Launching into the Grand Cedar Race at the Thunderhawk Wide Open bike event! We timed it just right at dusk, giving our racers the coolest ride of the day with a stunning sky as their backdrop and a gentle breeze to lift their spirits. Let the adventure over miles of gravel and through TWO river crossings! 🌄💨

This race is no small feat - a whopping 115 miles of pure determination and grit! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️ That's right, you heard it correctly - 115 miles! It's an epic journey that'll have our riders pushing their limits for around 3-4 hours. I'm absolutely blown away by the incredible athletes who took on this challenge. It's a remarkable testament to their unwavering dedication and countless hours of training.

👏 But wait, there's something even more remarkable to celebrate! A huge shout-out to our very own superwoman, Danci Lynn Hoff , who's not just conquering this race but making history as the FIRST woman to tackle it! 🙌👑 Her determination and strength are an inspiration to us all. Let's shower her and all our incredible racers with the admiration they deserve! 🏁🥇

I had the best time capturing cherished moments with these amazing folks. Several of these immediate families live in South Dakota and one family lives in Alaska, so when they all get together, it's a fantastic idea to take family photos!! Our shot list included groups, immediate families, couples, kids, cousins and individual photos. Despite a windy morning, we managed to discover a serene spot with just a hint of a breeze which was perfect for photos. 💨💕

🌅 Summer evenings + breathtaking views = the perfect setting for engagement photos! 💍✨David & Rachel joined me at Chief Looking's Village in Bismarck, ND, where love and nature collide in the most beautiful way 📸🌿

🌸We began in the Sonali's Garden, which is a relatively new installation to the park. The garden is full of blooming flowers, decorative grasses, a gazebo and bench that make this such a gorgeous location for engagement photos. We strolled down the paved trail and stopped twice- once at The Lover's Boulder (that's not it's official name, it's just what I call it) and a park bench.

What could be more romantic than the sun beginning to set and the Missouri River flowing below?! 😊💑

The future is here!!

I'm truly amazed by Adobe's latest beta release of Generative AI in Photoshop. To experience this groundbreaking feature, I had to download an entirely new beta version of Photoshop and familiarize myself with this innovative tool. With it, I can effortlessly remove unwanted objects, seamlessly insert new elements, or even expand the boundaries of a photo. I've been experimenting with the app for about a month now, and I must say, it's absolutely incredible! While it's not flawless all the time, it's undeniably impressive.

In the images I've worked on, I skillfully eliminated distracting elements from the background and expanded the images to make them more visually impactful. Witness the remarkable transformations in these before and after shots!

Sheldon & Kylee 💍

What an enchanting engagement session this was! We ventured to one of the most captivating locations in the Black Hills: Sylvan Lake. Dressed to the nines, we explored the area, capturing breathtaking photos at every picturesque spot (let's be real, that's everywhere). Sylvan Lake happens to be not only my personal favorite, but also a beloved destination for tourists, resulting in a bustling atmosphere. However, thanks to modern editing techniques, removing people from the background is a breeze.

As we spent time together, I had the opportunity to get to know Kylee and Sheldon on a deeper level. It turns out they share a mutual love for playing games, just like Carson and I do! Kylee's passion for reading resonated with me (we even like similar genres), and Sheldon's interests align with Carson's. It felt like we would be part of the same friend circle if we lived closer!

I had an absolute blast getting acquainted with these two, and I eagerly anticipate introducing them to Carson on their wedding day. Carson and I are thrilled to be the photographers for their wedding, and we simply can't wait!

I invested in a new macro lens last year, specifically designed for capturing intricate details of rings. 📸 Since then, I can't imagine how I managed without it! The photos it produces are truly awe-inspiring. With this lens, I can get up close and personal, capturing every intricate detail of the ring. I'm truly in love with it.

Kirby & Brady 💍

I had an amazing experience capturing Kirby & Brady's engagement photos. I journeyed to Kirby's family ranch, located a little south of Golva, ND, for this memorable session. We beautifully incorporated the future site of their home, their adorable dog, their cattle, and the land that once belonged to Kirby's beloved grandpa.

