We are happy to share that Ishan Acharya would serve as the next PG President of the Bacchus Society! Currently pursuing his Master's degree at Brookes, he will ensure the assimilation of the PG cohort with the events of Bacchus and provide direction to the society!

Bacchus society is organising a Networking and Careers tour to London!

Two hotels would be visited:

1. Canopy by Hilton London City - it is a stunning new hotel in one of Europe's most fashionable neighbourhoods, London's East End.

The excursion to this hotel will provide students with a tour of the property as well as some light food. The director of Human Resources and other department heads will be present, allowing us to connect with various management and get career advice. This visit will also provide us with an understanding of the Management Trainee programme and other career prospects with the hotel.

2. Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park - this is a luxurious 5 star hotel situated between the glorious Royal Parkland and fashionable Knightsbridge.

The excursion to this hotel will provide students with a hotel tour as well as some Q&A sessions along with a presentation about the company, and a speech from some of the current interns from Oxford Brookes in their company.

A detailed Itinerary will be shared after the closing of ticket sales.

For those who celebrate, the Bacchus Society wishes everyone a very happy and joyous Makar Sankranti! 🥳🪁

The festival is celebrated across India and a few other countries with a lot of enthusiasm. It is known by different names in different parts of the country, and marks the onset of the warmer months and longer days, and a good harvest season.

Usually spanning across two days, people celebrate by flying kites, eating delicious traditional food (Undhiyu) and spending time with family and friends.

Veganuary is a British charity which encourages individuals to sign up for a challenge, to adopt vegan food and drinks for an entire month (January). It aims to reduce the negative impact of human food consumption patterns on animals, marine life and nature, by encouraging individuals to adopt veganism.

The organisation provides vegan meal plans and ideas, as well as nutritional advice.

Nearly 629,000 people signed up for the challenge in 2022. Do you want to take up the challenge in the new year?

Bacchus Society organised a French Cheese Tasting 🧀, involving 8 different families of cheese, on 21 November.

The interactive session was taken by Mr. Mathieu Mouwakdie, the Treasurer of the Bacchus Society. Participants were informed of the origin and qualities of the different kinds of cheese, and were able to taste all of them too!🥳

💫 A successful careers event! 💫

Oxford Brookes Business School and the Bacchus Society organised a careers talk on 29 November at Oxford Brookes University, Headington Campus. It was led by the recent graduates of Oxford Brookes University's hospitality students, and two reputed hotel mentors.

Students across the undergraduate and postgraduate cohorts of Hospitality and Tourism Management attended the event, which saw a few panel discussions and one-to-one interaction between students, the alumni and the hotel mentors.

The event was a grand success and fruitful for students. Here are some glimpses from the same.

🍷 6 wines, amazing vibes! 🍷

The Bacchus Society's wine masterclass, by James Franklin () on 30 November, was one to remember!

James guided the students of Oxford School of Hospitality Management through six different wines, talking about their origin, taste, smell and other facts. The students had a chance to taste all the six wines, ranging from Prosecco, Contrade Bellusa, Whispering Angel to Malbec 😋😋

It was a fun🥳, chill😊 (and chilly🥶) evening made warm by James' hospitality and the wines! 🍷. We look forward to another masterclass soon!
