For today’s Small Business Saturday, we’d like to spotlight Karen McLaughlin, owner of Fresh Today Catering & Bakery .
Fresh Today is a full-service catering company and bakery, that’s also woman owned, and family operated. Karen is the wearer of many hats, not only is she the owner, but she’s also the Pastry Chef, cake decorator and journeyman baker. She opened her business so her family could do what they love and build a better future TOGETHER!
She gets the privilege to work with her husband, who is the chef. Their 12-year-old even gets to help them out as they teach her about owning a business, time management, baking, cooking and customer service. Their middle daughter helps with occasional deliveries during the holidays and their oldest daughter helps with their website and social media. It truly is a family affair!
They have a multitude of items they make as well as custom menus specially designed for their customers. They enjoy helping out in a last minute, save the day, on the fly situation that some of their customers find themselves in. The time of year they enjoy the most is Thanksgiving and Christmas, where they prepare hot and ready to eat meals for the whole family, that can be delivered to their customers’ doors.
