Marla was wonderful!

I used Marla for my "day of coordinator" for my wedding on 10-10-14 at The Guild. I planned all of the details of our wedding over the 9 months leading up to the big day, but after realizing how much went into a wedding, I knew that I would need some help during the actual day. I found Marla on The Knot, as well as a recommendation from one of the managers at The Guild. I met with Marla in person in the beginning and then had multiple emails and phone calls touching base throughout the planning. Then, the week before the wedding we had a final in person meeting at The Guild. This last meeting really helped me see the big picture and all of our planning come together. She advocated for me and what I wanted for our big day and was a huge supporter of my decisions.

Our wedding was supposed to be outside at The Guild and then move inside for the reception. Well, it was in the low 50s and raining on and off all day, so we had to go with our back up plan and have both ceremony and reception inside, with a significant room flip during the cocktail hour. Marla seriously took care of everything. Since we had to flip the room, it was up to Marla to move the flowers around and arrange centerpieces on all of the guest tables since the florist wasn't there anymore. She did great and everything looked beautiful.

The whole day while I was getting ready and taking pictures, etc...Marla only asked me 2 questions! She took care of everything on her own.

The list of what she did is endless, but a few things that I didn't even realize I would need include the following:

She filled my plate from the buffet and walked it to my table so I didn't spill on my dress. She always made sure my husband and I had drinks. She made sure we had champagne ready for our toasts and guided us through the cake cutting and toasts. She gathered up the cards throughout the night and made sure they were in a safe place for us. She packaged up our anniversary cake tier. She kept all of the reception events on track (first dance, father/daughter, mother/son dances, toasts, cake cutting, garter/bouquet toss, etc). She made through our vendors got all of their final payments.

If you are trying to find a coordinator or are not sure if you need one, please take my advice...you will def need one and it will be some of the best money you spend for your wedding! I also recommend using Marla Merz as your day of coordinator, as she had such a positive impact on the whole day for me and my husband:)

Marla is very thoughtful and goes through all the details with you, even ones that you might not have considered yet in the planning process. She is wonderful to work with, and can help with any job that seems impossible to complete at the last minute. She helped everything run absolutely smoothly from before the ceremony through the reception, timing transitions perfectly, and she took care of preparation for everything in between, including running items from location to location. So very happy I got to work with her; my wedding went perfectly!

I don't know what we would've done without Marla Merz Events planning our wedding! I was so overwhelmed in the beginning with everything that needed to be done and had so many questions, but after meeting with Marla I felt at ease. She answered all of my questions and guided me through what and when things needed to be done. She thought of everything! She knows weddings inside and out and her taste is impeccable. Not only was she by my side during our engagement, she decorated everything as well. We had so many compliments! You can tell that Marla really loves what she does and cares about her clients. I will definitely use Marla Merz Events again for any event that we have in the future, and would highly recommend her. Thank you again Marla!

I can't say enough about how wonderful Marla was for our wedding! We asked for her to be our day of coordinator, but I wish we had her services for the whole process. -- Meetings -- We met two times: once for an initial meet/greet and to discuss details, then a second time about a week before the wedding. She was very flexible with scheduling meetings. She was always early (which is a huge plus for me because I hate when people are late). She was also available to answer any questions or concerns I had via email or phone. She always responded promptly. -- Planning Process -- She was SO helpful with planning out the details. I haven't been apart of any weddings, so my wedding was my first experience with any type of planning. She helped us figure out a reception schedule, ceremony precession, table arrangements, etc. Basically, all the small details that you don't think about, she had it figured out for us. It was a huge relief, because I was completely clueless. -- Day of the wedding -- On the day of the wedding, Marla was at our ceremony venue and made sure everyone got lined up and down the aisle. As simple as it sounds, trying to herd family and friends can be frustrating. I can't believe how calmly she was able to get everyone organized and in their right spots. The ceremony was perfect! Then, when we got to the reception... I was blown away as soon as I entered the door. See.. Marla helped get our reception centerpieces set up, because we didn't have a florist, so it was a bit DIY. When I arrived, the decorations looked 100 times better than I could ever imagine. I was beyond ecstatic. Throughout the night, she made sure everything moved smoothly. From our big entrance, to dinner, to cake, to toasts, to the dollar dance and wrapping up everything. In short, there was nothing to worry about. I just showed up to my wedding and she told me what to do... it was perfect! -- Demeanor -- The main thing I must compliment Marla about is her demeanor. Weddings are highly stressful for everyone involved, but she was calm the entire time. She didn't have to raise her voice to get people to do anything. She just asked and people listened. There's something about her that people just respond to. Whenever I was getting stirred up because of something or someone, she calmly talked to me and it made me relax and not worry. Overall, I loved my wedding and it is because of Marla. I wish we would have found her in the beginning of our planning process instead of just using her services for the day of the wedding. I highly recommend her to anyone planning a wedding or any other event. She's a life saver!...
