A final 2021 highlight, in a year of hot mess...this photo! I mean come on!! 😍

I will be sharing more from this series in 2022..along with some BIG changes in the pipeline! (Hint: you can join my email list - link in profile - for inside scoops. And I don't mean ice cream.)

But for now, I'm going to leave 2021 with this adorable pup and a boatload of gratitude for the fellow wedding vendors, flower growers, artists, and creatives who have said yes to MANY of my crazy ideas this year.

We made a dress out of hellebores.
We put flowers on this dog.
We built a hedge made of flowers.
We gave wearable flowers to everyone at a wedding.
We built massive arches and design assets and new things together.
We got featured in magazines, blogs, and Yahoo Finance (lol).
We taught each other stuff.
We survived another year!

I am so proud to be a part of such a wonderful community of creative humans. Next year I am going to be saying YES to a lot more of this stuff. Making art. Serving incredible clients. Building community. And making this the most fun, creative, wild year yet. I can't wait!!

Join me??? DM, email, join the email list in profile, whatever you need to do to connect - we are gonna make some MAGIC happen in 2022! And I want to see you there!

Another highlight from this year was collaborating with so many other incredible wedding vendors!

Janet asked me to help her surprise one of her couples with a bouquet for this engagement shoot. I love her work, so of course I said yes!

We used all of the delicate white and blush blooms - from ranunculus to tuberose (an underrated, sweet-smelling fave) to dramatically cascading stems of orchids. Finished with a hand-dyed silk fluttering in the breeze...ah, it was such a romantic scene.

I love this photo because it is so quintessentially Seattle! If you're a local, you totally know where this was taken. It's a favorite walk of my husband and me. So having photos with my florals there - from a photographer as talented at Janet? - yes please!! Big congrats to S&H on their engagement and big thanks to Janet for this very fun collaboration! 😍

Sometimes we do the destination weddings...and sometimes, we ARE the destination!

C&H traveled from California for a moody, rainy elopement in the Olympic National Forest. After exploring the woods, they also were able to capture some stunning sunset shots on the top of a ridge.

We absolutely LOVED seeing how these two explored the woods, mountain backdrops, and cozy cabin for their elopement. And we loved giving them florals that encapsulated the moody vibe they were hoping for!

Black foliage and palm spears, dramatic smoke bush, and lots of fluffy blooms allowed us to deliver stunning florals with just a touch of dark, moody edge. Perfection! 😍

Another HUGE highlight from this year - R&S's July wedding that was full of hot vax summer vibes! (Funny enough, R and I met when I joined her band, and that's how I wound up doing her wedding years later, lol. Musicians are the best!!)

This Bainbridge Island wedding was postponed, moved, and scaled down. But it was straight-up MAGIC to see their friends and family embrace, hang out, catch up, and celebrate together in those few golden weeks when we were all feeling confident about our vaccines.

This crew was so full of love for each other and joy at finally being back together! It was truly incredible to witness, and I know y'all know that the power of gathering really can't be overstated. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it!

Oh, and did I mention? We also got to use the best seasonal summer flowers from our farm pals, in a palette that was totally swoon-worthy. R's mama has impeccable taste and understands design, so it was just a flawless collaboration. Honestly, this wedding just made my heart happy in so many ways. Congrats R&S!!

This week, we wanted to take a look back at a few of our favorite wedding shots from this year.

K&M got married in April, when we were all pretty hunkered down. Remember how we couldn't really get vaccinated until May? That was THIS year - can you believe it!?

K asked us to create a bouquet that would be colorful and reminiscent of her childhood in Hawaii, but also that would dry beautifully. We used a wide assortment of tropical, dried, and fresh flowers (all ) to create this spectacular look.

Combined with her chic flower crown and romantic ruched gown, this whole look was SO dazzling! We received so many exquisite images of ethereal, celestial beauty. It was a wonderful start to the wedding season!

This one is a highlight because we love incorporating personalized touches into our designs. The tropical flowers and foliage were from Hawaii, which was such a lovely tribute to her roots and family. And I know we are all exhausted by this pandemic, but I love that this image will always evoke a particular time and place. And that love triumphed 💕

I'm freezing over here, and looking at the forecast like...whaaaa? 💀 But over here in wedding land, we are actually fast forwarding to planning our summer weddings already! I've had several calls this week for couples with July and August event dates...imagine getting married in the warm sunshine, with luscious summer blooms, and daylight until 10pm! 😍

That is exactly what we did for R&S this past July, including a stunning tent setup with lots of lush greenery, and low centerpieces full of local blooms. It was such a highlight of our year in weddings!

