Sofar Sounds is a movement which brings music lovers together in an intimate setting. Songs From A Room offers artists and music fans the unique opportunity to perform and experience intimate gigs in packed living rooms regularly. The movement is now going global with shows happening in New York, Paris, London and many other cities worldwide. Songs From a Room began in March 2009 in the living roo
m of singer songwriter and co-founder Passion Ate Dave. It is an innovative concept, dedicated to bringing the best of new music to an unplugged, intimate, unusual space or venue. Our 3 artist opportunities are open for applications, and there's ways for artists at all levels to get involved.
*mjf soundcheck
8-week programme for 18-25yr olds based in Greater Manchester, who want to take new risks in their music and experiment with improvisation.
*mjf hothouse
6-month PAID programme for Northern based artists working in jazz and improvisation, to identify and overcome personal barriers, and make new music with creative and industry support.
*mjf originals
Our open-call commission for Northern based/ affiliated artists to submit a proposal for an ambitious new work. There is no set genre, duration, presentation or expectation for this - we're looking for your ideas!
