Blue Wreath Event Planning

A space for memorials, unions, weddings, catering, musicians, slideshows, nature inspired ritual, reasonable sliding scale prices, at a great stone house in the forest in Sandia Park, NM. Will travel out of state for event curation/planning. Let’s collaborate on a radical event!

Hello, I am an installation artist, community event organizer, and sculptor based in the east mountains of Albuquerque. I have a longtime history of creating, curating and planning meaningful events. See my artwork here: Http://billyjoemiller.com

Experience, Rental Space and Offerings: planning memorials, working in hospice, officiating and photographing weddings and ceremonies, working extensively in Albuquerque's diverse International District on community engaged neighbor revitalization projects, working on my own multi-media art practice that includes themes and ritual related to time, place and nature. I also have a long history of collaborating, curating and creating original content with musicians and performers.

Blue Wreath is an offering. It is an intentional creation and cultivation of the sort of space in which we crave to be held during the transformative moments of our lives. Blue Wreath Events enable me to weave my background as a hospice worker, ceremony officiant, photographer, community organizer, orchestrator of ritual healing spaces, and my practice as a multimedia artist working intimately with the vibrant local communities within Albuquerque as well as in collaboration with the world of artists and musicians in the world beyond. I see Blue Wreath as an extension of my work as an installation artist.

In 2017 I moved to the east mountains of Albuquerque with my partner and a friend. We bought a phenomenal property in the forest: a large stone house surrounded by ancient Alligator Juniper trees, situated with an open view of the Ortiz Mountains and South Mountain to the east. It was built for an opera singer around 1920, the loft she used to sing from remains. The Rock House (named by UNM students who used to sneak in and party in the 40s and 50s) is an ideal spot for events. There are 3 bathrooms, five bedrooms and a large dining room with an open kitchen. The center of the house has a vast room with 19' high ceilings and two massive arched windows that allow you to see through the house to the mountains beyond. The big room shares the view of the mountains with a 1000 sq. ft. deck just outside it.

I'm happy to plan all kinds of events but I'm the most motivated to create memorials. When I worked in hospice I could see a real interest in people finding more creative alternatives to mainstream funeral homes and services. Also I would love to collaborate with people in end-of-life care on having a creative voice in their memorial. For instance, they could pick activities, readings, decoration, symbols and songs, which, would be a surprise to the memorial guests.

We have already hosted many successful events including 3 concerts, a singing workshop, a cooking workshop, a benefit and a memorial. The house is big enough to comfortably hold up to 70 or more people.

Contact me with any questions and I would appreciate it if you share this page and flyer with your friends. Whether in Albuquerque or out of state I hope you'll keep me in mind for your next event!

Thank you,

Billy Joe Miller