We will be taking some time off over the next week, but we'll still be responding to folks who are just now realizing it's time to book your wedding florist 😅 If you feel called out, head to folkartflowers.com/inquire.

Maybe it's because I'm an elder millennial...but there is something so exciting about being featured in a magazine!!

We created this dress earlier this year for to celebrate the hellebore. I was lucky enough to work with an INCREDIBLE team of women to make this look come alive.

Now, it's serving as inspiration for growers around the country to create more art, more interest in flowers, and potentially more collaborations with florists!

This look was originally inspired by some gowns, and now it's inspiring others. Art is a big circle and I LOVE IT!

Thank you to

This bouquet has it ALL. 😍

Upscale tropical flowers like protea and orchids? Check!

Fluffy, romantic blooms like roses and ranunculus? Yep!

Dried beauties like hydrangea and grasses? Oh yeah.

And don't forget the winter evergreens! On paper, it may not sound like the best mix, but I knew it would be so stunning to put these unconventional ingredients together.

I'll be honest - you can get pretty flowers anywhere. But you deserve more than just pretty.

When you work with us, your florals are going to have personality...passion...and REAL meaning behind them.

No two of our weddings are alike, because no two of our couples are alike. Do you really want the same exact thing that we did for someone else??

I don't want that for you. I think you deserve better.

We specialize in crafting breathtaking, memorable experiences for you and your guests. I'd love to help you stop thinking about what's pretty, and start thinking about what's POSSIBLE.

When you are ready to move past pretty, let's chat. You can inquire at the link in our profile, or folkartflowers.com/inquire.

This week, we're loving looking back at last year's weddings, and all the wild times that came with trying to make magic happen in 2021!

We are so lucky to have worked with incredible couples, families, vendors and "friendors" to create exquisite events like this one. Meeting new people, traveling to new destinations, and exploring new creative ideas is so fulfilling.

What are y'all thinking back on as we wrap up this long and bizarre year? Tell me in the comments!

Low light, high altitude 😍

I love looking back at these incredible shots from last year's adventure at Mount Baker! There is nothing we love more than surprising and delighting our couples, so we used 100% American-grown flowers - including many tropicals - in the dead of winter.

A snowy wedding is not everyone's cup of tea, but winter weddings can be so magical! It's amazing to live in a place where there is NO bad time to get married.

What do you think - are you a snow lover, or waiting on another season to get married? What's your favorite season for flowers? I'd love to hear in the comments!

Anyone else getting excited for the holidays and some cozy R&R with friends and fam?

There is still lots to do before we take some time off, but we can't wait to celebrate all the things we've accomplished! Sometimes it's nice to look back at all the fabulous weddings we designed, happy couples we helped, and challenges we overcame. 🥳

How are y'all planning to celebrate this year? I'd love to know!

Dark and light. Airy and dense. Delicate and bold. Big and small. Feminine and masculine.

These are just a few of the contrasting design elements that my art brain latches on to when I am designing for my clients. There are SO many things going on in every little thing we create!

This bouquet was particularly fun because of all the contrasts involved. I really loved mixing it up with some edgy darkness while still keeping things delicate and feminine. What do you think? I'd love to hear in the comments! 👇

Hey, remember that awful "heat dome" we had in June that buckled I5? When it was like 107 degrees in Seattle? Can you believe that was THIS year?? 😅

That same weekend was when C&H came to Seattle for their destination wedding, looking for all those deep, dark forest vibes. We used black agonis foliage, dark purple smoke bush, and neutral blooms to craft moody, edgy florals that took the aesthetic over the edge.

Of course - instead of June rain, we got sun and 107 degrees! If this past two years have taught us anything, it's that we are NOT in control of everything. But still captured those shadowy forest vibes on the Olympic Peninsula!

Often, we are too busy during wedding season to really dig in to our galleries that our photographer pals send us. But now, as things wind down for the year, we're taking a look back at some of the incredible events we've flowered in 2021.

Thank you to all of our fabulous clients and collaborators for making 2021 a truly amazing year full of love, laughter, and memories. We can't wait to see what 2022 brings! If you are getting married next year and need help figuring out your aesthetic, let's chat! You can inquire at the link in our profile, or folkartflowers.com/inquire.

