Remember yesterday’s flower photo? This is the bouquet I made with those beautiful ingredients! I love the movement and small treasures like the fritillaria & narcissus 💜
Of course, a year after I made this, I see room for improvement. I would add more blossom to add highlights to the darker areas. And it could use a few more tulips to balance out the amount of foliage.
Not to say I don’t like this, but I know more now than I did a year ago. And that’s normal.
Do you ever criticize your own work? I’m talking constructive criticism, not beating yourself up over nothing. We all do that from time to time 😅
I think the constructive version can really help you the see areas where you can grow. And more importantly: it can help you see how much you’ve grown already!
If you want to give it a go: grab a photo of something you made at least a year ago and try to think how you would design it now. Maybe you would use a different technique, other ingredients, placement, colors.. anything goes. Even the way you photographed it. Make notes or sketches if you want, consider it a case study. You don’t have to share or tell anyone, it’s just for you.
The fact that you can see improvements, no matter how small, is proof of your growth so far 👏🏻
Notice how I used the word improvements, not mistakes or failures. Because they are not mistakes. You did the best you could do at the time. And you created something with your hands!!
We are always learning & growing.
I’ve shared these words before and I will share them again: don’t compare to anyone but your old self!
Enjoy the making of a very special nest for @crookedgarden 🌿
This 2 minute video / timelapse doesn’t show all the work, but you can see a glimpse! ☺️
Here’s the total picture:
brainstorming, sketching, 2 days of collecting windfall branches in the rain, testing the structure on our driveway, scrubbing buckets, ordering & processing fresh flowers, packing up the car (next level tetris), driving 2,5 hours up North, unloading the car, 2 days of installation building, styling the set for a photoshoot, taking out the fresh flowers, packing the car, driving 2,5 hours back home, unloading the car.. and finally: enjoying the beautiful photos by @lisannejagerphotography & all your amazing compliments 💜
Oh and in a week or so: scrubbing buckets again 😁
