Hi Parents,
I have been lucky to be working very closely with Poppy as a representative for the Year 10 cohort to get the formal organised. She has spent HOURS on the seating arrangements with me and is doing everything she can to help create an amazing night for her peers. The time she has put in this weekend to encourage her classmates to get organised is next level.
She has been alerted to an upsetting message today & has asked me to please share with everyone the following message (in regard to the student voted 'awards' survey that the kids all like to do for some added fun at formal.
Poppy's message....
Hi everyone, My name is Poppy, and my friends and I are the ones who created the survey. First, I wanna start by saying that I'm not sure where your kids have heard those questions from, but I want to clarify and say that i did not add 'most likely to get pregnant after tonight' or 'most likely to become gay/lesbian'.
Below is the list we created.
1.Biggest sweetheart
2. Best smile
3. Most likely to become famous
4. Cutest couple
5. Class clown (boy & girl)
6. Most likely to end up in jail
7. Life of the party
8. Most likely to become a millionaire
9. Most likely to fail year 10
10. Biggest NPC
11. Best duo
12. Biggest glow up
13. Most likely to get killed first in a horror movie
14. Teachers pet
15. Most athletic (boy & girl)
16. The clumsiest
17. Most likely to get the highest ATAR
18. Dancing queen
19. Most competitive (boy &girl)
20. Biggest troublemaker in Year 7
21. Best hair
22. Most tragic
23. Legend of the year
Obviously, on the night we won't do all of them since that's a lot of awards. We did include 'most likely to end up in jail' and 'most tragic' which I can understand how you think it can upset someone. However, I have already asked the winners of those awards if they are ok with winning it because i don't want to humiliate anyone of course but they said they are fine with it and think it is funny. Besides those questions, I don't think any others are harmful but you never know how someone will take it. Sorry again if you think this is "horrific" but it is our formal and we just want to have fun. If you have any questions just reply. Anyway I just wanted to clarify that I did not add those questions and we are not trying to hurt people's feelings, we just want to have some funny awards to remember on our formal night. Poppy xx
From Vicki (parent organiser)....
I will be chaperoning on formal night & will ensure that no hurtful, degrading, upsetting or embarrassing 'awards' are given out. My role is really just facilitating the kids desires for the evening, to help with bookings, seating & venue set-up, but of course will be sure to oversee this as well :)