Let me tell you about one of my brides. She started her search by googling, and quickly realized that there were a zillion florists out there, and twice as many ads.

She was super overwhelmed, so quit that tactic, and instead focused on her Pinterest board. Pinterest is easy, right? So she started pinning like a kid in a candy store. She had everything from meadow wildflowers to modern-looking orchid arrangements, and everything inbetween. She was really struggling to make sense of her board, and what would look best in her venue.

When she came to me, she knew she wanted something meaningful - something that would have her wedding guests talking for YEARS.

Happy Small Biz Saturday!

Did you know? Almost EVERY single one of your wedding vendors is a small business. We are always wearing a lot of hats - like writing IG captions instead of, you know, arranging flowers. 😂

It's obviously been a weird couple of years, but there are bright spots. We get to work with the most gorgeous materials and the most wonderful people. Working with couples like .atri89 and is always a highlight for us!

We had so much fun creating this intimate, romantic fall wedding ! The space was perfect for the wedding that Cassie and Ali had imagined, and we loved flowering it. They are celebrating a year this week, and we're celebrating them over on our blog, where you can see more gorgeous photos. (Link in profile, or folkartflowers.com/blog).

Thanks to all of our wonderful clients for supporting our small business and letting us do the work we love to do!

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm still single-minded this week in celebrating a year since this amazing fall wedding!

We encountered a few challenges during this wedding. Most importantly, we had planned for a full reception with centerpieces on round tables. But the week before the wedding, all of the COVID rules changed! Couples were no longer allowed to have any receptions, so we scrapped that plan altogether.

However, I love that .atri89 took the opportunity to be photographed with some of the local residents of the gardens at after the ceremony. Talk about a one-of-a-kind wedding photo! Hands down, this is one of my favorite wedding photos of all time!! Thank you .co for such a great capture!

You can see more of the gorgeous photos over on our blog - link in profile, or folkartflowers.com/blog. It makes for some easy post-turkey reading 😜

Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy some time off!

A year ago, we flowered this incredible fall wedding !

Cassie & Ali wanted their wedding to be romantic, soft, and intimate. Cassie told me she loves neutral tones with some fall and seasonal influence, which was music to my ears. She also told me that she loved intimate weddings that were not overdone – no glitter, no neon, and no kitsch! In her words, it was all about “quality over quantity,” which is a key focus for us as well. Clearly, we were a great fit from our very first meeting!

We were inspired to look at the best of what is locally available in November, which includes stunning heirloom mums. Our color palette was a mix of fall colors inspired by these mums, like taupes, burnt oranges, and burgundies, paired with classic neutrals. We kept their whole design very understated and elegant to accentuate the warm wood details and muted, wintry garden backdrop of the Willows Lodge gazebo.

We were so honored to bring seasonal beauty to Cassie and Ali for their gorgeous Willows Lodge wedding day! You can check out our blog (link in profile, or folkartflowers.com/blog) for more gorgeous photos from .co!

I can't believe it's been a full YEAR since this incredible wedding at !

If you have followed along with us for a while, you know we absolutely LOVE to design with seasonal flowers that embrace a particular time and place. So when I first spoke with Cassie about her plans for her Willows Lodge wedding, I knew it was going to be such a gorgeous wedding day!

You can see all of our design inspiration, read more about our COVID challenges, and see probably my favorite wedding photo of all time over on the blog now - link in profile, or folkartflowers.com/blog. I'll also keep sharing these stunning images this week!

Congrats on one year, & .atri89!

19/11/2021

We've been getting little breaks of sunshine this week, so I've been looking at all the beautiful heirloom mums I have blooming in my garden! I think I'll cut them for Thanksgiving next week.

I loved using heirloom mums, the last dahlias, dried fern, local roses, and fall foliage for this gorgeous corsage. This is the beauty of seasonal flowers, in my opinion - it tells the story of time and place, without using words. It's part of why no two weddings are alike.

Every week of wedding season, there is something new to use and incorporate. I literally can't imagine using the same flowers for every wedding, year after year. It would be so boring!! And why would you settle for a design that looks exactly like someone else's wedding?!

Our books are open for 2022 if you are looking for something unique, memorable, and breathtaking - that is exclusively yours. You can inquire at folkartflowers.com/inquire.
