MEET THE COMMITTEE!

Hey Cougars - It's time to meet another Cougar Nation Committee Member. Catch up with Lisa Marshall Drumheller, Class of '89

After graduation, Lisa went to college at Frostburg State University. Upon graduating, she immediately pursued her career in Human Resource Management and has worked in HR for various organizations since 1995. Life has been good! In 1996, Lisa married her high school sweetheart, Cliff Drumheller (class of 1991). They have a daughter and twin boys that continue to keep them on their toes. All three of Lisa's children also graduated from Catoctin. It has been a blessing for Lisa to have her children grow up in the same community and with children whose parents also went to Catoctin and are still some of her best friends today.

We asked Lisa:

What's one thing you're hoping to do at the reunion that will make it special for you?
"One of the things I have always loved about our school is the close-knit, supportive spirit we've shared. I'm really hoping to reconnect with old friends and classmates and hear some of the stores from the past that I might've forgotten. I'm also thrilled that this reunion is spanning across so many classes because I feel like many of us definitely felt close and connected to people outside of our own class."

Is there a song, band or trend from the 80's that brings back great memories for you?
"Anyone who really knows me will understand when I say the big hair 80's bands are still my jam! I have been to so many concerts from that era and my car radio stays on Hair Nation. Kix was always one of my favorites and I am proud to say that I was there for their last show ever, last September. Listening to those old songs, even today, instantly takes me back to some of the best memories of our time at Catoctin - dances, road trips and moments that still make me smile. I'm looking forward to making new memories listening to those songs at our reunion this year! Looking forward to seeing everyone this summer!”

Thank you for your contributions and efforts towards making the Cougar Nation Reunion Event a reality, Lisa!

Catch up with Lisa this August. Have you registered yet?!?

MEET THE COMMITTEE!

Hey Cougars, it’s time to catch up with the Cougar Nation Reunion Event Committee! First up, Linda Parks (D'Amico) from the Class of 1990.

After graduating, Linda went to college in Atlanta, and ended up staying in Georgia for 10 years. She then returned back home to Maryland and has settled in Washington County. Linda works remotely in clinical research software operations. She is most proud of her four children ranging from 13-30 years old.

A few years ago, Linda casually discussed organizing a multi-year reunion, and finally decided to enlist a few friends to help bring the vision to life. We asked:

What’s your vision for the reunion?
“I really want it to feel like you are stepping back in time. I love any type of reunion but wanted to make this one an event and special by including multiple years and throwing a huge party.”

What’s the most important part of the event that you feel will make it memorable for everyone?
“Definitely opening it up to multiple years so people can reconnect with old friends they might not normally have the chance to. I also really want to pay tribute to the era we grew up in and our school and mascot. This event and the activities we have been planning are going to be really special, so I hope we get the chance to bring it to life."

What kind of activities or entertainment can we expect to see at the reunion?
“We’ll have multiple ways to go back in time to the ‘80s, along with some fun and unique ways to capture the evening’s memories.”

How can we get the word out to as many people as possible and encourage them to register?
“I’d love for everyone to share and promote the event. We need way more registrations to make this happen. Unfortunately, we’ll need to cancel soon if we don’t get enough alumni registered, so please don’t wait to sign up!”

Look out for more Meet the Committee posts coming soon!

Hey Cougars 🐾

It's time for another "Where Are They Now?" segment, featuring Melissa Eiker-Beck, Class of '89.

Melissa’s journey has been one of growth, family, and new beginnings. She has a 32-year-old son, Jason, from her first marriage, along with a stepdaughter, Felicia, and two grandchildren – a granddaughter and a new grandson. Melissa reconnected with her husband, Christopher, in 2010, and the two married in 2017.

Melissa spent 15 years working in childcare while earning her BA in Early Childhood Development. She then transitioned into roles with Crossmark, and later as a Club Supervisor at Advantage Solutions.

When COVID hit, Melissa lost her job but found a new path as an In-Home Caregiver for Heritage. Along with Christopher, she cares for two special-needs stray rescue cats, and they live in Chambersburg, PA. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending quality time with her husband and bonding with her rescue cats.

We hope to see Melissa at the Cougar Nation reunion event in August. Have you registered yet?

Attention Cougar Nation!

We are nearing a critical point where we may need to cancel our event due to a lack of registrations.

Remember - this isn’t just a typical reunion—it’s a special celebration for the Classes of 1987–1991 to come together and honor our graduation years in a truly elevated fashion.

The evening promises to be unforgettable, with multiple events planned throughout the night, but we need your support to make this vision a reality. A much larger volume of registrations is required over the next 30–60 days to move forward.

Please consider registering today to ensure this unique event happens. If cancellation becomes necessary, all registrants—past and future—will receive refunds.

Let’s make this happen! Register now and spread the word!

Hey, Cougars 🐾

It’s time for another “Where Are They Now?” This week, we’re featuring Brant Webb, Class of ’89.

Brant continues to call the Thurmont area home, where he lives with his wife of 16 years, Mary Webb, and their two sons, Colin (24) and Bracen (14).

After graduating from Catoctin, Brant began working at Eastalco Aluminum Company in Buckeystown, where he remained until the plant’s closure in 2005. Seizing the opportunity to pursue his lifelong dream of working in law enforcement, Brant graduated from the Western Maryland Police Academy in 2006 and was hired as a Deputy Sheriff in Carroll County.

Brant’s career as a Deputy Sheriff was nothing short of distinguished. His dedication and excellence earned him numerous accolades, including Police Officer of the Year, Maryland Sheriff’s Deputy of the Year, a Medal of Valor, the Purple Heart, and multiple awards for Impaired Driving Enforcement. A natural leader, Brant served as both a patrol deputy and a Corporal.

During his tenure, Brant faced several life-threatening incidents. In 2010, he was nearly shot during an officer-involved shooting during a traffic stop. Later, in 2016, he survived a head-on collision when a suicidal driver struck his patrol car at 95 MPH. Brant underwent multiple surgeries at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and spent months in physical therapy. Despite these challenges, he returned to light duty and served as a Detective/Corporal in the Major Crimes Unit.

Unfortunately, injuries sustained in the collision ultimately forced Brant to medically retire in 2020. While this was not the ending Brant envisioned for his law enforcement career, it gave him a newfound appreciation for life.

Today, Brant enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends. He works for the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA (High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) program as a Drug Intelligence and Overdose Analyst, continuing to make a meaningful impact in the community.

Thank you, Brant, for your dedication and service!

Dawn joined the military in 1998, serving in the Army before being medically discharged after a serious accident. While serving in Korea, she met her husband, who was also in the Army.

Dawn and her husband have two wonderful daughters, ages 35 and 23, and a 7-year-old grandson who keeps them on their toes. After living in Clearwater, FL, they recently moved to Jonesborough, TN.
