Some interesting updates and figures published by England Boxing earlier today...

1. Security accounts for 26% of the annual Events spend!
2. 1% of the General Admin budget is spent on Communications, 6% on the Membership and 7% on Compliance.

Somewhat interestingly?
'All clubs will be required to have a Level 2 Coach listed as their Head Coach. For clarity, clubs will no longer be able to operate in their first year of affiliation without a Level 2 Coach who is qualified, registered and licensed on the Locker.'

The EB Rulebook states that a level 2 coach must be in attendance when sparring takes place, so does the above mean that some first year affiliated clubs have been breaking the rules?

With the increase in fees, ...could somebody throw some light on why a Level 2 Coaching Course is £44 more expensive than a level 1?

A special thank you to the following clubs who have recently made a donation to the Ringside Charitable Trust whilst paying for their annual matchmaking database fee.

We are looking to acknowledge and reward the clubs that have donated but are unable to promote in advance without falling foul of the Gambling Commission.

For those who have chosen not to donate, of which there are far too many. Don't let the door close after the horse has bolted! 😉

RIP

RIP

We are so very sad to hear of the passing of former Eastbourne Boxing Club boxer, Paul Orji.
Paul was an exceptional super heavyweight, winning 2 University championships as well as the southern counties belt.
Only losing twice, once being to Olympian and Heavweight prospect Delicious Orie.
Paul also gained his level one at the club and helped coach our junior classes.
Paul was a wonderful man. Kind, considerate and decent. A gentle giant.
Our thoughts are with his family. He will be sorely missed.

Is England Boxings insistence on classing Alliance boxers previous experience as 'white collar' a safeguarding issue?
It seems there is more than one school of thought on this. Those who see white collar as 8 weeks training prior to a charity bout, those who see it as weightlifters, doormen and have a go heroes wanting a dust up without too much training and those who see it as a viable alternative to EB amateur boxing. Whilst the Alliance clearly falls into the latter category it should be noted that the majority of their clubs were formerly with EB, have the same coaching methods, same protocols and similarly capable boxers.

NEW England Boxing Rulebook:
1.1.4 Individuals who subsequently register with England Boxing must cease competition in any other combat sport.

Fully understandable for punching sports, MMA, Kickboxing etc., but Judo and Wrestling?

NEW England Boxing Rulebook

Is this one straight out of the anti Safeguarding Handbook?

For One Night Only Boxing is an England Boxing initiative to provide a safe environment for individuals to take part in a boxing bout as a one-off opportunity and to experience competitive
boxing with limited training and no previous experience.

A boxer is ready to compete when they are ready to compete, which is and always has been when they are ready. At no time in my 50 plus years of involvement with this sport have I or anyone I've worked alongside put a boxer in a ring with limited (insufficient) training.

1. Back in the day a pair of Velvet shorts at £12.95, Satin at £6.95 or as in my old club half a dozen pairs made from a set of old navy blue curtains!
2. Bring back Punchbag Gloves - feel the bag - hear the smack of real power! £11.95 would have bought you a blood red pair made from cowhide. These days you can pick up a PU pair for around £15!
3. Can you name the boxer wearing the dressing gown?
4. Boxers Towel - with handy blood red logos - that flew like an Albatross - £2 😉

A quick reminder that applying to join our 'BAILY's Boutfinder' page here on Facebook requires you to be the Club Competition Secretary or listed as a coach with the club you claim to represent.

Essentially what that mean's is if your name is Susan and the Comp Secs listed name is Dave, there's a pretty strong chance that your not actually the comp sec at all!🙊🙉🙈😉
