I guess this TITLE poster is from the 80's.....you might have to zoom in to see how equipment prices have changed over the years...

1. Back in the day a pair of Velvet shorts at £12.95, Satin at £6.95 or as in my old club half a dozen pairs made from a set of old navy blue curtains!
2. Bring back Punchbag Gloves - feel the bag - hear the smack of real power! £11.95 would have bought you a blood red pair made from cowhide. These days you can pick up a PU pair for around £15!
3. Can you name the boxer wearing the dressing gown?
4. Boxers Towel - with handy blood red logos - that flew like an Albatross - £2 😉

A quick reminder that applying to join our 'BAILY's Boutfinder' page here on Facebook requires you to be the Club Competition Secretary or listed as a coach with the club you claim to represent.

Essentially what that mean's is if your name is Susan and the Comp Secs listed name is Dave, there's a pretty strong chance that your not actually the comp sec at all!🙊🙉🙈😉

England Boxing on target to break previous record for the delay in posting Board Minutes ;) September was 5 months ago!

PS: Does anybody know what happened to the 'England Boxing Foundation' set up and recognised by the Charities Commission in 2021 and removed in July 2024?

Happy New Year to all.........

Changes to the Matchmaking Database, effective immediately.

On the front page of the Database clubs are listed and flagged to show Green for good, Red for needs updating. Whilst this helped clubs keep on top of their lists it didn't require them to 'REVIEW' every boxer and some would be significantly out of date. With this in mind we introduced an AGED filter some months ago. If not reviewed for 6 months the boxer disappears from view. This worked on the basis that we cannot argue that the boxer is still in the gym and is happy to have their details displayed online unless the club has reviewed their listing, and second, that a listing that is not reviewed and updated is of little use!

Moving forward, we will be tightening and significantly reducing the allowable window for reviewing boxers details and have made some changes to make this easier for clubs to manage by highlighting the last reviewed date alongside outdated boxers in RED. Please make any amendments before they disappear from view.

PLEASE NOTE: On the right hand side of every boxers listing is a comments section and a slider button. If a boxer is AWOL, Gone Missing, Injured, Doing Exams, Losing Weight, please use the availability slider to temporarily remove them from view to help Matchmakers using the show AVAILABLE boxers only filter. (If appropriate they could remain with a comment saying Injured - available in 2 weeks etc.,)

A couple of things that we have not publicised widely.....
If you are not great with technology and struggle with updates, email [email protected] to help whizz through it. A typical list can be sorted in 5 minutes if you have the relevant information to hand.

If you are unsure of a boxers record, be they changing clubs, entering championships etc., we can, in most cases, look at a boxers history. Drop us an email...........

Thankyou for your continued support.....

RIP SABA: Established 78 years ago in December 1946 the first national schools finals took place at the Dome in Brighton. By 1953 the Schools Championships had become so popular that the nationwide entry totalled 53,000 boys with spectators (children, teachers, relatives and fans) almost filling the vast Wembley Arena.

Throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's amateur boxing continued to flourish with boxers, now training at established boxing clubs, being chosen to represent their school in the SABA Championships where victory in the national final was viewed as the pinnacle of a junior boxers career.

This must change, and I've asked Ministers to reflect the importance of grassroots sport in their Sports Strategy goi...
