Prescription Hugs is a project established nearly 10 years ago in the forests of South Lake Tahoe with the intent to honor the healing power connection while illustrating the concept of duality – balancing light and dark, soft and heavy, ephemerality and eternality. Emphasizing in the many realms of Downtempo music, Eric McKee playfully invites his listener to move, physically and emotionally, through a sonic landscape rich with dreamy harmonies, organic textures, salacious bass lines and hypnotic rhythms.
In this process, it is his only hope that maybe for a few moments in time; we can bask in the eternal glow of our experience as we melt into delicious togetherness. Early in his career, Eric had the opportunity to work closely with a yoga instructor where he studied the fundamentals of this practice and witnessed the intimate relationship between sound and movement and how both profoundly evoke emotion. This experience has set the foundation for his original production and mixes.
Harnessing this concept, this project attempts to offer a mind-expanding and heart-enriching experience. In his magnum opus mix series, The Sunrise Diaries, Eric tells a personal story of emergence from darkness into the light, physically and metaphorically. In recent years, this project has found a home in this point of culmination where the night and day embrace.
As a performer, he has opened up for Bumble, Tempi, Asteroids & Earthquakes and Disolv as well as played sunrise sets after Prophet, Leet, An-ten-nae and Noetik the Alchemist. Prior to COVID, Eric co founded The SandKastle where he curated, operated and managed community building, charity events alongside the notorious bass heavyweight Lost & Found. Other Affiliations and collaborations include Shivoo, Citrus Grove Collective’s Wub Wednesday, Eternal Elements, Totality Festival and many others. Currently, Eric works as a festival curator and operations director at Substorm Production and is eager to share his
