Music starts at the station from 1pm and the first journey is 3pm. With 2 zones each on the train, I am DJ in the Coup from 5:15-6:00 for journey #3 departing Glenbrook station.

All I’ve ever wanted is to DJ at InkBar every now and then. Can you imagine how I felt when I got this message from Andy Mack last night?

“Hey mate howzit? hey filling a weekend this weekend and have sha kra doing 2-4,ink.She suggested you for12-2?”

My first feelings were not what I expected. I noticed that the spaces from the last sentence must have accidentally teleported to the line above when he was typing the message. Perhaps an old buggy android cellphone issue, or a faulty Apple Macintosh keyboard. Either way, I felt a little uneasy reading it.

Secondly was that I have so much love for Sharkra One of my dearest friends in the world. Thank you 🙏🏼

Thirdly was that nervous excitement of playing whatever I like and think will do the best on that rig in between two prominent figures like Sandy & Shar.

You know who you are, I would love to see you.

I gathered all of my finest non-pirated waves, paid one gold coin and cruised to Te Ārai, Friday at noon aboard HMS Van Gogh with Captain Sea Cucumber.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Captain Logan Baker for a pōwhiri and had soon prepared a basic buivoac on the outskirts of town. Our crew rallied and explored the region for treasure.

The woods were foaming with wild beasts and the spirits of lost ancestors, I didn’t care, I have scouted this land before and felt safe with our posse, most of them are friendly but some were fierce.

We took refuge at one of the many safe havens abroad, starting with the Humming Hut foretold by my son, Captain Oliver John Silver.

There, our first mate, Captain CJ Funkowfield had tail feathers scally-wagging on deck above Shipwrecked shoreline as we gathered with the other travellers for rum and a boogie.

We reconvened and were treated to meeting friends, old and new near the large capsized vessel that had Shipwrecked centuries ago. The surrounding woods had become overrun with beasts and wild spirits who too were welcomed to the party.

The next morning I was awoken by the voices of my first mates, we bantered and made a game plan for Saturday. A swim was in order, we eased out to the pontoon and took pleasure in the acoustics of the Humming Hut from underwater and of course had an underwater dance-off.

On the horizon boasts a Lucky Star that fell and still miraculously glimmers, with an array of illusions beyond your wildest dreams, bodies and souls were invigorated by the sound that bellowed through the Jellyfish’s belly, experiencing peculiar sounds before we met the Lorax who told a tale of kidnapping, ransom and lust.

The Hidden Reef provided the freshest sashimi, we went hoping for tuna sushi, but were met by Sojøurn and were served a 5 course dégustation of fresh NZ fish prepared by Michelin Star chefs.

We headed back to camp and ate cheese with a vegan to the backdrop of an enchanting sunset, taking photographs while being serenaded by a mystical travelling flûtiste.

I was drunk at sunset, I went back to headquarters and fell asleep with a 5:30am date with the Janky Mermaid aboard the Nora Jean.

I woke at 5 and snoozed, I was late and shivering me timbers so I wore my penguin wetsuit and swiftly ran to the dock. Luckily the boat was departing 30 minutes late so I took refuge in the safest place I know, The Nga Wini, who sunk just off shore before the land was explored, I met with German privateer, Markus and a random traveller, sipped rum straight and yarned while waiting for the Nora Jean to depart.

It was 6am and a deep, eerie voice told me that I was now the captain, The jealous Janky Mermaid turned on us and summoned a storm for me to sail through...

If anyone is reading this, the Nora Jean is at the bottom of the sea, we sunk but survived, I’m shipwrecked at a very isolated region and this is my message in a bottle sent February 9th 2020.

I have such immense memories forged deep in my mind from my first ever Kiwiburn experience with Hijinxx in 2021. It will go down as one of the most valuable experiences in my life.

Being part of a sound camp and putting in so much work based around this special festival really took it out of me. So much so that I didn’t expect to be able to do this again anytime soon. However, I was lucky in the step queue for the ticket lottery and decided that I would take Shar Kra up on that offer to join Psychedelicacies sound camp.

So, I head to Hunterville Tuesday morning solo on a quest to help create something extraordinary upon the paddock alongside 2000 angels.

If you’re around, hit us up at Psychedelicacies at the top of the paddock, I am DJing Wednesday and Saturday nights plus some extra sneaky sets in the pipeline.
