Ceremony Yoga Breathe deeply and get centered before the big day. In Sanskrit, Yoga means to add, to join, or to unite.

This 5,000 year old practice teaches us to link the breath with movement in an effort to unite with our true selves and ultimately with the divine. The unity you have created with your partner and which you will celebrate on your wedding day is one of the greatest joys of life. Yet the process of planning a modern-day wedding can be stressful and sometimes disguises the true purpose of marriage. C

eremony Yoga is for people preparing for their wedding day. Classes are specially designed to help you breathe deeply and reconnect to your inner self, giving you the strength and serenity you need during the wedding planning process, or on the big day. Led by Bekah Holbrook, RYT200, who teaches vinyasa, hatha and deep release classes with a strong focus on alignment, Ceremony Yoga is a safe space for people of all levels and all ages to experience the life-giving practice of yoga.

Great interview with one of the most well-respected and sought after yoga teachers, Maty Ezraty.

"Yoga is meant to be a healing art. It is a long tradition that incorporates a lot more than just asanas. My wish is that we can stop the image of “yoga” as an industry or just another fitness modality. I hope we stop mixing it and that we return to what it is meant to be—a healing art for the body and mind that ultimately is supposed to be leading us to greater happiness and acceptance."

In honor of YJ’s 40th anniversary, Kathryn Budig chats with her teacher, longtime Yoga Journal contributor Maty Ezraty, about yoga's evolution.

An illustration of contemplative practices showing the breadth of meditation and mindfulness within traditions. It certainly opens up one's understanding about how these disciplines take root and manifest themselves in our lives, non?

Rob Welk had a hard time pulling on his socks before he discovered yoga. “I didn’t look anything like this,” he said with a laugh. “My belly was out to here,” he added, motioning several inches in front of his now-flat midsection.

It may still be wintery outside, but we are headed toward spring! This means new life, flowers, bunnies, weddings! Yes, weddings. If you are planning one, you may find with spring comes STRESS.

What if you could replace that STRESS with SELF-CARE?

If you are a bride-to-be, take some time today to think about how you will care for yourself before and during the wedding. How will you stay soft, calm, and present?

Yoga is my (not-so-secret) tool for staying sane and finding joy in my busy life. That's why I started Ceremony Yoga, so other women can learn how to use yoga to experience more joy, and less stress, especially during important moments in their lives.

Check out the attached flyer on Ceremony Yoga classes this spring. If you're not a bride-to-be but know someone who is, share this post with her (along with a sweet note from you) and bring some warmth into her world on this snowy day!

Love & Light!
