Our special guest is the internationally acclaimed musical legend, the singer and songwriter Joan Armatrading
Born on the Caribbean island of Saint Kitts, at the age of seven she relocated with her family to England and began to play the family piano - but it was the guitar that captured her heart.
Joan Armatrading has always been a pioneer —in the early ’70’s she broke boundaries as ‘a Black woman with a rock guitar’!
Known for her poignant lyrics and and eclectic music styles, Joan has released 20 studio albums and countless timeless hits....all without ever compromising her musical integrity!
With a career spanning over 50 years, she now celebrates this milestone with her brand new release, ‘Consequences’.

Today on The World Show with NickyB Kaya 959 we’ll be crossing to Botswana to chat to much-loved singer, songwriter and producer, Tomeletso Sereetsi
Best known for his work with his group, Sereetsi & the natives, he’ll be joining us to celebrate his brand new 3rd release ‘I Am Afrika’.
Featuring collaborations with some of the most exciting singer-songwriters and instrumentalists from across Botswana and the world, including SA’s Bokani Dyer and Zimbabwean-born Berita Afro Soul, “I Am Afrika” was produced during lockdown - its a rich offering which brings “Africans and humanity together to celebrate and embrace our rich diversity of musics, languages and cultures” Sereetsi says.
