What an absolutely beautiful double feature showcase weekend with !

This time last year, I was gearing up for Valentine’s Day at Whole Foods, hoping that 2024 would be my last season in the corporate space. I had business names and ideas swirling in my head, I knew there was more for my flower life than throwing months old roses into paper as quick as humanly possible for as little labor as my department could spare.

Thankfully, I was right, and this year I’m elated to be slinging arrangements made with love, care and artistry with Bowerbird 💐

This weekend was an amazing taste of what is to come, and a sweet reminder of the grass being green where you water it ⛲️

I’m going to suck up every positive feeling I can muster in 2025, and I encourage all of you to hold onto those moments of bright and celebrate them, no matter how small they may seem to anyone else.

Here’s to beautiful flowers, beautiful people, and not letting anyone take our light 🥺

Now more than ever, I must be profoundly clear with who I am, and where my core values lie.

This business is owned by a PROUDLY q***r human, a part of the LGBTQIA+ community in more ways than one - I am openly trans/non-binary(which, according to our new administration, doesn’t exist and should be eradicated), and I am attracted to all genders which makes me pansexual(marriage options they are looking to take from us). My first kiss was a girl, I’ve known I belonged to this community my entire life.

I also have a uterus, something that our government wants me to have 0 autonomy over, and I was adopted and raised by the Ellison’s - a beautiful, strong willed black family that took me and my brother in at 5 years old and never made us feel any differently because of our skin or background. They are the reason I am who I am today, hands down.

I only tell you all of this to say that there are so many deep impacts of this administration that affect me and my family directly and I refuse to entertain the back and forth with someone when it comes to Trump and the ultra-rich, extremist Right Wing people that are associated with him.

I know a lot of you come from a world where politics should be separate from business, however I would like to make it clear and concise that I will NEVER sacrifice my core values for a single penny.

If you don’t understand why this is a terrifying time, find yourself lucky.

Take this opportunity to cut ties with Flowers by Tree if you so see fit - this is a business rooted in love, understanding, compassion and inclusivity. If you back Trump, you’re backing his policies - policies that say I shouldn’t exist.

It is going to be a long 4 years, and this account isnt going to be politically focused, but nothing will make me stop being openly myself.

One of the most common comments we get as florists are regarding price - and sometimes that comes with questions of ‘why is this so expensive?? I could go get that from x y or z store and throw them together!’

And the truth is, you can’t. What you are getting from a a store will never compare to what you get from a florist, and this is coming from someone who spent 6 years in the grocery floral space. From sourcing and prep work, to hundreds of hours of arranging experience and education, going to the professionals when you can swing it is going to get you a better result every time.

Something as small as reflexing rose petals can be deeply impactful to an arrangement, and can also take a good chunk of time! If you have a dozen reflexed roses in your arrangement, those roses alone took at least 15 minutes before they hit the vase.

Trust me when I say that florists are bs nickel and diming you - I value price transparency significantly and there’s so much that goes into these arrangements behind the scenes 💞

I absolutely adore bridal portraits💞
As a chronic over-thinker, I love the idea of being able to test hair, makeup, poses, etc before the actual big day is here. You get the photos in your stunning gown without having to squeeze them in to a 15 minute window on your wedding day, with dozens of eyes looking at you, and we all know those dresses aren’t cheap and who wouldn’t want to wear it again?? With everything that goes into making a wedding enjoyable for those attending, make sure you do something for just you, too🥰

It’s so wild to me that this time last year, I was still slinging corporate flowers and just hoping that I could branch out and bloom in the floral world on my own (spoiler alert… 🥰)

I remember making this at work one day after being taught a new method by a flower friend, and just how much it added to the flame I had in me for floral artistry. Realizing I could create mood and depth in a way I hadn’t yet(even with just grocery flowers!), it was a really tangible moment in my journey that solidified the start of my path.

For the first time in a decade, the holidays are my ‘slow’ season. I’m not rushing around in the middle of the hustle and bustle of holiday food shopping, I’m not stressed to the brim absorbing the stress that people can put on retail workers, I’m not skating in last minute to family functions because I had to work on Thanksgiving day… I am finally getting time with my loved ones, and that means more to me than any schedule or dollar amount.

I’m beyond grateful for what this year has brought me.…

However, l I also recognize that it has not blessed everyone the same.

Let’s remember WNC during this holiday season and change of weather - that will be it’s own post but please keep your eyes out for a fundraising event I am planning (DM me if you’re interested in being a part of it!) more details to come, I just can’t negate to mention the people that need the love this season.

This was an event I’ve spent months looking forward to and I was still completely blown away by the passion, craftsmanship, leadership and kindness that all cohesively exist within this team, and the flowers showed it. The end result was nothing short of magical 🥹

Sunday Fundays were geared towards sprinkling in non floral related things, but this one has an additional focus - my amazing family!

My favorite thing about my career has been getting more time with my family. When I started branching out of the corporate world and into the local world, I didn’t realize how many opportunities I’d get to include family in my work - whether it be my brother Trent helping me watch over the farm for Anya at or my sweet mama coming out to the mountains for a dream weekend with , being able to integrate my family in my work in a deeper way has been such a joy for me. I don’t live 5 minutes away from them anymore, so I just relish every moment I get that much harder 🥹

When sweet sweet Julie from first asked me what my favorite flower was when we first met discussing sustainability at Art in Bloom, it took me a while to settle on lisianthus - because who can really pick a favorite flower??

But these soft, pillowy lizzies from show exactly why they’re so worth loving 🥰

I love giving clients(i prefer to call yall friends💕) flowers they haven’t had in a bouquet before, or maybe even ever seen! It opens up a whole new dialogue about our local flower community and I get to yap about how much I love yall farmers 💐 education is key! Its a win win!

Happy Sunday Funday, friends! 💕
The day that I take the opportunity to share some sides of me that aren’t floral related 💕 🎶

Other than an environment I’m slingin’ flowers in, this is my happy place. I was very fortunate to grow up in an home that encouraged the love of music - there was never a car ride with my mama that she wasn’t blasting everything from The Beatles to Black Sabbath to Prince(and even some Big & Rich in there believe it or not… Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy is my karaoke song 😂)

I’m inching in on 100 concerts(that I could remember) and I can’t pick a favorite. I’ve seen every genre, from moshing at Korn to moshing at Tech N9ne. Crying grateful tears as a coliseum of people sang ‘Hey Jude’ with Paul McCartney, and looked at the trees in the wind being serenaded by Robert Plant.

The list goes on, Ashnikko, Panic! At The Disco, Cake, Queens of the Stone Age, Queensryche, Metallica, Demi Lovato, Lana Del Rey, Zach Wylde, to this picture being taken at Noah Kahan.

I will schedule my entire day around a concert and I WILL be in the front of the pit. ((Huge shout out to my honey for being a ‘buy the tickets’ kinda guy just like me 🥹)
