Very special things under construction for The Imaginarium Wonder Emporium…
During my 42 years on this earth, I’ve spent at least 39 of them identifying as an artist.
36 of them as a continual student of the arts, 26 of them making a living from my artistic pursuits.
But the last 7 years since I founded The Imaginarium Wonder Emporium have by far been my best.
Making fanciful costume pieces, masks, hats and crowns, and all other manner of wearable art with a strong old world circus or otherworldly theme has fulfilled me in ways that much of my other pursuits fall short.
These delights come from my happy place.
The mask at the very end is one I made when I was 16.
I’m 42 now and it’s definitely a surreal full circle feeling—like I always knew who I was even if I had a hard time articulating it and other people didn’t understand it back in the 90’s.
I’m proud of myself for digging my heels in and being uncompromising in embracing my own eccentricity.
As an artist, it’s the greatest gift I’ve given myself and I will protect it at all costs.kday

Congratulations to actress Rylie Rodriguez for her latest television casting.
Rylie modeled my Cirque Couture collection clown ruff designs for The Imaginarium Wonder Emporium a couple years ago and is now working on an amazing acting career!
From the San Antonio Express News, Rylie “has been cast as the daughter of a wealthy couple played by Demi Moore and Jon Hamm in "Landman."
The much-anticipated Paramount+ series from "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan is slated to debut Nov. 17.
The show was inspired by the Texas Monthly podcast
"Boomtown," which is about the oil boom and its impact on the climate, the economy and politics.”

As a designer (really more of a wearable art maker) I’ve been refurbishing and reworking vintage clothing and wearable accessories for as long as I can remember.
I source vintage garments and cultural textiles from ethical and sustainable sources around the world as well as from yard sales, flea markets, second hand stores and antique shops.
I choose a lot of items that are in need of repair or that I can see more potential in and I mend, reconstruct and alter them according to my vision.
At times, this means sewing, beading, adding sequins and appliqué, even hand painting designs.
I like to also construct wearable accessories and things that won’t need to be washed utilizing paper and card stock bases which gives my work a more earth-conscious depth highlighting recycling and sustainability.
I’ve taken throw-away fabrics from other makers and small companies and refurbished and reused them to keep them from adding to landfills.
All of this is incredibly important to me as both an artist and a philanthropist.
Costume design has always been a passion for me.
In particular, my Cirque Couture collection is by far one of my favorite design accomplishments.
What began as a beautiful expression for my whimsical vintage circus themed company, The Imaginarium Wonder Emporium, became something that could translate into modern couture as well.
I was fortunate to have the guiding skill of Chicago native seamstress, to construct my first designs and explain to me how to hand sew the rest of my creations myself.
Her instruction was crucial in taking my dream from the sketch paper to reality.

Welcome to my home office / art studio space.
This is where I bring to life all of my big crazy ideas.
“The world needs artists.
You DO matter.
And you CAN make a difference with what you create.”
The whole office and studio was built entirely by hand as a build-in renovation to our 1958 midcentury townhouse by my super talented husband, Joe Gomez III.
In a way, I’m standing in HIS art to make my own art.
I’m grateful beyond measure to have a partner who has natural design skills.
Polishing, repairing and restoring a lot of trinkets and what-nots in my little workshop.
As I venture through themes, let’s take a look through my curation of artful textiles…
Vintage and intricate handmade clothing, accessories and textiles from all over the world are another common subject of focus within my art over the years.

Happiest of New Year’s to all! As I’m coming up on my 7th year since founding The Imaginarium Wonder Emporium, I can’t help but wax nostalgic over all of the beautiful souls I’ve met along the way —this one is for the animals! I plan to continue to include them in everything I do, in one way or other, and create more offerings for our furry, feathered and scaled friends. I hope in this new year that you find your way back home to yourself—to that place where your inner child feels safe enough to dream your great big wonderful dreams. May you come to know your worth and experience real magic now and always. To my fellow artists and visionaries, I see you, and you make more of a difference than you could possibly imagine.

That time @lucy_mannequin wore the vintage sequined dress I curated, as worn by actor Denis O’Hare @ohdenis in his portrayal of the character Liz Taylor in American Horror Story : Hotel alongside Lady Gaga and a stellar cast. This was one of the most iconic pieces I obtained via my thrifting adventures while The Imaginarium Wonder Emporium was running full force. A special thank you to my dear friend Stephanie Eiland for allowing Lucy to hang out in the shop window with us!