Photographing them was a breeze, and I eagerly anticipate their upcoming wedding day on August 19th in Lemmon!!

Tonight!! 🤱🏼

Hopefully, baby Schnell will be on the way soon. Our plan is to get induced at midnight if the hospital has enough room for us at Labor & Delivery. Fingers crossed they do! I'm ready to be done being pregnant and so ready to meet our little one. Baby Schnell is already so loved 💞

For the next few days, please expect slower reply time to messages and emails. I will not be answering phone calls. If you need to reach out, please text, message or email!

For the next few weeks, expect more of the same, but I will be answering my phone once I'm back home 😉

I'm writing this in the morning and my plan for this morning and early afternoon is to stay in my office, schedule social media posts (so look out for Brittanyography in your feed!) and send out the last few sessions that I've photographed & edited recently. If you don't receive your session by the end of today, I will be sending it to you sometime next week or so!📸

We can’t get enough of that once-in-a-lifetime feeling on every bride’s special day. 💍 Our goal is to capture the most memorable moments with her closest gals that will be cherished for a lifetime. 🤍 Lindsey's crew included her bridesmaids Samantha, Jennifer, Lisa and Emily as well as her mother and her flower girl, Savannah.

Philip and his crew included his groomsmen (Luke, Scott, Andrew Brandon and Gabe), ushers, his ring bearer (Wade) and his mother. While I was with the ladies, Carson was able to capture the special moment of Philip's mom pinning on Philip's boutonniere 🌸 and the gentlemen of the wedding party praying over Philip. There's nothing quite like a groom being surrounded and supported by those closest to him on his wedding day.

I enjoy working with Carson and value the perspective he brings to each wedding gallery. Our height differences and photographic style give us each a unique perspective that allows us to create a well rounded gallery. We view each scenario differently through the lens of our cameras and I'm always proud of the work we create together 📷

In November Carson and I took a trip to Vegas to attend the Wedding MBA conference- an event for all wedding professionals- photographers, venues, florists, DJs, planners- if they work with you on your wedding day, they were there! We attended several seminars with speakers from around the world, connected with other wedding professionals and spent our early evenings on the strip!!
I wore my roller skates all around Vegas and enjoyed holding Carson's hand for support on my new wheels. It was amazing getting to experience Vegas together and I'm glad we got to enjoy one last trip before we become a family of three.
I didn't want to pack my entire camera setup, so I brought a little point and shoot- enjoy these low quality images of a high quality time!

Home is where the love lives – there’s nothing quite like it!! Capturing Thomas’s first day at home with his mom and dad is a memory that will last a lifetime.

Before our photoshoot, I whipped up breakfast while Trent and Destiny cared for Thomas. While most in my hometown might recall a Brittany that couldn’t make boiled water without messing up the recipe, over the last few years of cooking for Carson and I, I’ve turned into quite the chef (if I do say so myself!) After a breakfast of French toast, bacon, eggs and fruit we dove into taking photos of Trent, Destiny and Thomas.

By then, most of the Boyd & Kay Reimnitz family arrived and we all took turns posing with Thomas. He pretty much slept through the whole session, but we will all cherish these photos forever.

In the days following, after I already returned home, Trent’s family and the remainder of Destiny’s family visited and took photos with Thomas in the same spot. Destiny sent me the photos to include in her gallery- a bonus of working together for several years is that we could help these images feel seamless from one shot to the next.

I spent several hours at the hospital with Trent, Destiny and their new baby boy- Thomas! I had the pleasure of documenting several of Thomas’s firsts- his first time being held by many of his family members, the first time Trent changed his diaper and his very first meal from his mother.

The miracle of life is incredible. I’m still stunned from experiencing these moments.

Welcome to the world, Thomas Edward Rohrer!!! 🎉

Congratulations to my (not so little sister) and her husband- Destiny Rohrer and Trenton Rohrer!!!

Nothing compares to the incredible power and strength of a woman as she takes on one of the biggest challenges of her life - giving birth. 💪

This February, I was honored to capture such a beautiful moment as my nephew entered this world. 🥰 The emotion and love shared between Trent, Destiny and their brand new baby boy, Thomas, was unforgettable. After over a day of labor, Thomas entered the world, breathed his first breath, snuggled his mother and gave a roaring (like his namesake) cry. Trent cut the cord and Thomas had his first meal- a miracle from his mother’s body.

