“Pool Perks in ATX: An Overview of My Fave Hotel Swimming Pools in Austin” could be my next blog post if I ever get back in the blog-sharing saddle. We’re at the right now—complete with a heated pool overlooking the river—but I’m looking to spice up my dinner plans. Go-to options are typically North, Perla’s, Uchi, Eddie V’s, more recently The Peacock… Looking for something NEW that we can possibly get into TONIGHT without reservations. I have read and re-read my wedding design plan for tomorrow about 1000 times… And there are still no boutonnières. Could this be a new trend—TO BOUT OR NOT TO BOUT? That is the question. Please give your opinion in the comments. On one hand I love a little man flowers and enjoy making them, but on another, they’re fragile, we can never make them until just before a wedding, and it never fails that they typically get crushed with hugs and wilted with extreme heat regularly making me question my sanity. LOOK AT THAT RING. Definitely one of my favorites in the world right up there with the ones on my finger. Those are my husband’s hands. They save lives, tickle Henry, make me fresh French press coffee every morning with the perfect amount of cream and sugar, and hold onto my own when we’re riding in the car. They also lift bars, stages, vases, candles, and tons of flowers into my truck every week, and buried underneath that hotel robe, he’s got the muscles to prove it. I’ve spent the day organizing and getting ready for some gorgeous “I do’s” tomorrow, but today marks TWO YEARS since the first magazine launch. Cheers to two years and nine awesome issues 🥂🥂🥂 Making magazines probably isn’t for the faint of heart, but I’m definitely lucky to have such an amazing side gig and to work alongside some truly wonderful people in the community we live in.

For the first time in 35 years, I decorated for fall on the first day of fall. I didn’t know yesterday was the first day of fall; it may be only because we had a Halloween-themed photo shoot, and I needed to get things out of my car, so I piled 20+ pumpkins up my porch steps and added the wreath to the door, but I’m totally counting it 🎃🦇🍁🍂 Guess who’s not quite ready for this spell-binding season? And who needs a dragon hat when a toddler is basically breathing fire sans headpiece over wearing the costume in the first place? The cutest dragon costume ever that lasted literally three minutes: — shout out to my friend who painted the most perfect pumpkins and let us shoot in her art studio and for bring the most adorable candy-lovin’ little witch who did at least half smile the duration of our costume party.

Caught in a summer-fall love triangle over here wishing I was lounging poolside or on a beach but also dreaming of crisp fall mornings, changing foliage, college football, and cozy sweaters. Our first UK game this season is today, so we’re headed to Field — GO CATS! 😸💙🍁 What’s your favorite thing about fall?

Most of all I can’t wait for fall wedding season to kick off next week. We had some of the most gorgeous color palettes this summer, but this will be our first full fall season since 2018. I took off after the summer of 2019 when I was verrrry pregnant with Henry and then only had a handful of weddings sprinkled through 2020 considering the state of the world. Grateful for our life always, but especially this season.

I TURN 35 IN ONE WEEK 🍰🎉🥂 Giselle here. I skip out of social media more than I should for sure, but here goes Birthday Edition:
1. My birthday is at the end of the month, but the party going on over here kicked off August 1. We’re in the celebration business, and I celebrate my birthday the entire month of August.
2. BIRTHDAY VACAY > BIRTHDAY PARTY. My hubs Aleks, my dear friend and I typically take a birthday trip. This year the stars didn’t align for my actual birthday weekend, but soon. Speaking of parties though: My event planning company turns TEN (10) this year! Hoping the situation of the world improves and to throw a killer party for some local vendors/friends. The second week of October, my local magazine turns TWO (2), and I think we’re celebrating with a fundraiser. Stay tuned!
3. I don’t like gifts. Occasionally maybe something really thoughtful or that I have been wanting for a while or something that is useful, but usually I would prefer a fancy card + coffee / drinks / dinner to celebrate.
4. Along with holidays and the Kentucky Derby, we don’t accept weddings on my birthday weekend. Or the birthday weekends of my children or husband.
5. Paychecks are cool and all, but my J-O-B is different. Life is short. Passion for what I do flows from an innate need to be making something, to create something one-of-a-kind and magical. I’ve always been this way, but as each year passes and as I grow older, we become more selective about the weddings we accept. If I send out a proposal, it’s because I love what we’ve come up with for that day. We never do the same thing twice.
6. Fancy desserts are my jam, but for my birthday, I full expect my daughter to bake a specialty cake from scratch. Olive oil cake is my request this year. Whipped cream on top.
