🌈 NOT GAY AS IN HAPPY, Q***R AS IN F**K YOUR BIGOTRY 🌈 Did you know that in the 1950s, during the McCarthy era, Proms were implemented into school curriculums to fight homosexuality and reinforce heterosexuality? They were also used to promote strict gender stereotypes. Proms were also racially segregated, where POC were not allowed to attend the same Prom as white students. With Q***r Prom we are reclaiming and carving out spaces that we were historically denied. In a terrifying time reminiscent of Thatcher's reign where hate crime against the LGBTQ+ and POC community, particularly against Trans Women of Colour, is on the rise, it is even more important that we create, protect and grow these spaces. We are here, we are unapologetically fu***ng q***r and we are not going anywhere.
