al day. I personalize every event based on the music you and your guests would like to hear. You have probably been to a wedding reception or class reunion where the DJ seemed to have little concept of what your guests want to hear. Reading a crowd is a science and doing it properly takes years of experience. I performed my first wedding reception in 1987 and since then, have successfully provided music, entertainment and MC duties for hundreds of events. All types of music are available; from pop, oldies, rock, country, classic rock even jazz, blues and classical (I like to be prepared). Unlike many DJs, I encourage requests from your guests. They will feel welcome when they come up to me and ask for a song. As long as it isn’t too obscure (or something that would clear the dance floor), I will be more than happy to play it for them. I also like to find out what your “must hear” songs are. Songs that are important to you and your fiancé as well as your family and friends. At the same time, I welcome your “do not play” list! Everyone has a few songs that definitely do not want to hear on their big day and I will ask about yours. In addition to an large selection of music, I also have the personality to ensure that your guests are comfortable and having fun. With three decades of broadcasting experience, I am probably best known as one half of The Mike and Mike Show on Kiss 94.5. Your event will be fun and interesting without being overbearing or loud. A good wedding DJ should never be “cartoon-ish” or goofy. I like to strike a balance between classy and fun. Each reception is personalized and uniquely yours. If you are stuck for song ideas for the Father/Daughter Dance, the Cake Cutting or any other element of your reception, I’m happy to offer suggestions based upon more than 20 years of successful live events. The sound system I use is a top notch system featuring clear, carefully equalized, undistorted sound that projects well. I am also careful with the volume. For example, if your guests are getting ready to enjoy some delicious food from the buffet at your wedding reception, they won’t be subjected to inappropriately loud music with a cranking guitar solo. Sound quality is very important to me and I take pride in how good the music sounds during my live events. One of the biggest problems with many mobile DJs is a harsh-sounding system. Often, they EQ the bass and treble to unnatural proportions. After a while, this barrage of brain-thumping lows and ear-piercing highs is fatiguing to listeners and can cause guests to leave early. I offer a more natural, balanced sound and frequently receive comments such as “I can’t believe how good this music sounds” or “I’ve never heard that song sound so good.” I offer lighter favorites during dinner and quiet periods (acoustic music, folk, jazz and more – tailored to your taste). With everything from Abba to Zappa, you will have a lot of music to choose from at your reception. Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble or Jimmy Buffet during dinner? I’ll save the more rocking material for later when your party is cooking or mix it in at your request. When you book me to provide the music for your function, you and your guests will be pleased with the results. After booking, I like to meet in person (several months before your event if possible) so I may interview you and your fiancé about your big day. Together, we will go over every detail of your reception. Following that, I put together an itinerary of events and send it to you for approval or changes. Once your day arrives, you only have to concern yourself with enjoying the moment. I’ll take care of everything else.
