Time to let the IOC, IBA and medical professionals do more research to determine the way forward for intersex xy chromosome female boxers, but you really couldn't make this up...

Sometimes in broadcasting things happen that you just can't help. In Imane Khelifs bout tonight, I had to listen to this comment on the Discovery channel about 10 times just to make sure......'Khelif trying for that right uppercut 'he' almost got it'........ooops🙈

Better still, and this is Imane's 'fault' as much as anyone's......if your wearing a black gumshield, spit it out as quickly as possible🥹

Why did Carini quit?
Angela Carini is a veteran of 107 bouts (84 wins) who has been stopped just once before. Imane Khelif has had around 50 bouts, 5 of which were won by stoppage against opponents who had been stopped several times previously. One of whom had been stopped 11 times from 13 losses.

She will almost certainly have sparred with men and competed against exceptionally strong women.

This was a protest which in my opinion was to stick two fingers up to the IOC's handling of the tournament or to garner support that thrusts Carini into the international spotlight, social media etc., in such a way as could not be achieved by winning the bout and progressing in the tournament.

Robberies............!

Favourites include 'that the Judges decision was clearly something to do with Brexit', that the result was determined beforehand and a complaint should be made, and that overtones of Eurovision are at play here! Best one has to be 'I didn't actually watch all the bout but think you deserved to win'..

GB Team Olympic results so far....
The term 'robbed' is being thrown around by dozens of folk, with messrs Woodhall, Macintosh and the Discovery plus commentator misdirecting viewers. '2 great scoring jabs'(that fell short) and a 'fabulous backhand' that scraped a chin as the recipient turned away, is NOT a scoring combination! Whist in a messy clinch, tapping one's opponent 3 times on the side of the head does not score 3 points.

Charley Davison: Slow start better last round. Could have gone either way. Not a robbery.

Rosie Eccles: Messy contest, difficult to score. I, like many thought that the point deduction in the final round may have lost if for the Polish girl, but again we are talking the tightest of margins here. Not a robbery.

On a general note some of the refereeing is dire. Is it no longer a requirement when separating the boxers to make them step back before saying 'box'? Is it usual for a referee to focus all their attention on one of the combatants and miss the same misdemeanours by the other?

A bit unfair to draw conclusions on the judging on the basis of misunderstandings for Team GB results alone, but is anybody with overseas connections picking up the 'corruption' vibe claims being made on social media?

June/July's primary school age beginner of the month is 8 year old Oscar Vaisvilas, who has shown great commitment, dedication and effort in the gym.

Oscar has been a regular attendee at the Club over the last 2 months and has developed a great set of boxing skills. Well done Oscar.

In the run up to the 2008 Bejing Olympics there was loads of publicity for the England boxers. So much in fact that I could probably name most of the squad without looking them up. London 2012 for obvious reasons built on the PR base and Tokyo 2020 fizzed but didn't quite bang.

So here we are with just 3 days to go til Paris 2024 and the England Boxing website and social media pages are devoid of any mention?

Have I missed something?
