RIP SABA: Established 78 years ago in December 1946 the first national schools finals took place at the Dome in Brighton. By 1953 the Schools Championships had become so popular that the nationwide entry totalled 53,000 boys with spectators (children, teachers, relatives and fans) almost filling the vast Wembley Arena.

Throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's amateur boxing continued to flourish with boxers, now training at established boxing clubs, being chosen to represent their school in the SABA Championships where victory in the national final was viewed as the pinnacle of a junior boxers career.

This must change, and I've asked Ministers to reflect the importance of grassroots sport in their Sports Strategy goi...

The infamous split 'Baily's' boxing glove from the Muhammad Ali v Henry Cooper fight on 18th June 1963 comes up for sale by auction with the starting price, a very reasonable £550,000k🙈

I acquired the Baily's name a couple of years back and use it, for now, on our 'Baily's Boutfinder' page here on Facebook to support the Matchmaking Database.

Option to make a charitable donation to *RINGSIDE Charitable Trust when paying annual Matchmaking Database Fee.
*Reg Charity No: 1185462

First a special thank you to those clubs that have added £10+ to support this worthy charity. The trust is run by former boxers to help others in need. RINGSIDE'S aim is to develop, build and run a home that offers short and long term medical care for ex boxers and further develop helpline support, advice and assistance covering mental health, depression, injury and financial difficulties etc.,

All donations are paid in full to RINGSIDE and whilst we cannot directly incentivise we hope to work with them and the multiple former champions and ambassadors, who have pledged their support, to show appreciation for your clubs valuable and very much appreciated contribution.

Club rejected from Matchmaking Database...? Boxers disappearing?
Whilst we recognise the administratively slow start to the season, caused in part we are told, by the introduction of EB's new membership system, there are no viable or acceptable reasons for clubs not to REVIEW and update their active boxers details.

Competition Secretaries tell us that they will ALWAYS make the first call to a club who's boxers details were updated most recently, so those not updated since last season are of little use. With this in mind all clubs that aren't up to speed have been Rejected.
In the coming weeks every boxer whether available or unavailable that has not been reviewed this season will become AGED and removed from view.

The Review and Update process for a typical club takes minutes. If you need help or simply want to get this process done quickly please send a message or make contact through the usual channels.

Thankyou
