Choosing sustainable suppliers doesn’t just stop with our food 🍾

A little over a year ago, we at Social Pantry refreshed our drinks offering. Sustainability goes far beyond packaging, so as well as prioritising glass and aluminium options, we made the choice to switch to companies that prioritise people as well as planet.

This meant waving goodbye to the world’s biggest plastic polluters; Coca-Cola and Nestlé - amongst others.

Our actions are guided by the change we want to see in the world. This is why we choose to invest in circular economies, develop sustainable business practices and are committed to long term initiatives that will positively impact future generations…

We love that by stocking alternative, UK-based brands, we’re supporting smaller businesses whose ethics align with our own!

Social Pantry kitchens are zero to landfill, and every one of our suppliers are chosen because of their ethics and stance on sustainability.

B Corps, regenerative farmers, social enterprises… we’ve got them all! Alongside our actions to minimise waste and advocate for sustainability, it’s imperative that our suppliers do too.

Social Pantry founder Alex Head started the business back in 2011, with a passion for gathering people together to have memorable experiences around good food.

As the figurehead of our leading, independent, sustainable catering company all these years later, that philosophy still remains the same.

Proudly leading a team of over 60% women in the leadership team, Alex is the inspiration behind the day-to-day at Social Pantry, championing innovation, sustainability and staying ahead of the trends.

Alongside all of this, she is the driving force behind our work to support prison leavers upon release, sitting on the employment board at Wandsworth Prison and regularly speaking about our prison leaver mentorship to the press and on panels, all with the aim of encouraging other businesses to do the same.

We’re proud to be an industry leader in the employment of prison leavers, working directly with prisons and charity partners to support newly released people into employment at our headquarters 🧑‍🍳

We’ve always tried to challenge the industry norms, from a no-shouty kitchen policy, to our women-lead leadership team and our prison leaver mentoring, they’re all important aspects of the Social Pantry DNA.

So whilst we deliver an excellent service, our clients can rest assured that what goes on behind the scenes at Social Pantry is socially responsible.

From 1st March 2024, Social Pantry will deliver its high impact yet socially and environmentally conscious events at London’s defining landmark, creating an unparalleled event and dining experience in London.

Founded by Alex Head in 2011, Social Pantry has evolved to become so much more than simply a catering company. From its commitment to employ more prison leavers year on year, to utilising zero-waste initiatives, and creating menus that focus around nose-to-tail and root-to-flower dishes, Social Pantry strives to deliver exceptional quality service and events at minimal social and environmental cost.

With three distinct areas available for private hire - the Walkways offer incredible panoramic views of the city, the majestic Victorian Engine Rooms houses the original machinery once used to lift the bridge, and The North Tower Lounge showcases stunning neo-gothic architecture - Social Pantry will work in tandem with the venue and clients to produce bespoke events and menus from canapés and cocktails, to innovative food and drink stations and lavish five-course dinners.
