So, a couple of months before Halloween, my website www.screamarama.com went down. It was gone to the point I had to rebuild from scratch. I made the decision to dump all the crap from China (Ali-express, etc..). This included masks, costumes, decorations, lights, inflatables, and a slew of other things. I use POD (print on demand) for everything now. I try to make sure all providers are American or American based. This has nothing to do with my overwhelming sense of patriotism, or my veteran based need to put American interests first and foremost. No, it’s for you, the customer.
The stuff from China takes forever to get here, when it does, it is not as pictured or promised, nor does it fit. Not to mention the Customs nightmare and exorbitant shipping fees. It is just not fair to you, me, or anyone. Did you ever try to get a hold of customer service over there? Even they use Indian call centers for that.
This will cost me business. It reduces my overall offering, increases my costs, taxes my twisted imagination coming up with new stuff to stay relevant. But, it’s worth it. I feel better about what I’m selling, and you can have peace of mind in what you are buying. So far, these guys have been great, responsive and enthusiastic.
