saturday 6th April - school aged children can come and try traditional song with Emily Smith, drama with Grant Dinwoodie and Scottish step dance with Sophie Stephenson. Adults also have the chance to step dance and of course the whole family is welcome to our family ceilidh on Friday night!

What is Scottish Step Dance? I've had a few folk ask me that in the last week. It's not line dancing, it's not tap dancing or clogging....It's a very old dance tradition belonging to Scotland and I think it's fab and definitely needs to be seen more🤩 Here is our wonderful tutor Sophie giving none other than Darcey Bussell a lesson!!

Scottish Step Dance workshops for children and adults are in Thornhill Community Centre on Saturday 6th April. Sophie will also perform at our family ceilidh on Friday 5th.
