California Cosplay Gala is making its way to YumeConUSA!

Join us at Holiday Inn San Jose for our dance event, the Yume Soirée, on Saturday, October 26th. We’ll be hosting a dance lesson as well as a social so make sure to stop by!

Formal Cosplay Spotlight #2!

Inspiration/Process:
“Jade Leech is one of my favorite characters from Twisted Wonderland. Initially I bought a Jade Leech Cosplay online but when I tried it on, it didn’t fit. So I decided to put together my own cosplay by using clothes from home and from online! I also kept the accessories from the cosplay that didn’t fit and added them to my outfit. Unfortunately the vest didn’t have gold lining on the inner part, so I had to buy some gold pleather from Joann and sew it on. It took a while for me to do so, but it was definitely worth it! I had fun working on it and I felt so confident once I put it on.”

Why I Love Cosplay/Conventions:
“I love cosplaying because I get to express myself in so many ways! Cosplaying makes me feel like I’m part of the show or game that I really like and also allows me to show which characters I can connect with or relate to. As for conventions, I enjoy attending these because of the amazing environment. Being surrounded by and chatting with more cosplayers, checking out the merch and artist halls, playing games at the arcade, and dancing at events are all things that I love so much and always look forward to!”

Formal Cosplay Spotlight #1!

Inspiration/Process:
“My Sableye cosplay has went through multiple incarnations over the years!
This version of Sableye was made on accident! Originally I had a more proper looking Formal outfit. But I lost my face mask right before the formal dance. I still had the mask for my Punk Sableye costume, but I was worried that it would look too beastly compared to the rest of the outfit.
So I decided to combine aspects of the Punk outfit into my new Formal outfit. I went for a ‘Refined Party Animal’ look. Something that was crazy, but still fit in with the theme of the party.
I’m very satisfied with how it came out! I feel fly as hell walking down the street with my coattails fluttering in the the wind.”

Why I love cosplay/conventions:
“Cosplaying is an amazing form of expression. You’re literally wearing your passions and interests on your body. It’s so easy to strike up conversations between other cosplayers.
You’ll likely run into those familiar faces at your next convention! It’s always a pleasant surprise to run into them again! I’ve made many friends this way and we’ve transitioned to hanging out outside of conventions.
And yes… I have made several friends because of the dances hosted by !”
