Happy Saturday, lovely people!! Things have been so busy this summer for the whole family, between weddings and editing, side projects, as well as peak farmers market season for the coffee biz, and our little toddler keeping us on our toes day and night 🥴 we’re feeling the load! That being said, later next week the family is packing up for a little camping trip up north for a long weekend to unwind! But before we go, the full Vaughn wedding highlight film will be sent and released!! 🥰🥰🥰🤍 I wanted to hop on here now before I forget to make an “away” post through the chaos lol. I hope everyone is having a great summer, don’t forget to cherish family time as much as you can 🩷 as always thank you for your patience with this tired mama 🙃

Allow me to introduce myself, your local West Michigan wedding videographer! I have some new faces here, and it's been a couple of years since I've done a post like this. I don't know how many people actually read these but here we go:

My name is Sarah (obvi lol), and I am the owner, head videographer, and editor of Sarah April Media. April is my middle name, but you probably guessed as much! I'm 29 and will be 30 this November ahhhhh 😭

I got my degree in Digital Cinematography with Full Sail University, and my first wedding was in 2018 for my now-sister-in-law! Since then, my business, creativity, and skills have grown but not without a few bumps in the road (thanks covid). I wouldn't be where I am today without my husband, family, friends, and new friends I've met in the wedding/creative industry that have all had a hand in supporting me and pushing me to do my best and be myself!

I fell in love with filming weddings because the emotions that unfold throughout the day are so genuine. I always thought I'd be a film director in Hollywood. Don't get me wrong, that would be an amazing opportunity. But there's something about preserving actual memories of someone's wedding day, compiling it into a creative film, that's so beautiful to me. I've captured footage of people who are no longer with us, and these videos help keep their memory alive. Clients from the past have told me how often they watch their videos which warms my heart completely. The more I make wedding films, the more I realize it's more than just capturing the wedding itself. It's the people, the loved ones, the raw emotions. I feel like my work has transformed based on these realizations, and with each wedding I manage to learn something new. I am a professional, but I will always be a student to learning.

As a small business, I wear many hats (filming, editing, customer service, bookkeeping, posting on socials, website maintenance, research for gear and digital tools, tech support, etc.). I'm sure that A LOT of you can relate to this! Above all, I am a stay at home mom to an awesome 1.5 year old and she is our whole world. She makes every day (and night) interesting and keeps me on my toes, but I love it all. I find time to edit (and do all the other stuff) during naptime, and sometimes during playtime if I can get away with it. Except if I'm being honest, the mom guilt can get so real if I work too long at a time so we'll take breaks to go play outside or somewhere away from my computer! Occasionally I'll work at night, but with how busy we are on a daily basis, I try to keep evenings as quality time with my husband, Jake. You might see him filming a wedding with me too! While I do some weddings solo, my favorite is when we are both on the job. He's getting really good at this wedding thing too!

When I get free time and/or to decompress I love being outdoors (except in the winter lolll), gaming (I have many cozy game recommendations to those who want them), watching true crime documentaries and Gilmore Girls, and eating snacks lol. I'm a very simple gal when it comes to my definition of a good time!

So excited about this sneak peek trailer for Kristi + Will! Their day was gorgeous. Their vows were also the cutest so I wanted to incorporate them into the trailer, even though I usually wait until the full highlight film. Congratulations, and thank you so much for having me capture your wedding day!

Fun fact, from talking to the couple, I gathered that I am currently living on the same street that Kristi grew up on, and Will + Kristi currently live in Portland, OR where I was born and spent the first 6 years of my childhood!

Black Sheep Shelter in South Haven has to be one of my absolute favorite venues. I even considered getting married there before Jake and I decided on a destination wedding! Sam and Audrey's vow renewal here last year was gorgeous. Complete with the perfect field for golden and blue hour. I really hope someone books me for an event here again!

The beauty of your wedding day, compiled into an artistic highlight film to watch for years to come. I know I'll never stop watching my own wedding video, and I can't even imagine not having one. Not only me, but a ton of wedding professionals hear it all the time: one of the biggest regrets couples have after their wedding is not hiring a videographer. The day just goes by way too fast and before you know it, you'll want to be able to see it in action again. This is usually the last service that's booked, yet one of the most important!! Hindsight is 20/20. Don't regret not getting the video!! Contact me ASAP to get your wedding date booked. Happy 2nd wedding anniversary to Kendra and Rocky! I recently had to pull this one out of the archive, so I wanted to re-share it while it was on my hard drive again! It's crazy to see how much my work has changed within just a couple of years, but I've always adored this video. I was surrounded by so many cool people! To this day, I don't think I've seen a more hyped crew than all of their family and friends who showed up for them on their special day. Thanks for letting me preserve this day for you guys. And I'm so happy to hear that you watched it for your anniversary last year, and will again today 🤍

One of my absolute favorite weddings last year was was with Addison & Riley. This whole group was so much fun and Jake and I had a blast filming the reception! Their golden hour sesh was also absolutely perfect 🤌🤍

Taking a brief intermission to re-share one of my favorite weddings I filmed last year! Aside from how HOT I remember this day being, I vividly remember how tender and playful Mackenzie and Joey interacted with each other throughout the whole day. They were simply so happy to be there getting married, surrounded by their friends and family. And I'm not gonna lie this video still brings a few tears to the surface and if you want to cry too I suggest you watch the whole thing lol. As they celebrate their first wedding anniversary in just a few days, I wish them many more years of love and happiness!!

A million thank yous!!!!!! It’s insane. Yesterday morning I had a brand new business page with zero likes and follows. Frustrated to the brim that my reality was starting my Facebook network from scratch. This morning, I now have more followers than I did on my old page. You ALL came through for me. Even people I’ve never met before! My deepest gratitude to those who shared, liked, followed, and ultimately just supported me. I typically try not to get caught up in social media, but the reality of it is, a lot of professionals and creative professionals use this platform as a tool to connect with people they wouldn’t reach otherwise. It acts as a social portfolio, a place to find people that love your work and want to back you up, and a place to support fellow small businesses, and big creators. When you’re suddenly cut off from that channel, it can be a scary thing. And I’m not so scared anymore cause all of you are here now! Once again, thank you. I will be slowly re-posting some old works of mine in hopes that I can still show some of my portfolio in a public space again. So if you see old videos that I did a while back, that’s why 😋 I also have grandparent mini videos to share super soon! 🫶🏽

HELP NEEDED🤍 Hey everyone! I'm so saddened that I no longer have access to my original Sarah April Media page. It's still active, but sadly with my personal account that managed the page being wrongfully and permanently disabled, I can no longer manage that page. It'll now be sitting there, as-is, abandoned. It's been super frustrating as it's been a great all-in-one platform where I can share my work over the years while also connect with new couples in the wedding communities here on Facebook. I have to figure out how to get my supporters over on this new page, and to keep people from contacting me through the old page. Because the messages simply won't get to me. So I REALLY need everyone's help! If you could please share my page with your friends and family, and invite them to follow so I can get my numbers back up. And if you're a former client of mine, I would so appreciate if you could write an honest review on this new page as well.
