Does being a cat mom count too today? I think yes. (Atlas update below! 💛🌎)
After we lost Nalu last year, I lost a bit of my heart. She’s been my baby girl for almost 18 years. I still think about her every day and like her brother Kalare, she will always be with us 🖤
But this week hits the 2 month anniversary of bringing sweet Atlas into our life. We adopted this scared 3 year old at on March 15.
After that moment from slide 4, we didn’t see him live for weeks. He hid under our guest bed, terrified me.
We kept an eye on him with our wildlife cameras, that we put inside. And then he suddenly appeared on the stairs. And we had cuddle parties on the landing. And he drooled all over the floor. Always with one paw up, making air biscuits 🍪
Since then, we had many ‘firsts’ with Atlas.
The first time he came downstairs to cuddle.
The first time he came downstairs during the day.
The first time he hopped on the couch with us.
The first time he didn’t run away when we moved.
The first time he came into the office while I was there.
The first time he stepped on the balcony.
The first time he stretched out in a sunny spot, right next to me.
The first time he came running when I called him 🥰
Atlas is still a little on edge, we think he has had some bad experiences with humans. But he’s learning to trust us. And he’s learning that he can relax here.
On some days, he even follows me around a bit. Other days he sleeps under our bed and I barely see him.
Adopting an animal is a process with many ups & downs. And we are SO here for it. We love our drooling flamingo baby. I’m an extremely proud cat mom that takes dozens of photos every day. (writing this as he hops next to me on the couch, purring loudly 🥹)
Thank you for asking about him and cheers to my fellow childfree cat moms! You’re the best ❤️
Also.. if you want to talk about cats to me in real life.. join our Floral Artistry Retreat in Italy next year! There will be at least 3 cat people there so you’ll be in good company 😁🐱
