Yesterday on our trip to PA, we had a chance to meet up with my friend Bill Leonard of His bread is amazing. The pizza we had was great as well and even little chef approved. Cooking has taken a back burner lately and I’ve lost a lot of interest with nightmares and pain. Tonight I sat dow with an lead and tied this thing tonight. I’m going to get back to fishing again. It’s been a dream to combine the outdoors with Warrior Chef and I may get to do that soon! I am in the Texas Hill Country Chapter and if you want some freedom and are a Veteran come tie with us!

Sesame Beef Soba Noodles

Sometimes it’s slim pickings because we didn’t buy a lot this week and are trying to use up the pantry. So here’s a pantry project.

2 Tbs sesame oil
1/3 lb top sirloin, sliced thin
1 red bell pepper, large dice
1 med white onion, large dice
4 cloves garlic
1 Tbs White Pepper
3 Tbs smoked sesame seeds
1 package Soba noodles
1/4 C Water
1/3 cup Japanese BBQ Sauce
3 TBS hoisin sauce

Heat skillet on med high until it gets hot. Pour in oil then add beef sear for about two minutes

Add Bell pepper and onion. Cook for additional 2 mins then add garlic and sesame seeds.

Deglaze pan with water and throw in soba noodles. The water will cook the noodles for about three minutes then it will evaporate mostly.

Add Japanese BBQ sauce and hoisin sauce.

Don’t leave stuff in your truck! I went to and bought quite a few flies to go fishing with. They are in little plastic containers. I left and went to Lowe’s for a few project items and left my windows vented. I pulled these out of the bag this morning.

Everything IS bigger in Texas haha. When I asked for a larger beer I was thinking a 16 oz or 20 oz. Not at Here you get a 6 pack! Haha. I kid. I didn’t finish it though.

These tomatoes are so good! I’ve hardly used any pest spray in the garden aside a little sevin dust early in the season and some been oil for a few pest problems. Now if I could keep the birds away.

Sometimes you score. Regular vacuum packed spare ribs are $4.59 at my grocer. Alas on the other aisle of the meat case lay these baby’s at $2.59 for the exact same thing only a smaller portion. So I got two and saved $2 per pound and this Time to cook!

Made some from Although I didn’t have any cilantro it was still pretty darn good. I subbed his APG rub for chop Haus blend that I had on hand. I also added 4 serranos from the garden along with the tomatoes we picked. No canned goods in these beans.

What started as a beautiful project is ruined. First the router got away from me cutting the juice groove, then I was trying to salvage what was left for a new project and all the voids started splitting apart. Now to the fire pit we go. 😡 what a waste!

Tried to get back in the kitchen today. Been a little off lately. This was supposed to be an Italian baguette but it turned out a little bigger than anticipated. I love the outside crispiness though!

These were supposed to be watermelon radishes but turned out to be a black variety. I was curious why the bugs never found it, but after tasting this, quickly found out why. The phytochemicals are strong in this. It’s one of the spiciest radishes I’ve consumed!
