HONOURING THE MEMORY OF ANDREAS CATJAR-DANIELSSON

Today it’s exactly one year since we lost our great friend and colleague Andreas to cancer. We think of him every day and we’ve decided to release a limited edition vinyl 5-track EP, celebrating the music he made for Covenant.

The ANDREAS E.P. is a non-profit release, with all all digital and physical proceeds going directly to Andreas’ sons Andrej and Ivo including Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple music, iTunes, etc. Thanks to Dependent/SPKR for so generously carrying the production costs!

The ANDREAS E.P. contains the previously unreleased cover version of the Yazoo song “Winter Kills”. Here’s what Andreas himself thought about it:

“Winter Kills is my all time favourite Yazoo song. It´s just magic. How do you make something so minimalistic so bombastic? Like Eric Satie. And even though the piano (and of course Alison’s voice) is the dominant instrument it still sounds very synthetic. As if the cold winds of winter, the loss and the longing is hidden in the space between the notes. Or compressed in the wonder of the single drum hit.”

As many of you probably know, Andreas was a man with prodigious energy and a gazillion different projects. Two of those, Abu Nein and Souls, will also celebrate his memory on this sad day with special releases. Check them out here:

Ruby Lamb of The Jigglewatts Burlesque R***e, Texas’s longest continuously-running burlesque troupe, is part glitter-storm-cotton-candy-tumbleweeds and part succubus-warrior. She’s soft as scarves and wicked as wool, and her past is steeped in bubbles and performance art. As a Satan’s Cheerleader, she has done good in the name of evil since 2001. She is a frolicsome creature who danced with Red Light Burlesque, Austin’s original burlesque revival troupe; engaged audiences with Naked Girls Reading Austin for six years; wiggled and teased at the Austin Pride Festival for seven years; was a headliner for the 2017 Texas Queerlesque Festival in Dallas; and was a two-time nominee for Best Burlesque Performer in the Austin Chronicle Best of Austin Poll. Lamb joined Mistress of Musicality Productions for The Purple Party, a series of burlesque tributes to Prince. In addition to cavorting on the main stage, Ruby is a seasoned producer, instructor at the Austin Academy of Burlesque, actress, model, and the first subject for Dr. Sketchy's- Austin, an alternative visual art event. One of Austin’s persistent eccentrics, this naughty gamboling sheeplet is an instigator of hijinks, an ambassador of fun with an appreciation for the sexy and the absurd! She is beach goth through and through.
