MY TYPE [SAINT MOTEL]

If you were to ask me about my favourite types of weddings, I’d tell you about Kurt and Polly’s.

Theirs was a day that radiated utter joy. Where authenticity and intentional moments stole the show.

Not everything went to plan, but it didn’t matter. We laughed - boy did we laugh! Friends and family; young and old filled the dancefloor - cocktails were guzzled and tales of a couple undeniably made for each other filled the stunning Goolawah Estate.

You see, the best weddings aren’t always the ones that do the most; they’re the ones that feel. The old friends catching up over fresh pizza, the new ones made in the bathroom lines and the euphoria that comes with having all your favourite people in the same room.

The best weddings - or at least my favourite - are ones just like this incredible day with Kurt and Polly.

…this crinkle eyed smile doesn’t lie!

OCEAN EYES [BILLIE EILISH]

“…As Holly’s heard her phone ding from her pocket – lifting it to find a new facebook message – she nearly fell from her chair.

Angus Buchanan. From school. Wild.

Beer and a quick eat – that night.

Feeling a little dusty from partying the night before, Holly thought to herself – yeah, why not? I could really go for some Thai.

Stumbling into the dimly lit Delaney on Darby, Holly felt her senses go into overdrive. The wafts of deep fryer, the slightly too loud music and feint buzz of conversation, the cool aircon in contrast to the outdoor Feb heat; and then, Gus. Handsome Gus.

Wow, he’s gotten much better looking since high school.

Conversation flowed as easily as the beers. Gus was funny and handsome and all the things that Holly had never before given him credit for.

They liked the same things, a passion for the ocean; and penchant for exploring and a desire to make the most of their new homes.

As a quick drink turned dinner – and the restaurant began to clear out around them, both Gus and Holly quickly realised that there was more to this than just a casual catch up. They got along – effortlessly – as if they were always meant to be friends. And that’s exactly what they became, catching up regularly – splashing in the ocean and paddling out through the waves.

For all the reasons that Holly had come to enjoy Gus’ company; for his kind and caring nature; for his openness to other people’s perspectives and his quirky sense of humor; she began to realise that the feelings were unlike anything she’d ever experienced before. The ‘better looking than high school’ quickly became ‘incredibly sexy’ and she found herself wishing away the minutes until she got to see him again.

Gus too, was taken by Holly. He admired her drive, her adventurous spirit and hey ability to put away a big brekky in record time. He realised that she was, in essence, pretty much ‘the same guy’ as himself - but better. And together they made one dreamy, freckly duo.”

The snippet: For Caitlin, it wasn’t long before she realised that not only was Dom incredibly handsome, but no matter what life threw her way – he gave her the confidence and gusto to tackle it head on.

He loved her on all her good days, and even more so on the hard ones. He loved her for her perfections, and he loved her for the bits she’d always kept away from the world. In fact, he loved her in ways that she’d never been loved before.

And together, they share a life filled with the little moments of love; the ‘just because flowers’ the ‘I was thinking of you icecreams’ and the ‘thought this would make you laugh’ memes; every single day…

EXACTLY HOW YOU ARE [BALL PARK MUSIC]

“…That first facebook messenger video call, over gin and tonics, was one of the easiest conversations that either Jazz or Bryce had ever shared. For hours on end, chatter flowed, drinks replenished and big, bright grins filled the screens.

As the first gins were sipped, Bryce shared his love for the air force; the pride of coming from a long line of members; Jazz, her dedication to the medical profession; her career drive and the wild ride of reaching it.

As they slurped through the second; their close connections with family members and the values that they hold important. By the third gin; it was giggly. The adventures, the funny stories – the love of adventure, of good food and of music. And that in fact, by complete coincidence, just weeks earlier, before the lockdowns rolled in – they’d been belting out Ball Park Music’s Nice to be Alive; simultaneously at the same music festival. Totally unaware.

By the time their glasses were empty and their phone batteries were low – the next online date was organised. And neither Jasmine nor Bryce could contain the excitement.

Following Hamish Blake’s step by step cooking class, together – but in the comfort of their respective homes; Jasmine found herself laughing her way through the stirring and frying.

As she meticulously measured out the ingredients, following the instructions to a tee; Bryce added his own touch of Bryce flare.

An extra splash of this; a sprinkle of that. And a damn fine looking pasta for his efforts. But, Jasmine thought to herself, his pasta wasn’t the only thing looking good.

Because, hidden from his online profile was one of his greatest assests. And no, I’m not talking about his butt – which Jazz is also very fond of. I’m talking about the smile. The one that lights up his bright eyes; that made Jazz’s heart skip with excitement. The smile that took things from online cooking classes to a real-life covid-safe walk.“
