Hey friends!

We have a ton of new faces so we figured it was time for a quick little intro - We are Steve & Karen!

One of the things we promised to do this year was to show our couples who we are outside of Wedding Planners. Plain and simple... we are Jesus loving, joke cracking, home body extroverts who never take life too seriously. We love each other and have a lot of love to give to others including our chosen kiddos, our dogs and our new coming baby boy.

If this speaks to your heart in any way, let’s be friends and plan a rocking wedding.

We will be the first to say we love having a lot of planning time, but we can also confirm that we have planned a wedding in as little as 4 months! Can you believe that????

I would also like to mention that said wedding was EPIC and by far one of our kindest couple! Now here are a couple of pointers to keep in mind if you are on a shorter timeframe:

1. The time to be indecisive has come and left! You have to make decisions and stick to them.
2. Stay off of social media and Pinterest. Trust your vendor team and focus solely on what they give you to reduce option paralysis.
3. Don’t be shocked if you encounter additional planning/rush fees given the set timeline. This is especially true when a vendor has to create additional time in their schedule to prioritize your wedding date and needs.
4. Get your major events scheduled early on and communicate those to your planner (Showers, parties, rehearsal dinners, etc.)
5. Enjoy the fast process and communicate if or when you get overwhelmed!

First dance... Full song or faded?

Our suggestion: Gather a couple of your friends and dance in front of them to a different song for 2 minutes while they all stare at you and see how you feel. If you love the attention... DANCE TO THAT FULL SONG KING AND QUEEN!! If you are ready to tap out after a minute of them staring at you, consider fading out your first song during one of the choruses.

THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A FULLY SET TABLE.

Seeing a beautifully set table seriously makes our hearts so giddy. There is just something about intentional tableware that makes a wedding dinner meal feel far more celebratory! Did you actually know that during the pandemic china usage increased for that sole purpose - people wanted typical meals to feel like more of a celebration?

Grooms - THIS ONE IS FOR YOU!!

Be sure to set an alarm 3 days before wedding day to remind all of your groomsmen to check their bags and confirm they have all of their items. Here is what they should typically look for:

1. Suit or tux jacket
2. Suit or tux pants
3. Shirt
4. Vest
5. Bowtie or tie
6. Belt
7. Cufflinks
8. Pocket Square
9. Shoes
10. Socks

Now remember, not all of these items are provided by the rental company, and it is all dependent on the attire ordered for said wedding. However, this is a simple fix that can be avoided prior to 4 hours before ceremony.

It’s always wild to see the year for our couples finally arrive. There is just something about the clock striking their year that always makes planning move with much more intentionality. A day that has felt so long away is now just around the corner.

We typically recommend getting invitations mailed out 8-12 weeks from your wedding date - so here is a reminder!

If you are getting married at the end of March/beginning of April and you have not already, it’s time to plan a wedding planning date and get those puppies finished and mailed!

Brides here is a quick tip to share with your Maid/Matron/Man of Honor:

1. Once you arrive to the altar, your person of honor should hand of their bouquet to the person behind them.
2. The MOH should fix the dress train first, then the veil!
3. After the dress is fixed, they should grab the bouquet to free your hands!

We always recommend, practicing this PRIOR to the ceremony. It completely removes the pressure of feeling light a deer in headlights and having your dress look funky in pictures!

We have been really quiet around here so we felt it was time to do a quick intro. We have a lot of new faces here and some new faces in our family. We are Karen and Steve and this is our little family🤍

When we initially began this business our “Why” was to celebrate and support our couples as they stepped into this new season of life. And although that is still one of our major driving factors, that “why” has definitely expanded.

A little over a year ago, we became chosen parents to two awesome kiddos, Josiah and Jerediah! These kids have really changed the way that we look at life and the way we work. We have realized that they see it all and repeat it all. If we love and speak highly of our couples, they do the same. If we loop them in on the planning process for our couples, they get pumped for color selections and aesthetics. Our older one has even been trained to assists on weddings every so often.

Why, you ask? Because we want to show them what it looks like to love and serve people with every ounce of their being. We want them to witness what healthy relationships and marriages look like. We want them to know how to love and celebrate others whole heartedly. Ultimately, we love what we do and now we get to share it with teen humans that look at us for guidance and example. It truly makes it that much more special!

So as you become or join the C&V family, please know that you are celebrated by our little army and you are oh so loved🤍

Also, major shout out to for helping my sweet boys feel so comfortable!

One of the biggest feedback/comments we get from our Brides is their reliance on their Wedding Party! You can include your bridesmaids in so many different ways to help alleviate some of your wedding day stress:

✨ Lunch Lady: Put someone in charge of lunch for the getting ready suite. Whether it’s a charcuterie spread or a lunch order from Panera, no one likes a hangry wedding party.

✨Water Girl: Assign someone the task of having water and drinks available. Champagne, orange juice and water are always in high demand the morning of!

✨ Head of Steaming: assign someone the task of bringing and steaming any bridesmaids dresses the morning of. Steaming should not take place in the bridal suite! Humidity and hair don’t mix🙅🏻‍♀️

✨Disc Jockey: your girlie with the best music selection should fill this role! Have them create a playlist prior to wedding day for the getting ready time and provide a speaker the day of! Playlist should be at least 4 hours long.

If you followed along, you know the past week we had! However, we always try and see the lessons to be learned during those moments. We have learned the following:

1. Life is to short so hold the ones you love closely!
2. Unapologetically be yourself, no matter the circumstances, the people or the opinions around you!
3. We are thankful for the flexibility our job offers us.
4. We absolutely love and adore all of our couples. The amount of love that you all sent our way is WILD! Thank you for showing humility and understanding in the one of the most important seasons of your lives.
5. To our vendors/friendors, thank you for offering help, your homes, etc. Your sacrificial love definitely does not go unnoticed🤍

All in all, we are back! Things are moving and we are pumped for the week and weddings ahead✨

This is your reminder to have a ceremony rehearsal! It’s important for your wedding party to practice and know exactly where they are standing. This avoids any crazy-drunk looking wedding party lines during ceremony.

We are officially half way through the year and things are finally starting to slow down. The past couple of weeks have really forced us to think about what the future looks like for C&V. We have really been thinking through more intentionality with our couples, our vendors and our family. With that being said, we are pumped for what the future holds and can’t wait to share more of how we are planning to do that!

Let’s talk about the Veil!

Some of the most common questions that we receive. When do we put the veil on? How do we put it on? Who puts it on?

Here are a couple of tips:

✨ Have your Beauty team show your MOH how to place your veil
✨ Ask your Beauty team if they can leave behind a couple of Bobby pins for your veil
✨ If you want your veil for your first look and pre ceremony pictures, have your MOH place it right after you get dressed
✨ If you don’t want your veil in pictures or for your first look, have your MOH place your veil before you walk down the aisle
✨ Be sure to let Parents and Groom know to not place their hand on top of your veil. This avoids your head being yanked back.

After a gloomy weekend here in Austin, we are thankful for the sunshine trickling in through our blinds. With a bright day ahead we figured we would chat about something so important for an event which is color! If we were to play family feud and ask the most popular colors for weddings, the results would probably be: 1. Burgundy and blush 2. Mauves/Pinks and 3. Dusty blues. Although we are suckers for those colors, we have discovered that your color scheme is a way to express your personality. Mustard yellow, terracota, sage, lavender, coral, neutral tones, etc. The possibilities are truly endless!
