These years with two spriteful imps under my wing while running a business are precious, demanding, and sacred. I am learning that in order to build and expand our farm, and give myself space to hone my floral design craft, I need to flex my “no” muscle a bit harder. This rodeo is just Noel and I, and with a big perennial project underway this spring and a full wedding season ahead of us, we have decided to pause our Dahlia Tuber Sale and CSA this year..

Which leads me in a very roundabout way to tell you that our ENTIRE tulip crop (usually used for Spring CSA) will be designated for Mother’s Day. Thousands of beautiful, specialty type tulips in the most stunning shapes and colors. Here’s where you can find our flowers on Mother’s day!

🌷Brunch + Flower Bar at The Waterford Inne
Join us in the barn for a tulip extravanganza! Choose from our entire assortment of tulips to create your own bouquet. Also come for brunch from The Waterford Inne and shop curated vintage and designer threads from Strangebird Studios.

🌷 Brunch at the Bear Mountain Inn
Brunch guests can pre-order a tulip bouquet when booking through The Bear Mountain Inn.

🌷Pre-order Tulip Bouquets for Pickup at our Farm
Pickup options for Friday and Saturday.

More details to come!

Seven years ago we started this farm. The summer before our wedding, Noel and I decided to grow the food for our 125 person reception dinner.  We had grown and preserved food in our own homesteading capacity for a few years, and with the land to support our endless pursuit to “do it ourselves,” decided to add flowers to the list of things to grow. I had never grown a flower before - the practical side of me was much more interested in vegetable production, but we tilled a nice flower plot, hunkered down over spreadsheets, and tried our hardest to make sure every seed was started on the right date and grown in the right conditions to bloom for our wedding. By some miracle, every flower variety we started from seed was ready to be harvested 3 days before our wedding day.

I laugh now, with a few years of experience under my belt, that it happened so smoothly — no crop failures, perfect weather, limited bug pressure, and hardly any disease. Starry eyed, high on our success, and admittedly naive to the realities of farming, we started Stalk & Pistil Flower Farm the following year with the intention of specializing in weddings and events, where our love for flowers was originally born.
