Hey honey pie friends!

We miss you all just as much as you miss us. I wanted to share an update:
Atlas is already 3 years old!!! He's started preschool a couple days a week now, and while I search for whatever comes next for me after being a stay at home mom for three years now, (I'm starting to dip my toes into web and content design-- stay tuned!) Matt has already begun his own construction business here in CU and I couldn't be more proud of him. Feel free to hop over to his new page and give him a "like" and a follow:

Other updates:
We recently adopted a new dog, Dougie the Pug. We love him very much! We are now a two dog, four cat household!!! We still have our broken pie truck and our fancy pie press, I can't bring myself to sell anything quite yet. Who knows what the future holds for us.

We'd love to hear how you are doing. We often think of our regulars and wonder how you can survive without your weekly pie deliveries. Are you okay??! 😩😅

Just wanted to share an update with you all, as the weather turns cooler and you start missing your favorite pie people... 🍂🧡

So, it turns out I really enjoy being home with our son. It has been an amazing opportunity, only available to me because my sweet husband Matt went to work on his friend's construction crew. (Give Ellermets Construction a like & a follow if you want some Matt in your life! They do FANTASTIC work!)

It's hard to run your own small business. That's an understatement--- It's really freaking hard. The additional fees involved made it even more difficult; rental kitchen, permits, licensing, insurance... The list goes on. We couldn't keep it up and make any profit simultaneously, especially after ingredient prices went up. We had plans to open our own brick and mortar, but the cost was monumental and our priorities shifted.

We absolutely loved running Oh, Honey Pie, and I don't think this is the end. We are keeping the pie truck and I'm starting to look into maybe getting a cottage license, or getting back into it once Atlas heads to school.

In the meantime, please continue to support our local businesses here in Champaign-Urbana.

We love you all so much! 💙

P.S. The secret ingredient to a perfect pie crust is a splash of buttermilk. Shhh... Don't tell anyone. But now you have to make it yourself.

Oh, Honey Pie, all packed up in our basement. 😢

We're officially "on a break" to stay home with baby, and focus on planning for the next iteration of OHP. This wasn't an easy decision for us to make, but with the cost of ingredients soaring right now, it made the most sense.

We're not going anywhere... Think of it as a hibernation! When we emerge, we'll be even better. 🦋

We promise to keep you posted. 💙

I'm going to be real with ya'll for a minute and say that the cost to rent our kitchen space this month is currently more than the profit we will make from these pies. This is why it's so important to support small local businesses! It's not as easy as just making pie. 😕

Thanks for making 2021 a great year for us. Without our loyal (and patient!) customers, we wouldn't be where we are today. 💙

We think 2022 will be even better! 😉..With a storefront (!!!) on the horizon, soon you can get your honey pie fix any day of the week. We are beyond excited to see what the future brings. 🚀🌛

Thanks for trudging through the growing pains with us over the next several months as we, quite literally, build our new collaborative storefront from the ground up.

That said-- we'll be taking a break from pies until Valentine's Day. This little sunshine of ours is growing up too fast; we need to slow down, relax, and soak it up.

We're taking off next week to wait for our equipment repair, and then the following week we will be preparing for a larger catered event. We appreciate your patience as we ease back into the swing of things with a broken pie press and a 2 month-old baby who apparently isn't very rational or predictable!? 🤔
