The “Araw ng Davao” celebration is held every first quarter of the year to commemorate the month the city’s charter was signed by President Manuel Quezon in 1936 and that took effect on March 1, 1937. The signing signified the creation of Davao as a chartered city.

One of the significant activities of the yearly celebration for the “Araw ng Dabaw” is an event recognizing the private sector in its contributions to the economic development and overall welfare of the City. This event is called the “Pasidungog: Garbo sa Dabaw.” The event highlights the strong partnership between the local government units and the private sector in effecting programs and initiatives in various areas of society.