In the weeks since, Thomas has been growing at high speed. He is almost ready to move on from his 0-3 month clothes to the 3-6 month size and he’s not even two months old yet!! Destiny and I have spent several hours on the phone discussing his eating, pooping and sleeping habits. "I never thought I would be so excited to know someone pooped" Destiny told me one day as she changed Thomas.

After special dances, it's time for everyone to get their boogie on! I was so excited to see Eclectic Wreck performing at Jen & Michael's wedding. Their classic sound filled the dance floor like no other, making it a night to remember. Who else loves live bands?⁣⁣

Wedding cake is the first dessert you will share as a married couple! It's a sweet moment *pun intended* for you and your boo.

I generally photograph cake cutting with a strobe (or two) to light up the moment and make your photos stand out. Using strobes allows me to drop my ISO (how sensitive the camera sensor is) and avoid image grain altogether. The less light, the more sensitive the sensor needs to be to compose an image- the more grain in the image; the more light, the less sensitive the sensor needs to be- less image grain.

Just look at how crisp and detailed Jen & Michael's images are!

Phew, what a handsome videographer!!🥵🥵

I love working events with Carson!! He's a phenomenal photographer and he's been growing his videography skills as well! It's been a joy to watch his style and technical skills grow and evolve.

He has a photojournalistic style- preferring to capture moments as they unfold, in their natural state. He likes to be a fly on the wall- not disturbing the flow of your moment. He excels at composition- creating unique images that I would never think to compose in the same manner. He constantly knocks my socks off and I'm so proud of him. He's an awesome husband and fantastic photo/video teammate. I love him so much 🥹🥰

Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life, so capture every special moment. At Brittanyography, my team and I understand how important photos are in preserving memories, which is why I encourage our couples to photograph their friends and family.

Family photos are often used in wedding albums or hung on the wall for years to come, so it's important to make them a top priority. I always ask the whole family to remain in the same area until photos are completely finished so we can easily access each person for photos. That way we don't have to run all over the venue to find so-and-so.

If I see an individual, couple or family that are close to the bride and groom, I do my best to take photos of them- of course these images aren't my top priority, but if I can grab them, I will!! Couples can slip these prints in with their Thank You cards as an extra way to say thank you for making their day so special!

I LOVE matching background and subject colors when possible. Here we pulled from the deep red/maroonish color of Michael's tie and everyone's flowers. It's a subtle yet effective trick to help each subject stand out!
Another thing I love to do is separating subjects and backgrounds. If the subject is further away from the background than I am to the subject; then the background will be blown out. This is how I achieve that c-r-e-a-m-y affect.
Combining these two techniques creates the images you can see here!!

On chilly days, it's a top priority to take photos quickly and effectively so everyone (especially the ladies) can warm up in coats or head inside. On Jen's wedding day, we huddled in coats right before each image for maximum comfort. Because everyone paid attention, we sailed through photos and went inside to heat up.

I love taking as many formal photos before the ceremony as possible so I always recommend a couple's first look! Jen and Michael felt the same way and opted to have a private first look- so private that I'm not even going to share their photos 🤯 The moment was so special and because they have photos, they can live it over and over again.
Instead I'll share a few of their couple's images taken shortly after the first look. I had a blast taking these- I loved playing with Jen's veil! The photos of the duo looking at each other make me so emotional. I'm so happy for my friends 🥹

Guys getting ready photos are generally less chaotic than what's going on in the bridal suite. I have a few prompts that make getting ready photos quick and easy:

Everyone should be dressed by the time I arrive- camera ready! I'll ask the groom to put on his jacket and button his coat. If his best man is around, he can help! If his mother is around, I'll have her pin on his boutonniere. Next, adjust his tie and tie his shoes. If he's wearing a special watch or family heirloom, I make sure to capture that as well. If we can, I'll photograph a photo of him with the other gentlemen in the room and I'll be on my way. My visits are generally about five to ten minutes long, which allows me to spend more time with the ladies.
